If there is an AJ / Usyk two I think AJ might adjust his approach and strategy in fighting Usyk . Usyk was incredibly hard to read or anticipate . I’m not sure AJ ever did land even one of his super punches to Usyk , if he had been able to do this it may have been a different outcome . Amazing how Joshua doesn't move around much in this fight, but mostly reacts to Usyk's moves. It took Joshua much longer to make adjustments. Throughout the fight, Joshua plays second fiddle and makes little attempt at changing the pace and direction of the fight by using his attributes - height, reach, and weight. There were very few moments of clinch, which allows you to exert weight on the smaller opponent and frustrate him. I can only imagine how much Usyk was enjoying this fight, capping it off with that beautiful flurry of punches in the closing seconds of round 12. As a Joshua fan I was disappointed to see him lose but, oh boy, I enjoyed watching Usyk's dazzling brilliance.

Since I am a southpaw boxer (study the tactics and your video analyses of Pacquiao and Spence- I also study Gervonta “Tank” Davis and the VERY UNDERRATED Ronald “Winky” Wright- very fundamentally sound and defensively responsible boxer), I have been recently studying Oleksandr Usyk’s very effective boxing 🥊 style. I rarely study many heavyweight boxers; however, Usyk fights like a lighter boxer. In this particular fight against the great champion Joshua, I like the fact that you noticed his change of head slots to the inside as he would fire 🔥 🥊 that stiff jab. That reminded me of when the legendary Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao would do the same when he boxed and defeated Thurman and Antonio Margarito 🇲🇽. Against Thurman, Manny would fire 🔥 🥊 that 1-2-1, and even unleash a 1-2 (head slot inside) and backskip his left leg while doubling up on his straight left which increases the power of his combination, making it a 1-2-2. God bless you and thank you Hidden Gem 💎 🔥😎.

      @@29slowjoe Usyk was this fight for sure. Could AJ adjust and make the second fight alot different? For sure!
      If a guys gonna time your jab like that, you have plenty of options.
      AJ can heave some uppercuts right down the middle, make him pay every time (tommy hearns fav, hearns would even feint the jab and throw a left uppercut to catch a guy trying to slip outside).
      He can lead with a left hook instead of a jab. would be harder for Usyk to slip to either side.
      He can crowd him. unlike Ruiz, AJ does not have to fear Usyk on the inside. so crowd him, lean on him, use your size, dig to the body when your in there (right to the body was AJ's best punch actually), get him moving backward. much harder for Usyk to score with this style if he's moving backwards.
      Really its just how hard he wants to work leading up to the next fight. will he put the time in, figure out his strategy and build out his techniques so that he's ready whatever Usyk throws at him ... and vice versa.

    So many people have put AJ down for the loss against Usyk, but he's a great boxer who was beaten by an incredibly creative genius boxer and for some reason think fury or wilder would beat AJ because Usyk did. Madness. That was Usyks greatest performance and he showed that they have literally been studying AJ for his whole career and have been working on strategies to beat him. That's a massive dub for Usyk and tbf even in losing AJ showed he was a better boxer than so many thought, he never dropped into just wildly throwing punches even when behind. So Usyk and Fury are better boxers than AJ. Chisora and maybe prime Povetkin are better brawlers. But AJ has a mix and always has. AJ also isn't a one shot KO artist like Wilder, he is more a combination TKO artist. That's what I love about AJ, he's really well rounded and in the middle.
      But against Usyk he has to be a bit more aggressive and change his style up a little. More shots, less caution, more clinching, more backpedaling, and more strength conditioning are need.
      Work on quick yet powerful shots rather relying on wind up shots. He's got to throw more. Jab or swing and backpedal. Clinch when tagged but do not backpedal when tagged. Only backpedal to avoid individual shots.

    What's frustrating about AJ is he doesn't attempt to take tactics from his country predecessor in Lewis. It shows how amazingly blessed Lennox was. Because he rarely got gassed despite being the same size. And his jab kept you at bay on the outside or be hit with it. He also was a master of setting up punches off his jab. It's incredible that at 31 AJ still seems to be raw and still learning. I believe he still has not recovered psychologically from the temple/equilibrium shot from Ruiz. I saw Roy Jones get clocked by Tarver after Antonio knew he would have to eat some to land the Suzy Q.

    • @rockabye_baby187
      @rockabye_baby187 3 года назад

      @@irvinmorales1409 lol absolutely its funny you bring up Steward because after the fight I went back in time to watch the bout vs Tyson. In that fight...we all remember Steward chewing Lennox's ass out for his, at times, biggest flaw which was being passive aggressive when he shouldve hit the pedal and punished opponents. AJ has to hone how to not expend yourself early in fights and then be tired later on. Or wait to begin your scoring leading with defense first. Part of which is knowing what punches to attempt. The additional aspects to haggle over is of course remaining disciplined each round.

