  • The Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System is a concentrated solar thermal plant in the Mojave Desert. It is located at the base of Clark Mountain in California, across the state line from Primm, Nevada. The plant has a gross capacity of 392 megawatts (MW). It uses 173,500 heliostats, each with two mirrors focusing solar energy on boilers located on three 459 feet (140 m) tall solar power towers. The first unit of the system was connected to the electrical grid in September 2013 for an initial synchronisation test. The facility formally opened on February 13, 2014. In 2014, it was the world's largest solar thermal power station.

Definitely one of the more interesting plants. Thanks for a new video!
Been trying to find factual details on more recent qtrly or yearly production stats for this facility- just ‘capacity’ stats. NRG supposed to publish but I cannot find it.

Here before the algorithm gives this to many, many fallout gamers. Expect to hear "Patrolling the mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter." a few times.

I’m not a gamer so I’m familiar with the reference. Haha!

@@Martys.Corner I tried posting a long response but it looks like RUclips ate it.
It's a reference to Fallout New Vegas, where characters regularly say that line about a nuclear winter. It has the Ivanpah Solar facility but they call it Helios One.
Anything Fallout related is trending because Amazon recently launch a TV series based on the games.

@@Martys.Corner no problem buddy! If I were a youtuber type and I was looking to capitalise on this trend, I'd probably play a bit with the hashtags, maybe even make a longer video after reading the fallout fan wiki on Helios One and comparing it to the real world Ivanpah Solar facility. Might get you a few more eyes, y'know?
Hope the algorithm smiles on you friend.
