  • In her first on-camera interview in decades, singer-songwriter Joy Lynn White sits down with journalist and 90s music fan Joseph Fenity at the musician’s home near Memphis.
Signed to Columbia Records in 1992, Joy Lynn released her debut album Between Midnight & Hindsight that same year. In 1993, she was nominated for Top New Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs), along with Martina McBride and Michelle Wright, but lost to Wright. A critical favorite, reviewer Alanna Nash once described Joy Lynn as "a fiery redhead with a wild-and-wounded delivery and an attitude that says she’s not to be ignored."

Love her and this album. Been a fan for many years. That being said and I don't say this about hardly any any albums at all, Between Midnight and Hindsight, in my opinion is a flawless album from start to finish. There is not one song I skip when playing it. Everysong on there is dynomite! Love you, Joy

I went to high school with Joy. Shot a video of her singing a song she had written and playing guitar in a TV Productions class in 1978. In 1992 I found out she was a rising country star. Never a CW fan, now I realize that those songs were great. Here's to a comeback, Joy White!

Loved seeing this! Joy performed for our house concert series in Scotch Plains, NJ way back in 2006. Drove to the show with her friend Melissa all the way from (I think) Nashville. I'm left with great memories of that time. Her powerful voice remains one of my all-time favorites.

Long time fan! Her songs are always in my rotation, and I've turned several friends and girlfriends onto JLW over the years. Too Gone to Care is phenomenal!

I met Joy at a record store performance in Birmingham Alabama when she was promoting the first album. That record was in HEAVY rotation in my house at the time. I have been searching the internet for her for years. Thanks for finding her!

I’d been searching for years too-just like you! I’m also glad we’ve found her. Thank you for celebrating JLW’s voice.

This is wonderful. I was a Big Joy White fan, Big Kelly Willis fan. Mandy Barnett. I Loved Lari White so much. All of them should have been huge. Lisa Stewert as a regular on Music City Tonight. I waited in vain for her second album to be released. Never found out what happened to it?

THANK YOU ! , Lady for doing his interview ,...
personally Im a heavy metal fan , but always thought your voice would have added to rock and roll just as well
I would think with your talent youd be rubbing elbows at dolly partons sewwin bee
but we dont always get what we deserve in this reality
your song "an eception" should have destroyed the adult contemporary stations back in the day

I dated Joy in high school. She's as lovely now as she was back then. The soul shines through.

Some truth ... I only took her out once and not asking her again was probably the biggest mistake I ever made. She was smart, intelligent, and beautiful ... played a great guitar. I was a senior and when I found out she was two years younger than me, I got scared, I panicked. Boy was I stupid. :-(

I had 15 minutes of Nashville success, and did a record/poster signing sitting across from Joy Lynn at Tower Records in Nashville, and she was every bit as blazing hot in person. I think we met eyes and I wish I had talked to her, lol

Terrible interview. Your way too big of a distraction. Interrupted. It seemed you tried to make it about you.
