Varginha was postponed to 2023; - The estimates to opening Line 17 were postponed to an undefined date again, due to the incoming termination of the construction consortium contract; - Jardim Aeroporto and Congonhas stations (L17) were respectively renamed to Washington Luís and Aeroporto de Congonhas; - There is a municipal BRT service, called Expresso Tiradentes, connecting the BRT stations Parque Dom Pedro, Sacomã, and Vila Prudente; - The expansions of Lines 11 and 13 to Palmeiras-Barra Funda and Line 15 to Jacu-Pêssego are likely to open before 2026; - The construction of an automatic people mover line connecting Line 13 to Guarulhos Airport is also likely to finish before 2026.

Hello! Congratulations on the video, it is certainly something very laborious and deserves all recognition. I have already shared your video on my channel. Success!
Thank you for making a video about São Paulo railways. What saddens me is to know that once, the whole state of São Paulo was filled by railways. What you show on this video is, basically, just a city. The end of life for most of São Paulo's railroads is very sad and unfair.
Great video!! 😃 👍🏼 Thanks for putting it together! My 1st encounter with the São Paulo metro system was in 2008. 🚇 Great to see the recent development!
It's nice of you to include the CPTM lines, most channels forget about it and the fact that it's heavily integrated with the SP Metro, and no comparison (either size or usage) should be made without them, great work. Btw, the stations that were supposed to open in 2021 were all delayed to 2022, so you can imagine what will happen to the others in the future...
@@ClearFontainePifilcan85 I never said they were, I just said that the "rapid transit system" should include both the Metro and CPTM lines, due to their heavy integration (one ticket means unlimited free transfers between them), and is wrong to assume they're not part of the same "system," different types for the same system.
@@MihzvolWuriar Okay, but if we consider that it is the same system, then the Santiago de Chile metro would be a single system by integrating urban trains, such as the "Central Alameda Nos train", and the "RED system" of solar electric buses, which are also fast, since they both use the same payment card and are connected. The problem is that in Sao Paulo they believe that their metro is the longest in Latin America (with 104 km), but they include the train to increase its length to 377 km. But in Chile the train is not included to say that the Santiago metro is the longest in Latin America (149 km). Nor that the state is building two new metro lines, and two new local train services.
@@ClearFontainePifilcan85 I really don't care about who's the biggest mate, that's useless information. And let's keep within the topic here, buses are not trains, São Paulo has many integrated bus lines with the metro/cptm system, and you didn't see anyone linking them in. And the good information here is simple, with one ticked, you could use both, so they're must be seen *as one system,* since they're both fast, tracked transport systems, and that includes the new monorail lines being completed, they work the same system despite being different categories, and, transport wise, while informing how good you could use the transport system in a city, they should be included in same integrated system. Again, IDGAF about size, but how they work, in this case, they work together, so they should be shown together.
one of my favorite things about são paulo is that we have a fairly wide subway/train system compared to the rest of Brazil I've been using it for years and not driving and, although it has flaws, it does the job it's sad that basically not any other cities in Brazil have a such a wide and big transportation system as we do, and have to rely on buses a lot

Line 5 was built like this because it was a CPTM project previously, but it was passed to Metrô. There was an exchange between the two operators, Metrô built 3 tunnels and 3 stations for CPTM on the current Line 11 and CPTM built part of the current Line 5 for the Metro. Yeah, kind of weird.

