My cats are always hungry as well. They are heathy. I think they eat so much because they are bored. Even if I play with them, they need more stimulation. I plan to walk them outdoors. I never seen an outdoor cat so desperate to eat all the time, that s because they are provided more stimulation and things to do. Also, outdoors cats do not suffer from mental issues and do not run into binge eating.
I love his little "merp feed me I'm hungry."
When I switched from very expensive no grain dry food to wet, my cat lost 3 pounds and was no longer grunting when she walked, bloated or gassy. She now looks and acts healthier and happier. He coat is also much softer and silky. I had always believed dry was better because it would keep their teeth healthy! Nope. Thanks Dr.

My cat is panicky around food. She acts desperate. She was extremely thin when I got her from the rescue, so I think she was starved when she was young. She and her littermate were found on the highway, looks like somebody dumped them 😣She was eight months old when I got her. I feed her four times a day. She still asks for her food an hour ahead of time! She has seen the vet about it but they don’t find anything wrong.
Check if it has hyperthyroidism
same with my kitty. i found him when he was about 4 weeks old he was dirty and malnurished and he’s 9 months now and i feel like he’s been recently getting worse with his panicky frantic mood when it comes to food. he just goes insane running around the room until i feed him. if i even get close to the food container or i accidentally move it and he hears it he just goes insane until i give him some 😟 idk what the problem is and how to make him calm. ive had him on a feeding schedule his whole life and i’m giving him correct amount of food a day for his weight and age

I just had to put my sweet kitty down. He was injured by an incompetent Veterinarian during his neuter when he was younger. He survived 9 years but never recovered completely. My vet said that I probably should let him go. He was hungry all of the time but losing lots of weight. I had to make the hardest decision in my life. I have been so brokenhearted. I miss my Coco, terribly. 😥

I had to get 2 of my cats put to sleep in the last 3 weeks so understand the lonely feelings & missing their individual ways, they are family members & much loved.

Orange cats seem more food driven, don't know why but that is what I have noticed.
I agree! Sometimes I think the neighbors can hear him! It’s like he’s screaming at me for food! I am part of the problem too. I’m such a sucker!
Hi! Murray is so sweet. He talks to you.😊 I make observations on my inside and outside prides and I think my inside cats are bored. I do feed the outside cats, too. But, they are not begging me to eat. They eat all the food at once, like dogs and then go about outside stuff they do. My inside cats follow me to the kitchen. Always. When I feed them I only give them a spoonful because they waste anything more. They're not really hungry. It's something to do. I'm sure that there are medical reasons, like diabetes for some cats. My inside guys are ok. So, boredom in cats is like boredom in people I guess. This is just my theory.
I had an older cat that started wanting to eat all the time it got to the point where it was eating four cans of cat food a day come to find out he had cancer and his stomach muscles were gone had to put him to sleep it was so sad he purred he wanted until he took his last breath

One of my cats has this issue, she overeats and throws up. I bought an automatic feeder that drops small amount 3x a day. I also spilt a can of wet food with her and her siblings each day. Ginger is very clingy and likes to bite my hands. Poor girl has anxiety, food seems to be a redirection of her prey drive.

Also, I don’t think I’ve ever heard Murray’s meow in any of the videos he’s been featured in until now. And of course it happens in a video about cat hunger 😅

Hi there! I def have one of those cats who could eat all day, constantly pacing around when I’m in the kitchen rubbing against my legs, meowing like he’s starving! Had full blood work and urinalysis done recently when he wasn’t acting like himself, not eating much and sleeping a lot, constantly laying down, no climbing or jumping. Turns out he had kidney inflammation, was flagged very high on his test results. Did the course of antibiotics and is taking a vitamin supplement twice daily now. Are some cats just “that way” naturally? He was a street cat so he eats like it’s his last meal every meal while my other home raised cat is just the opposite!?? He’ll inhale his in 5 mins then go and eat hers if i don’t watch him. She eats in my bedroom now with the door closed so she can eat in peace! However i do find that feeding throughout the day in smaller portions with side dish of kibble for in between snacking does help and he’s not overweight but he is a much larger cat than Muffin naturally. Do you think it’s because of him being a street cat that he eats the way he does?
My cat meows and won’t allow me to walk down the hallway. She tries to trip me until I feed her! If I’m sitting she pokes me with her paw consistently! She comes around every 2-3 minutes. Feeding time WAS when we woke up & around 5:30pm. Not any longer! The “dinner” time has changed to 3:00pm if I can hold out that long! I will try 4 very small meals a day. Murray is adorable!

