- Visit www.thelondonpianist.co.uk for more information! Solo piano arrangement of Big Star's Thirteen, taken from their 1972 debut #1 Album and written by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell. The song is in the key of B flat major, and modulates into the relative minor (Gminor) for the middle 8. The left hand here almost exactly replicates the acoustic guitar part. The lyric is a celebration of adolescence, apparently inspired by Chilton watching the Beatles on tour in 1964 when he was 13.
Thank you! I'm afraid I didn't use sheet music. I just worked out the chords (which are, basically, Bb and Eb :|| Cm, Gm, Cm, Gm, Bb/Fbass, Cm, Bb) and then tried to replicate the acoustic guitar part for the left hand, while the right hand simply plays the melody. I've tried to put the camera in a position so you can see the notes -- hope that's of some help.