      @SCAN did you read what I said... You did not. I never said Usyk beat him because he was gassed. Number 2 Vitali was supposedly ahead by 2 on the score cards after Lennox opened that 60 stitch cut. Regardless he didn't finish the fight. Get your facts straight first then comment. I said he needed to emulate Lewis more as far as using the jab more effectively and frequently.

    • @29slowjoe
      @29slowjoe 3 года назад

      Lewis was alot more stationary than AJ relying on upper body movement which can get you in bad positions and Honestly AJ would smoke Lewis in my opinion.
      He struggled with an undersized over the hill holyfield and got wrecked by vitali.

    Usyks performance against aj was a masterclass, it was such a high level boxing match that we don't really see much of in the heavyweight division and as a boxing fan I appreciated it, usyk is such a phenomenal boxer and a humble champion I really hope he gets the fury fight beats him and become undisputed

  • @Zain-lf4gz
    @Zain-lf4gz 3 года назад +7

    everyone out there saying why didn’t aj try to impose his size and strength on usyk and pressure him.. how can he when Usyk landed big shots right from the first few rounds and showed he ain’t no middleweight he’s got enough pop to hurt HWs.. aj can’t outbox Usyk and will fail trying to bully him Usyk weighting 220 hasn’t lost speed, stamina and looked real agile.. Usyk to win rematch either UD or late stoppage

    • @billclark5055
      @billclark5055 3 года назад

      Well the thing is this, Usyk has faster hands than AJ. Also people with smaller reach actually have the edge in close range. They can land more shots in a shorter time because of how reach works.

    • @billclark5055
      @billclark5055 3 года назад

      This is what I recommend for AJ. Move in and immediately rip body shots. Go for Usyk's stomach with jabs the way Stipe did DC in their MMA rematch. Work on quickly ripping nasty stomach shots and backing up.
      Then once they engage, AJ should throw several jabs and backpedal. DO NOT STAY IN USYK'S RANGE at the center ring. Backpedpal to give himself time and allow himself to land a few jabs to steal rounds.
      When Usyk rushes in, throw body shots at the stomach to back Usyk up if AJ sees him coming. If Usyk gets AJ from the right angle and throws flurries, it's clinching time. Do not backpedal when tagged, instead always clinch when tag and practice clinching training.
      AJ should bring in Delboy to help him practice his clinches. Backpedalling when tagged just makes it easier to get hit again in most cases.
      Other tricks:
      1. Practice punching people's fists in Sparring. If Usyk gets overzealous AJ can punch his fists. AJ has the bigger hands, so it would hurt Usyk more and slow him down.
      2. Pound Usyk's elbows/arms when he rushes in with hooks. If you pay attention, you'll notice Usyk's elbows and arms were exposed several times when he advanced toward Joshua. AJ can capitalize on that next time.

    Well done... Boxing is all about the parrying, and feints to draw movements from your opponents to open up clear counter punch possibilities... Clever boxers can counter punch on the front foot... The biggest thing of all is the parrying though... Biggest difference between fury and Joshua... Instead of picking off the jab, Fury parry's and instantly responds with quick jabs and combo's... It's impossible to defend against.
    In my opinion, with Joshua's size, if he could master that style of boxing he would be almost unbeatable.
    Usyk can do it all because he totally set's control of the pace and forces AJ to throw punches with prior knowledge of how he's gonna counter...
    This defeat may just be AJs best boxing session ever because I truly believe he will come back a much better boxer after studying this defeat. I look forward to his return.
    Seen some great fights recently, too much hate going round when you consider we should all just be supporting these fighter's because they've given us something that the heavyweight division has been lacking for a long time... Competition.
    Well done to Fury, Usyk, AJ and Wilder... I don't really care about their personal character's, I only care about their superhuman abilities to compete with each other for our entertainment and they've all done themselves proud this last month if you ask me... Boxing is an incredible sport and we need to fully respect these guy's for what they do.
    Here's looking forward to an even better year ahead. Boxing is back 🥊

    AJ wasn't even throwing one-twos or double jabs to keep him at bay. He allowed Usyk in early on the activities and made him settle well. He wasn't leading the pace at all and really reacted very slowly. That's the slowest AJ I have ever seen, even when AJ gets hit, he moves out quickly and rarely allows the opponent's punch to land well. He pretty much just sat in there for a proper beating

    Don’t know what McCracken was thinking trying to get AJ to box Usyk. To win the rematch he’s going to have to turn it into a straight up fight. He’s outmatched in terms of speed, movement, ring IQ and endurance. Going to have to get up close, lean on him, hammer that body. Take his legs and lungs away. He’s the bigger more powerful fighter, Usyk isn’t going to want a physical fight.

Once Usyk could take a shot from Josh the fight was over , people don't realise that Usyk did take risks early on to draw him into the web. It was a masterclass. So much bullshit about Joshua's coaching but he was undone by a brilliant boxer who is also extremely durable.
