105 land cruiser is the best. Kedron caravan put out a video years ago towing a big van through cape York with one that was stock. What a beast of a 4wd no turbo and diesel.
Thank you Stefan - my wife and I really enjoyed this series and are looking forward to the next one! Great footage - especially that beautiful dune fly-over at 16:48 - great narration and very well produced. You have put a lot of work into this and we are very grateful to you. Makes us want to go bush again. We're planning an Easter escape somewhere in low range with the kids + camper. I need to brush up on my off-road driving, much of which I learned in an '04 Suzy GV around the Zig Zag tracks with the Suzuki club, many years ago! Really appreciate your attention to detail and approach to sensible track driving and safety etc. Big cheers and thank you - Dave and family
I did 9 Days on foot in May 2013 the flies were there constantly- so early winter no difference Re flies. Arrive 5 am and leave Sundown - needed to eat with a flynet over head during day and eat after dark evenings. My back was covered in flys - walked 305 km into Birdsville. Charity walk with 16 others. Time of my life - brilliant. Loving your videos Best and safe travels Di.
That eagles nest has been there a long time we came across it in 1994 the Parent birds 🦅 were keeping an eye on it from a close by sand dune as we peeked in the nest at 2 chicks huddling up and being quiet so not to be detected . I guess cars chased them off and being a low nest what else could they do . Great memories not as green as your trip. Powder dry on ours hard going but great fun crossing 👍
I run the same shocks on my 76 series and love them. They just ate up the corrugations for breakfast and after fine tuning them for the desert, they were brilliant.
The "New Cafe" in Birdsville looked like the old Blue Poles Gallery and Cafe that was started and run by Wolfgang John and his son Karsten. Wolfgang was a fantastic Simpson Desert artist - we still have a print of his "French Line" painting in our lounge room. His gallery and cafe was a fantastic place to visit - and in the evening he'd has a firepit - great place to sit for a yarn. And I found the new cafe website - photos of Don Rowlands who I guess must be the new owner of the cafe - will definitely call in there next trip. And just to add, Wolfgang passed away in 2017.
@@AlloffroadAu Yes - the new cafe you walked in to was actually the same building as the Blue Poles cafe and gallery was in. It closed maybe 10-12 years ago so may have been before you were travelling out there.
Update: Stephen received the Patrol back over 6 weeks later. It turned out to be the new torque converter (lost a few bolts which are clamp to the flex plate). At present, the Patrol is still with Wholesale Transmission (in the 3rd week) and waiting for a new torque converter.
@@Malc664 Yes, a rocket rod conversion. I am hoping it is not a re-occurring problem! Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired too. I suggested several "tweeks" to make the conversion a little more user/fitter friendly - never even got a thanks.
@@trickster8635 the question which arise is what the real reason is for loosing the screws from the back plate? Photo could tell. Screw ? Threat till the hexagon head? I would not use in this position. Bolt ? Short shaft till the hexagon head, shaft bolts 10.9 or 12.8 with HV washer. Power & torque upgrade? Flex plate 1 pc or 2 pc?? If they crack around the bore hole must use ellipse formed flat steel over 2 bolts each. The experts should know that… Cheers
Another great episode Stefan. More interesting info. Lots of negative feedback on the Dobinsons hey. A couple of people I know run them on 105’s and swear by them. But hey. Different conditions , weights and setups make them work different so work for some and not others Keep ‘em coming mate 👌
Finally got around to viewing the final of this series. Amazing how quick that landscape changes with a bit of rain. Water everywhere LOL. Just curious as to where you guys sourced the firewood as my Simpson desert permit forbade the use of local (Simpson Desert Conservation Park) wood. Thanks for another enjoyable series.
We have a few places, Alroy station on the way is a good place where I can always pick up good Gidgee, Between Mt Dare and Old Andadoo and on the way to Birdsville are also a few spots we usually like to collect.
Curious about the Pajero spinning in the wombat holes. He was driving fast. Could he have gone slower and still made it through there without spinning wheels? The ifs is still not superior to solid axles offroad.
no, I don't think so if you have traction control and little articulation, you need to drive a little faster to actually get the TC to kick in. I think IFS could be superior but no manufacturer has yet produced a proper off-road IFS suspension set up. That it can be done is shown in at the KOTH and Baja.
Haha another Dobsinsons junk failure. I had some MRR, they started weaning oil from the hose connection at around 30 000km, they were totally gone at 60 000km. And this was 95% bitumen driving. Stock shocks lasted longer. Dobinsons advice was to service them every 70 - 100 000km. Junk brand that spend more money on marketing than building anything decent.
@@AlloffroadAu Not just Dobinsons but remote reservoir shocks in general when you stress them in the desert. Seen other brands leak on Madigan Line and GVD. Too complicated.
@AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV was on a ranger FB page and every third post was cant believe this failed... then normally 10 to 20 thousand kms... some were even first trip away less then 2000kms

20+ Year Old Bushman Fridge! We love it :) And the green grass in the Simpson was unexpected. Thanks Stefan
Love my Bushman, only 11 years in, though!

That must have been am awesome trip. I had been two month earlier as well and we had hardly any files go figure.

Was it Rocket Rods conversion that failed? I hope it's not a common thing.
Yep, would be interesting to know the real reason.
Btw. What would the “Loctite-men” recommend??? 243 all day …. 😅😅😅

@@holgermuller2987 Might be a case of doubling- up on the number of bolts for the torque convertor, given the vibrations given off by a diesel engine.

THANK YOUFOR SHARING THE VIDEO
Another great series thanks for sharing

Nice capture of the bird, looks like an Australian Hobby mate 👌😁
Thanks 👍
Fantastic vid mate, lovely footage, information and edit ❤
Thanks a ton!
Enjoyed the trip details. Python sighting and drive in rain was adventurous. Big Red was nice and different from ours here!
Glad you enjoyed it
Good mates crossing overland through the geo-centre… nice memories

Interested to know if the Landcruisers front and rear lockers were engaged when travelling up the dune?
no lockers engaged or needed as I never lost contact with the ground due to bigger tyres and suspension travel
Great series, thoroughly enjoyed watching!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Old mate needs to get rid of the GU ute and get a decent patrol, like a GU 4.8 TI and chop that into a ute
his Patrol is pretty nice and build for his purpose auto conversion and torque converter are new though.
Also i am looking for a heavy duty LTE/4G/5G Antenna... Are there any recommandations?
have a look at GME's offerings
Great vid again what type of auto is in the GU ute ?
Nissan 5 speed RE5.
How come we haven't seen any Discovery 3 action??
Hm better not
What's with the "premiere". Clicked on the link and it's over.
was a live premier
where to get such a flag?
You can purchase the SandFlag here amzn.to/3m4Kcj8
