Hi! I'd love to build a bed frame like this. What sort of wood(s) would you recommend for the side rails and footboard that will be sturdy enough but still cost effective? Some of the hardwoods (like oak and poplar) that came up when I did a general search were out of my budget, unfortunately.

Very simple and cost effective. The brackets are nice for a single person install and to be able to remove and setup in the future. Great work! 👍

It was weathered oak by minwax and finished with furniture wax
