Perhaps the best soundtrack for a game ever made. This game had crazy atmosphere. By the end of the campaign, I really felt the fate of my race was depending on the final battle. I think this game gave me grey hair.
The first song Adagio For Strings is played both in the beginning of the first level of the game then in the 3 level. The first time its played to give a sense of awe and wonder with a hint of sadness of a people soon to leave there home to search for a long lost homeworld. When you hear it in the 3rd level it becomes one of the most heart wrenching songs in the game as you return home to see it burning infront of your eyes. After that level you feel one thing. To kill the ones who wiped it out with no mercy.
I have only seen a lets play of that scene but it had full effect. I was speechless, petrified, heck the entire world around me stopped turning and there I was, sitting in utter disbelieve. You know its a good game if it makes you feel.
Lamb of god, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of god, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us Lamb of god, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Ariel Lara Um... you do realize these are the lyrics that are being sung in this video right? Well, the english version, they're singing the Latin version....
Damn, Adagio for Strings just triggers me. With random tech noises it's the mothership launch, without... "No one's left... Everything's gone... Kharak is burning..."
The only negative criticism I've read for the game was the missions being too short. Having played it I can see the truth in that. That's the only minus point about the game. Excellent music, excellent (for the time) graphics, with the gameplay and 3D control being outstanding. The voice actors deserve special mention for conveying perfectly the grief and suppressed rage that was felt by the Kushans. Landmark game, I think.
The opening movement hits harder when you realize the Gaalsiens were right about everything. If only the Mothership crew knew before they made the first jump.
@@DarkSamael55 Yeah... a shame, the game had great potential. There are definitely good ideas in there, but the writing just completely let's it down. Why they decided to shift the narrative style so drastically eludes me.
I think you're high. I know for at least the first track, it's actually not an original composition. The first piece in this video is "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber, composed 1936 (according to Wikipedia's article). My mother listens to it, she didn't even know it was connected to this game.
For Homeworld 3 the devs must look to another classical song than recreate the dedication of the new hiigarans for find out the secrets of the progenitors, wait, the damn wait.

I remember breaking the game on the prior mission capturing all the ion frigates around the gate inhibitor. :3
What's wrong with your whole race going extinct? Are you racist? Ah, you're non-white, then ok

It also plays as the finale music, during the final mission, once Captain Elson jumps in.
"Kharak... is burning..."
becomes the most heart wrenching song in any game ever!
There is nothing left for us here .... Let's go.

Excellent music/soundtrack .. gives me the chills.
The remastered homeworld is now out on steam! Let us all be drawn into the experience as we were back in 1999 with this epic game. Thank you Paul.

I know, right? It's been 15 damn YEARS since I played this, and I still tear up a bit at the sound of this song.
Dude I just got goosebumps while reading that... O_O

Rather there should have/could have been more missions overall. Do i know it might have ended up as being padding.

My biggest critique of the game is that it only have two playable races and they are way too similar.
Soon, the journey shall begin anew!
+LtCWest You have no idea man, you have no IDEA! Watch the explosions in China. The greatest one is to come.

This music is from another world. I think the inspiration is unknown. The end of times. I mean the First.
i'm not kidding this gave me goosebumps, my body hairs were standing for like a minute

First few seconds of the song must require the spoken words, " *MOTHERSHIP* "
Love this!
