@@diydylana3151 The former style is what dominated the hardcore scene ~6 years ago. Anyone who was there knows this. Because a small handful of bands like Turnstile released records like this at that time, we now have a more stylistically diverse hardcore scene today
@@diydylana3151 What is important is that the scene has changed in such a way where the dominant style from that previous period is actually no longer the dominant style. Wow Turnstile get better with every record. Probably going to be one of the best funky/groovy hardcore records of all time. It's so refreshing to hear something like this in a sub genre that at times can be so stale and uninteresting. I love almost all genres and sub genres and sub sub genres of hardcore/punk but to be honest the modern straight edge/tough guy/jock core/metal nonsense is probably my least favorite. Ironically bands like Turnstile and Angel Dust were spawned directly from that scene and are a breathe a fresh air and are absolutely killing it right now. Totally unique styles every where from the song structures to the album artwork. Goes to show ya even after the 40 plus years hardcore/punk has been around you can still do something original with it and it can still be new and exciting. Not to mention Turnstile put on an absolutely intense live show. So get out your over sized t-shirts and multi colored high tops and do your most creative funk breakdown dance to Gravity.
Didn't know who yall were before Rotr made their list. Needless to say I'll be checking you guys out. you've filled a whole in my heart I didn't know was there lol.

From what I remember everyone LOVED this band when they first dropped, and I can't blame anyone for loving this band. They may have just been my area though.
Matt Cronin Training Turnstile are amazing, that's for sure, and I loved all of their work all the way from 'Pressure To Succeed' (not that they have many releases after that one though lol), but I can't agree that everyone loved them from the beginning.. :/

These dudes live are insane, they bring so much energy!
Hy
100% one of the best live bands ever
They can get people moshing on ballands
One of the only hardcorepunk bands around right now that doesn't sound liked beefed up tough guy shit
They don't have to try so hard to sound hard.
Yet... It was the toughest tough-guy shit out at the time because of their badass two-steps and heavy af riffs

@@joshbjorklund102 But not in 2014

for sure bro!
THATS TURNSTILE
Can you recommend any other HC bands with this vibe, my dude? I love this.

Brendan’s vocals sound like Nick Hexum. Particularly when he sings “It’s just the gravity.” 311 if they were a hardcore band.

The entire discog
This reminds me of Cult of Personality by Living Colour a little bit
Hell yeah! Great tune
Yes, this so much yes.
Living Colour was influenced by bands like Bad Brains--who were east coast hardcore. This is reminiscent of east coast hardcore.
Fuck yea! I betvtheyveould take that as a huge compliment
I want whatever youre smoking

I figured it out.. Turnstile is a mix of Terror, 311 and beastie boys. Sooo fucking sick!

Very" Helmet" influenced, I like it.Its a good step away from all the" core" bands nowadays.Takes me back to the 90's.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who got Helmet vibes. I can also feel some Prong in parts.
Yes there is definitely a sound reminiscent of Helmet..
No wonder I fucking love it so much

yet another turnstile banger
Wanna see these boys again

metal AF riffs with punkish clean vocals
