He is my wife's favorite singer. She goes crazy when she listens to him. In fact, on her birthday, I bought her Juan Gabriel's entire discography. I love to observe all the emotions that Juan Gabriel's music provokes in her.
Juan Gabriel is my favorite artist of all time. He is undoubtedly the most impactful Latin American singer songwriter of all time. His contribution to music all throughout Latin America was groundbreaking. Not only did he contribute to music but he broke cultural barriers with his more flamboyant lifestyle. It is said that every single person in Mexico knows three songs; the national anthem, las mananitas (birthday song), and a Juan Gabriel song. Querida has to be my favorite song of all time. I was born and raised in California but with two immigrant parents, Juan Gabriel and other great Latin artists were all I grew up listening to. This song holds a special place in my heart.
You should hear Te Sigo Amando, which is also a great song. It's about a breakup and how the person feels after it. It states self-reflecting but also wishing well to that person you used to love.

I love how connected you get to his singing. And how much you appreciate him. You gotta know he had all the ladies swooning. He was incredible.
Frankly he was a legend. His voice was so distinctive and he had such control of it that it’s mind blowing. He’s stage presence and charisma was also out of this world. He is greatly missed, Rest In Peace Juan Gabriel.

Can I just say I’m so jealous of you! I, like most Latinos my age, we grew up listening to him since we were babies. His talent was lost on us because we weren’t conscious enough to understand the brilliance. We of course love him but we’ve grown accustomed to his genius. Great reaction. Juanga is missed dearly. I had the chance to see him live and he kept the crowd on their feet dancing for the entire almost 3 hour show. Amazing song writer with more than 1300 songs written and performed by a long list of artists around the world…!! ! I rare mix of Freddy Mercury, Elton John and Elvis version en español….. cheers!!! 👊🏼😎

Juan Gabriel is not only a great singer but a great writer, he writes all his own songs and for many others. I think part of the reason we can feel his music is that he feels it and it just irradiates from within. He can be a little theatrical though =) But his shows are quite a treat, you never really know when they will end.
He connects to his fans because he writes all his songs with his experiences! No education, just pure talent!!!

This is one of those songs that is so good it got massively overplayed at it's height and many folks got sick of it it! LOL! Decades later, I can appreciate it again as it is an amazing song. To answer your question about whether or not he was an actor, he did make a few movies; mostly fluff about the same level as the ones Elvis did. He was a great showman and a prolific songwriter in addition to being a talented singer.

Juan Gabriel has always a message to share with the public and he is concentrated on that. And he just leave his heart and soul express that message. That's the secret of a good singer because the public feels if you sing with your heart or you just sing with your head.

Legend is right. Growing up my parents used to see him perform on tv in Mexico .and go to his legendary concerts In he's prime. We just didn't know and care we were to young. But for decades he became part of Mexican pop culture . Now that I'm much older I can actually say this guy was great.
