Valerie, my compost bin is out by my garden area where i have easy access when I need to put some in my garden and raised beds. I also leave a bag of soil next to it and a hand tool to mix a little soil in the bin when I need to. Then in my kitchen I keep a empty coffee container with the lid on, and that's what I put all my scraps in til its full, then take it out and dump in the compost bin. That saves me from running out there all the time! I also add a little water when I think it's too dry. So hope this gives you some ideas!❤
My vote is for you to keep the bin down by the garden. That will keep the little creatures and the smells away from your home. Also, in the evening after supper you can take a little walk down to the garden to add your compostable materials to the bin and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you stroll.
As a Master Composter, I agree. Compost should not smell. You want it near where you will be using it. I have always used the kind of bin that sits directly on the ground. I had thirteen large bins going at once and they provided a lot of nutrients for all sixty-two of our organic fruit trees, ten thousand square foot organic in ground garden and four 8' X 4' garden boxes, berry and grape vines, and herbs. I had a Compost tumbler but never really had any success with it. I'm hoping that you have better luck than I did. More than kitchen scraps and yard materials can go into your compost bin. I tear up toilet tissue rolls, paper towel rolls, clean old underwear (I remove the elastic), old kitchen towels that don't make it as a rag, shreed paper, and so many other things. Happy gardening.
NO NO NO...I AM HERE FOR EVERYTHING!! it all ties together!! Your life and family are an inspiration in my life. You take me away from all that is negative in the world today. Thank you so much!!!❤❤❤😊
No apologies needed for your content. I enjoy your family and you no matter what you post. I love watching your dream homestead come true. You can't do it all in a day. Thank you for allowing us to come along on your journey. Renovation, cooking, cleaning, gardening. It's all fun to see come together for your family. ❤❤
Milo sure was in a loving mood. 😊. The windmill is perfect by the garden, just a suggestion, spray it with a clear sealer so it will last for years to come. I had a side by side double compost tumbler. Enjoyed the heck out of it. Lasted about 15 years. Keep these wonderful videos coming! 😊
Yes, Millo is a silly cat and he loves to cuddle. 😂❤ I think the windmill looks pretty good where it's at but I think it's gonna look cute also with flowers planted around it. I think you should probably keep the compost bin down by the garden. I hope and pray Tim gets well soon! ❤🙏🙏
Hello Valerie. The picture you showed of the mountains at the beginning was beautiful, what a view! Love that precious Milo, and it was so sweet how he rubs his head against your face! He shows how much he loves you. Great video and I love the wind mill! Hope you and Tim feel better soon!
Greetings friends 😊 I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. I love the windmill!! It is adorable and I also love the water tote idea! It’s so necessary when you are growing food The weather in the Virginia Mountains looks absolutely beautiful this time of year. Your property looks so beautiful as well. I can’t help but notice all of your other subscribers that have mentioned how much they enjoy your videos as well. I can’t tell you how much I look forward to them Valerie. It looks as though I won’t be so lucky in this lifetime so I am living vicariously thru you all. Thanks for sharing your daily adventures with us. It means the world to see someone so deserving living out their dreams together
Great job - you built the windmill and compost bin in one day! Never tire of watching you, your family and the wonderful critters on your beautiful homestead. The flowers are gorgeous, and the seeds are sprouting. I am sure you will have a great garden. Tell Tim we are praying that he will feel better soon!
Your videos are so real, you don’t sugar coat anything and we get to see the good and the bad and we’re right there with you guys in everything that you’ve done…and I love it..seeing the town house getting ready for sale, fixing up the rental trailer and now the homestead…it’s a happy day when a new video is up…hope everyone feels better soon..
Milo is the typical cat. He want to love on you on his terms. It’s so sweet the way he rubs his head on your face. I have also seen him swat at you when he doesn’t want to be loved.❤
Milo sure is lovable today! Lol! So glad to see you feeling better! I love the mountains! Im so happy for you all! So for now I will just have to watch and enjoy your view. Prayers for Tim that he will feel better real soon to! ❤❤❤❤❤
I see Milo wants to be the star of the show. lol! Sounds like your gardens are going to be amazing, Valerie. You are so blessed to have such a beautiful place for you and your loving family. I always love visiting with you and your family no matter what you are posting. Awesome job on the windmill, Valerie. I probably would have given up.
Glad you are feeling better Valerie - that was quite a day for you between the windmill and the composter. Loved seeing Milo - hard to believe he was a stray you took in - he sure returned your affection. Thanks.
If the compost is going into the garden, I think placing the bin near the garden would work best. Love the windmill, but I think it definitely needs to go closer to the garden. Adding flowers around the bottom would look so pretty. I am glad you are feeling better. Tim needs to rest and get better too. Love you guys!