- In 2019, Lines 7 and 11 had their operational extensions unified to their main services;
- In 2021, Lines 7 and 10 were unified into 710 Service;
- In the same year, Lines 8 and 9 had their operation conceded to the private Via Mobilidade 8 & 9;
- In Line 9, only Mendes-Vila Natal station (renamed to Bruno Covas-Mendes-Vila Natal in memory of the late mayor of São Paulo) and the infill João Dias were opened. Varginha was postponed to 2023;
- The estimates to opening Line 17 were postponed to an undefined date again, due to the incoming termination of the construction consortium contract;
- Jardim Aeroporto and Congonhas stations (L17) were respectively renamed to Washington Luís and Aeroporto de Congonhas;
- There is a municipal BRT service, called Expresso Tiradentes, connecting the BRT stations Parque Dom Pedro, Sacomã, and Vila Prudente;
- The expansions of Lines 11 and 13 to Palmeiras-Barra Funda and Line 15 to Jacu-Pêssego are likely to open before 2026;
- The construction of an automatic people mover line connecting Line 13 to Guarulhos Airport is also likely to finish before 2026.
Wow, thanks! This is all really solid detail. I was in São Paulo in 2022, so I got to see some of these changes that you mentioned in the latter half of your comment. If he wants to make a follow up or remake for this video it would be best for him to ask you for the facts kkkll. I saw them resume construction on line 17 while I was there. One thing I’m curious about is what future plans there are for the metro?
@@siahsargus2013 Thanks too!
Future plans which are closer to concretize are: expanding Line 2 (Penha/São Paulo - Dutra/Guarulhos), expanding L5 (Jardim Ângela - Capão Redondo and Chácara Klabin - Ipiranga), expanding L6 (Brasilândia - Bandeirantes, on hold while the main section is in progress), expanding L13 (Engenheiro Goulart - Palmeiras-Barra Funda), L14 (Bonsucesso/Guarulhos - Jardim Irene/Santo André), expanding L15 (Ipiranga - Vila Prudente and Jardim Colonial - Hospital Cidade Tiradentes), L16 (Oscar Freire - Cidade Tiradentes), expanding L17 (São Paulo-Morumbi - Morumbi and Washington Luís - Jabaquara, both on hold while the first section is not truly resumed and finished), L19 (Anhangabaú/São Paulo - Bosque Maia/Guarulhos, with Campo Belo - Anhangabaú section project on hold), L20 (Santa Marina/São Paulo - Santo André, with Santa Marina - Saúde being likely the first section to be built) and L22 (Sumaré/São Paulo - Cotia, with Sumaré - Granja Viana being likely the first section to be built).
About L17, unfortunately its construction is paused again, because its construction consortium deliberately gave up and stopped the works, thus its contract will be terminated soon).

Thank you for making a video about São Paulo railways. What saddens me is to know that once, the whole state of São Paulo was filled by railways. What you show on this video is, basically, just a city. The end of life for most of São Paulo's railroads is very sad and unfair.

A slight correction: line 15 only expanded to São Mateus in 2019. In 2018 it only reached Jd Planalto.
CPTM nao é um metro...um trem nao é um metro. A train is not a Subway sistem.
Again, IDGAF about size, but how they work, in this case, they work together, so they should be shown together.

one of my favorite things about são paulo is that we have a fairly wide subway/train system compared to the rest of Brazil
I've been using it for years and not driving and, although it has flaws, it does the job
it's sad that basically not any other cities in Brazil have a such a wide and big transportation system as we do, and have to rely on buses a lot
Good accuracy. Great job!

The First RUclipsr i found make a Expansion of Subway and CPTM lines, I Like This Vídeo
Sao Paulo rail system metro + trains really is the best system in the Americas. Very clean, very fast and reliable. I’m from Chicago and I wish our outdated system was this good. In Sao Paulo trains come every 83 seconds on peak hour, without any accidents. In Chicago the trains come every 7 minutes on peak hour and 13 minutes off peak 😭, not to mention how dirty our stations and trains are.
It's curious than the Line 5 wasn't connected to any metro line (The Emerald Line was a Suburban Line).
Because the line started from the suburb (far) to the most central region. Only in the suburb has space for the train yard. And as there was also a lot of corruption during the work, it took time to complete the line.
@@Mdiasp95 the three tunnels on line 11, was built to extend the line 3 to Guaianazes, but that line was alread full, so they exchanged the lines with the CPTM.
Line 5 is connected with subway lines 1-blue and 2-green.

Great Video, but There's Some Mistakes on this Video:
1. The Line 4 Service Between Luz and Butantã Only Opened in 2012 (kinda), Since in 2011, the Extencion Only went to Pinheiros. (This was Confirrmed on Villa Lobos Jaguaré Station, were in the Back on the Current Map, the Line 4 Only had 3 Stations: Paulista, Faria Lima and Pinheiros)
2. Line 11 once have a Different Route, unlike Line 11 Today that Passes Line 3, Line 11 goes Northeast with Itaquera and 15 de Novembro Station. The Current Route was Intruduced in 2000, with the Inaguration with East Express. This Express Includes 4 Stations: Guaianases, José Bonifácio, Dom Bosco and Corinthians-Itaquera (Along with Luz). This Reasults a New Route.
I'd love to see my city (Rio), but then it'd be a 2 second long video hahahah
Try Belo Horizonte. A single line and nothing more, with a 30+ year construction time and technically incomplete.
You incluided the future map
Impressionante.
As someone who lives in São Paulo, this video makes me both glad and depressed. We were promised the system would be much bigger by now, but then we get only this for a metropolis inhabited by 21 million people, whereas it should expand at a much faster rate. Unfortunately we're short on budget and have lots of corruption and bureaucracy.
