Homeworld was epic, but adding the Beast makes it epic _and_ terrifying

I wish there was a game where we'd got to see the Taiidan perspective. I feel that the story of Captain Elson who turned from Taiidan Imperial to rebel or something similar would work well in a protagonist role.
They had to deal with a lot while the Kushan were on their own voyage.

For a while I've really wanted a Homeworld RTTS game (Real Time Tactical Stealth, like Shadow Tactics or Desperadoes) that could give us a closer look at the people of the setting while still being somewhat related to the RTS gamepley. I was thinking of something involving inter-kith politics either pre-HW1 on Kharak, or afterwards on Hiigara but now that you mention it, the Taidan Civil war could also be a really good basis for a game like that.

00:46 Imperial Battle sounds confident, steady, you can almost hear the authority and royal scent from it. However, in Cataclysm 10:10 Taiidan battle they were defeated, scattered, broken, severed from their emperor and hence descended into semi-madness and rage, even helping a space monstrosity in exchange for a surreal promise that to restore their empire. The succession of instruments from the two tracks and the utterly different emotion they try to deliver is a masterpiece. Cataclysm's soundtrack in terms of the "space feel" is on par with the original HW, and it's an eternal shame that the game didn't get a remake and its soundtrack was never released.

Sadly, Cataclysm's Source Code is lost to us, at least for now... Hopefully one day it shall come back into the light and be found, just as that Dev Kit with the Halo 2 builds on it was and the cut Halo CE stuff and stuff from before Halo was an FPS, if the hard drives containing various Lego Games files can be found so too can Cataclysm's Source Code.

Funnily enough, I think in Imperial Transmission the man speaking is a Soviet announcement, and from what I was able to discern, the announcement is about Yuri Gagarin being the first man in space. I might be wrong tho

@@countrygeneralbecause of this distorted transmission about successful Yuri Gagarin's space flight. There isn't much sense here, I agree, but I can't throw thought out of mind if it happens. The outskirts of Kadirr (13:07) makes me think of the region of space being haunted and if I remember correctly that's when the The Beast is turning people into bio-warheads.

I think in sci fi boardings often forgotten that boarding is comitted with a goal in mind. And that is to conquer a ship most of the time. Who knows how much vital innards of a ship can be destroyed if both sides went in there all guns blazing. I think melee, as outdated as it might soudn for a sci fi universe, is a risky but viable option to fight in ships.

If (as people seem to have a consensus on) the imperial transmission is a distorted speech about Yuri Gagarin then I think the purpose in Homeworld is to let it sound like a propaganda speech of the eeevil Taiidan Empire. Certainly succeeds to give that feeling.

It's always portrayed that the Taiidan where a merciless, ruthless and brutal empire... wich is true. But Kushan and later Hiiragan aren't actually much better. It was alsways in perspective. Taiidan didn't seem so bad when we encountered the Vaygr. The Hiiragans also crushed any opposition. We can see their Mindset on Kharak when they fought each other.