Hi Dr. Jones love love all your advice. I started the natural an over the counter treatments for my bunnies rabbits. An now my cat an dogs. My cat has just started being hungry more often. He's about 7 yrs. old. I had another kitty years ago like this an the Dr. diagnosed him with feline leukemia. He just kept loosing weight. An yalling all the time. He was an older boy. Do you have advice about this disease?

I have a large neutered male cat that is always hungry. I do scheduled feeding and he still wants food between meals. I don’t oblige as he is already overweight.
I am going to take him in and have him checked for medical conditions as he will be 11 this year. But truly he is simply a food-fiend.

He may have diabetes especially if you feed dry kibble.

Good luck, doc... you’re as big a push-over as I am haha. You mentioned thyroid problems as a possibility, so I’m wondering about the iodine content of the food that Murray eats but things like cod, shrimp, turkey breast and canned tuna all have a reasonably high amount of it and may be inadvertently perpetuating the problem... just a thought. One thing I didn’t hear on your list of things to eliminate is inflammatory bowl disease, but I’m assuming that Murray’s GIT is working fine 😉

Greetings. thanks as always. I have three that are gluttons. Also, yesterday a 6 yr. old male cat; named 'Marshmellow' was euthanized. He is now buried under a barberry bush in my yard. All the time he lived here after we rescued him from the street; he quarreled with my other male cat, Mr. Sen. Blood work, de flead, de wormed, vaccs and rabies. Neutered; ears done up. He seemed content for a while, until quarantine was over and he was allowed with the others. This led to urinating where ever Mr. Sen was or had been. This hatred between these two resulted in fights. Bad fights. So, back into his own room with one female. So, 4 yrs later and the territorial urinating continued; so I brought him to Vet and after exam. she saw what she thinks is cancer in his lower jaw.
It is always unsettling in a huge way to make that decision for end of life for an animal. It is hard. But, I think it was the only thing to do. Kind of heavy hearted. Take care, all. Stay well.
I hate you for sending a young cats life. Just because you didn't want to use a credit card to save him. He could have lived another 5 years with the right meds.
I dont know if you'll see this but my cat has very long hair and cant groom his hind end very well so he constantly has huge mats all down his back legs, but he wont let me help him fix it. What should I do??

I have a manx just a year old and she is hungry a lot. I give her two meals and a small snack in between because once she starts getting too hungry she starts chewing on my metal bedframe or random metal objects. I wonder if she is mineral deficient. Vets here don't seem to concerned but she is pretty large for her frame. What should we do?
Hi dr please help me, my little kittens have worms in their watery stools, and vomiting my dr gave them injections for this 2 things and ask to give deworming syrups after one day

HAHA! I have 2, healthy, almost 4 month old kitties that... whenever I open a can of food, they materialize right in front of me. At least it seems that way. They zoom as fast as they can to the plate. Most of the time, I am still getting the food out of the can and they've got their heads right in there. They crowd out the 2 bigger cats. The 4 cats get 1 can between them twice a day. They also zoom to me when I am cooking toast. They know I might put butter on it and some might fall into their mouths.

My rescue kitty just recently "learned" how to meow and only uses it to beg for food and it's adorable. He still mainly eats dry but I do have some canned food for his cute little self!💚💚💚💚💚

My cat was diagnosed with diabetes in January. We have slowly gotten him away from carbs. It’s been a journey ! I am hopeful CBD can help him as he keeps getting a sore on his shoulder.
Your breed of cat can also affect this. I have 2 cats that are a mix of main coon and a couple other cats. After some tests the vet said theyr actually genetically mostly main coon even though their appearance is the opposite. He said my cats need some extra protein. I also provide a large environment to play (though indoors) after a change to diet and using stuff like mint spray to encourage activity I saw huge changes! My cats ate eating more but are leaner and for lack of a better vocabulary healthier looking! I'm very proud!
Dont feed your pets cheap food because in the end you will pay for it
Found our Boots across the street at less then a month old. She was begging for food so we took her in. I had 2 dogs at the time so really did not need another pet but she was in need so we did. Took her to a vet right away and she was checked and she had the usual worm problem .Got her fixed at 6 weeks old. She is a house cat. Never goes out, She is now almost 7. With this said,I get up very early so she meets me at the bedroom door and I feed her a little kibble. After this about an hour or so later she wants more so I giver her a little wet food about a quarter of a can and the she snacks on kibble here and there during the day. She weighs 10 pounds which is good as she has weighed the same for years. She makes a little noise as a low meow. Usually, when she does this she is alerting me to a fly, wasp or moth lol

My 18 year old cat is suddenly hungry. I took him to his doctor. He ran some blood tests, checked for worms, couldn’t find anything wrong & said don’t over feed him but do give him a little more at a time to see when he backs off. Well he isn’t backing off. I think he would eat till he passes out! He even went for the dog food 😳
Someone said to give him dry kitten food with his wet food because of the extra fat & nutrients. Is that a good idea?
I'm sorry but he's probably dying. I've seen this before. They eat like they're about to starve but don't gain weight then they stop eating, get lethargic for 2 or 3 days then they pass on. Usually in their sleep.
I know it hurts but 18 years is great. You did something right.