The windmill and compost looks nice in the garden. I would just put the bin on the inside of the fence. 🤷Shame man your voice still sounds like even you must take a few more days relaxing. Strongs for Tim. We pray the Lord brings the good bugs for the rest of the season🙏🙏
I would maybe find some flowers that crawl to wrap around your windmill . Something on a vine that would look beautiful. Maybe morning glories or something similar
Valerie you and one hard working woman. You and Tim are a blessing to watch. Love seeing you and Milo together. Glad you are over bronchitis and prayers Tim is soon feeling better. Keep on posting, whatever ya'll are doing, I enjoy it all. A real family, living an everyday life, with love and gratitude.
Keep the compost near the garden….They do get a smell….I keep a pail with a lid on my deck and then empty as needed..have gotten lots of black soil from it over the years…get better soon..😊❤️🇨🇦
Glad your feeling better and praying Tim recovers quickly. You two are doing such great planning and prep work. Looking forward to watching your garden grow and produce. Your are correct , I do watch for renovations on the mobile home but mostly for your sweet family. I enjoy watching you all do life, living out your dream. I look forward to your weekly video but would love to see more. You have no idea how many of us enjoy and look forward to you. ❤️
I am happy you are recovering Valerie and I hope Tim recovers quickly. I just love watching your videos. You and Tim are building a wonderful life style for yourselves and family.
Valerie, I love, love, love your videos so very much. I don’t care what you do as it is all so much fun to watch!!! You truly have the best channel on RUclips and I truly mean that!!!
Hello Valerie!! So glad your feeling better!!! Praying for Tim to feel better real soon!!! The windmill looks great!!! Id say keep the compost bin by the garden!!! You really accomplished alot in this video!!! The garden is going to be awesome!!! Until your next one take care and God bless 😊!!
Hi Valerie, I’m here for all your videos. 😊 In regards to the windmill, spray it with some polyurethane to protect it from the weather. If it did not come with steaks, you should put some around each foot. This will help keep it from blowing over. You should keep your compost bin by your garden. Happy gardening 🪴
Valerie, happy you are feeling better and hope Tim is on the mend. I nick nasturtium seeds with knife and leave them in wet paper towels until they germinate. That gives them a head start before they're in soil. I love nasturtiums and grow them every year. 😊
So glad you’re feeling better. Hope Tim gets better real soon. Sending a prayer up for him. I love your windmill. You did a great job putting it together. That Milo gives the best loving. He is so sweet.
Valerie, I love it when you cook and garden. Your pets are sweet and I love watching everything. It is such a treat to come home from a long day at work to see that you have a new video. It brings me peace somehow. I really enjoy it. Thank you and I am glad you are feeling better.
Get a countertop pail for compost while you're cooking then a couple times a week walk it down to the bin. I have a stainless steel one but they come in ceramic, too. My kitchen would be incomplete without it. The windmill is so cute. Perfect assessory for a mini farm. Feel better soon, Tim!
Get Tim to anchor your windmill in the ground better than those little silver anchors. They will not hold it in a strong wind! I have the same windmill. I found out the hard way that it needs better anchors. Glad you feel better! Those respiratory viruses will put you down and out. Hope Tim feels better soon😊
Just whatever y'all do i really enjoy ya. Like i said before . I wish families would act like yall. And i also know that no one is perfect but ya'll love and sweetness shows thru.....
I am so impressed with all you and Tim have accomplished.. just amazes me. ❤ fills my heart with all good feelings. You guys rock. 😊 I hope you guys are feeling better. I so look forward to all you do.
I'm glad that you are feeling better. I hope that Tim gets better soon. You did a great job of building the windmill and compost bin. I don't think I would have had the patience to do that. The compost bin is better off being near the garden. After you put scraps into it, it might draw flies or smell. I've never had one so I'm only surmising.
Hi Valerie! Another great video, you done amazing putting that stuff together your becoming a pro. Love the windmill. I think flowers would look beautiful around it. Glad Tim got to be on the video, not the same when he doesn’t make an appearance. I would leave the compost bin down by the garden. It would probably be easier. Glad you’re feeling better. Sending get well wishes to Tim. Ok see you in the next one 🙂
My first thought for bin was by garden. Milo is sweet. Prayers you all get well soon! My husband is the same, no resting. Love your windmill, so nice of your nieces to send it to you!
Hey Valerie. I always kept my compost bin/pile close to my garden. Remember to save your coffee grounds and egg shells for your compost. Love all your videos and hope both of you get well soon! The wind mill is so adorable and the compost is a great idea. If it was me I would keep the compost by the garden. Don’t want that smell and any bugs and small animals up by the house. Always love to watch your videos as soon as they are posted! 🍅🍓🍇🫐🧅🥒🥬❤️🙏🏻
Happy you are feeling better Valerie hope Tim is too. Great video I love watching everything you do inside and out. Thank you for sharing. I think I would leave the compost down by the garden. 💕
Bravo on the windmill!! You have better nerves than I have. Hope you and Tim start feeling lots better. You are a lovely couple. Love watching your shows.
I hope both you and Tim are feeling better. I'd keep the compost bin by the garden to keep any critters away from your home! Love the windmill from your neice too...
Great job Valerie with the windmill, and the compost thingy ma-gic😁. You did a great job on your video for tonight 🙂 fun to watch. Like how you added the fruit pic's and names on the screen too 🍇🍓 Oh that sweet Milo kitty😸 precious little guy. Glad to hear your feeling better. Tim... Get yourself well for us. Thanks for the good vibes from T and V’s Homestead!! I agree with another subscriber to keep the composting near the garden. The windmill is the perfect touch!
It's best to keep the compost bin near the garden so you don't have to cart the soil from it to your garden too far because that's where you're going to use most of it You keep a small pail near your sink to throw scraps in until its full then you carry it down to the composter. It's hard to keep a good man down I hope Granny doesn't get sick Keep Tim away from her until he's better It's best she stay in her room for now so she's safe Happy Days Ahead 🇨🇦🦩
Hi Valerie and Tim I enjoyed the video and the mountain view is awesome. That windmill gives your garden so much charm. I just love it. Take care and hope Tim feels better soon.
Hope Tim gets better soon. You sure did a good job putting that windmill together. I WOULD HAVE HAD A HARD TIME WITH IT. MILO IS SO SWEET. We love anything you post. You two are the sweetest couple ever. 💖
Thank you Valerie and Tim for sharing anything you do. After an afternoon in our overfilled garage working and then a little yard work it is a joy to put my feet up and enjoy your channel. Your seeds are doing great. Enjoy building your new homestead. 😊
Hello Valerie. I'm so happy you're feeling better, and I pray that Tom recovers real soon. I was so glad to get a video from you, as I look forward to our visits. You're videos are so refreshing and remind me of the love I shared with my late husband. You're such a sweet mother, wife and dear friend. I always look forward to our video time. Praying that God continues to bless and cover you and your family. Love & blessings always sweetie 😊❤
I enjoyed watching you put together these items. You sure are a determined lady and I admire that. There is lots of love between you and your cat. ❤️❤️❤️ Hope Tim feels better soon. Best wishes from Australia.
I'm glad you're feeling better, praying fir Tim to feel better really soon. I would keep the bin by the garden, so you don't have critters by the house.
Milo can’t stop loving on mama and thanking you for saving her. I started watching you to get out of assembling a recumbent exercise bike. After an hour I stopped after I put two parts on and did it backwards. 🤷🏻♀️ So now I’ll watch you assemble a windmill. ❤ You will be in my prayers for good health and speedy recovery. 🥰
Good video. Like seeing all your improvements. Gives me ideas! You have some great land with beautiful views. Have a good week and get that Tim healthy!
Glad you're feeling better and hopefully Tim will soon

I hope Tim is feeling better soon. He's such a hard worker. 🎉 Happy homestead 🎈
I hope Tim and you have a full and speedy recovery. Uou did such a great job putting together both the windmill and the composter.❤
Even any large canister at a thrift shop.
I love the outside videos as much or more than the renovations! But you know Valerie, they all are good!😊
Good well wishes to the whole family. ❤🙏❤
That windmill is so nice.... Hope Tim gets better soon. I know he hates it too.
Hope you get better soon.
Wow, your nieces will be so proud of you.
My late husband & i bought one years ago in Kansas & it got rusty but I always loved it. Bolt it in the ground so it doesn't take off . LoL 🤣😆
You did a good job. It looks great. I'm glad you anchored it.
I’d use “dog augers”. Easy to put in.
Valerie all your videos are great love Milo he is so cute love the windmill glad your feeling better and hopefully Tim will be well soon love you guys
Prayers for a speedy recovery for Tim, hope the rest of family stay healthy. 🙏🏻💜

Valerie and Tim I love watching this video, I love your garden,...ahhh, Milo is very funny and cuddle 😅, hehe, have a blessed day. 😊
I am here for all your videos I love them all thank you and Tim for sharing your journey 😊
I enjoy watching you and your family perform your daily activities. It doesn't matter what it is. I love the view,