You were right. He passed away Saturday morning. Thursday & Friday night he slept with me and hasn’t done that in a long time. I was holding him in my lap Saturday morning while having my coffee & he fell asleep forever.

I have 16yo male cat that is thin but maintains her weight. He is constantly hungry. He eats about 9 oz of canned food a day plus dry food.He has stomatitis of the gums and most of his teeth removed. He was not well until the vet put him on a monthly regiment of anti-biotics for life about 4 months ago. His bloodwork is all good but he has been eating like a horse ever since he stated the anti biotics 4 months ago. other than that , he seems to be a very healthy 16yo kitty. Any ideas or are we just over concerned. ?
Maybe it's the antibiotics because the helicobacter is gone it makes them more hungry.
It seems the choice is reduce their lifespan and increasing their risk of diabetes, or feeding them when they are hungry to keep them from suffering constant hunger. I have opted to give my Amber plenty of food because she truly does seem to be miserable when she's hungry. She is overweight but not drastically so; and the vet keeps close check on her. We do have her on a special food the doctor prescribed that helps prevent urinary tract problems like bladder stones.

My cat Manny is the same! Every 2hrs begging& he’s non stop meowing! You’d think he hasn’t eaten in days! He’s been check for yrs, no health issues, just loves food! I switched him to pre made raw& try to keep it to 1 cup a day..I said try 😬I’m a sucker& I certainly am guilty.! how can I say no!?
So you struggle like the rest of us! Lol, I feed them super small meals 4 times a day on a set schedule and give so much attention that they run and hide from me instead of insisting I feed them 🤩 oh and I also learned that not all book shelves, counter space, cabinets, desk, basically any where that has space for a cat to perch app on doesn’t needs stuff on or in it

If my cat had her way, she would prefer to eat every 2 hours! As a Ragdoll, she is very talkative and loud; trying to use her powers of persuasion that she is STARVING! I'm her third human caregiver, so I'm having to work with her oversized appetite. 🤔

My cat is on prednisolone and the vet says that is why she is always hungry. I’m not sure about that. She is 13 pounds and just over a year old. She has asthma and needs the meds.

Maybe your cat needs more stimulas in his day. Can he go outside on a tether? Or ona leash? Vcould be he is bored & eating is his main entertainment. Sometimes when Im in yhe yard working I tie my cat to a tree nearby. She enjoys sniffing, watching birds, chasing mice & insects, etc.
I miss my big fat max cat😭 but if you have a chubby cat, do what you can now so you dont lose them like I did. It's like losing a member of the family
Just spent $450 trying to find out why my dog only eats every 3-4 days. He refuses dry dog food of any kind so I bake chicken for him. If I have hamburgers I give him a little also. Helpppp
Do you have cats? He might be sneaking eating their food.
Switch the food until you find one he likes. Some dogs are very picky.
Try a raw diet - search B.A.R.F. diet here on YT. My dogs are thriving on it since I switched. Do your research before switching! And *NO* cooked bones! Dogs can digest raw bones, but cooked bones are asking for intestinal problems or death. Good luck 🤗

@@lar4305 I had to change his food. He definitely calmed down since. He was like a heroin addict on the previous stuff! Absolutely insane 😂

@@lar4305I changed to whiskas pouches plus grain elite hard food. Higher protein. Mixed it in with the pouches. It helped to curb his appetite

You lost me at diabetes. If Murray had been eating a species appropriate diet he would not have gotten diabetes..... the diabetes can be reversed on a cat if fed appropriately so why isn’t this Vet doing that??? Hmmmm
I guess you’re new here and I guess you’re not getting the context of the video as well. I adopted Murray when he was relinquished in a friend’s clinic. Murray was severely overweight and on insulin maintenance. Fast forward, his blood sugar is now controlled and off insulin. If you watched the whole video, it’s actually behavioral/emotional attachment to food. Hmmm. But sure. Love it when people judge.
And what you said about diet is something I have been emphasizing over and over.
