hell yeah that looked like fun
Hi, from your experience, where is better to do bouldering? Ticino or Albarracin?
Thanks
Hi. It depends on your preferences. In Ticino you have very good granite. Besides sharp ledges and edges, here you also have less "round exits" at the top. In Albarracin you have therefore very good and still mostly rough sandstone. However, not comparable with Bleau, but also many holes and lips. But the exits are again relatively often comparable to Bleau. My feeling is that it is somewhat easier to boulder in Albarracin, especially if you like roofs and train a lot in gyms, because the style is often similar. In addition, in Albarracin the approach to the different spots is much easier and more family friendly.
@@BoulderTheWorld pergect, I live in Bellinzona, so I am in a habit in Ticino. But I wanted to hear some opinions about Albarracin! Thanks very much!
Albarracin is absolutely great!
- Two central parking for all spots, partially covered for shade
- All areas are very accessible, the vast majority can be reached even with strollers.
- The weather is mostly good and dry, the days long (especially in summer)
- The campground is large and relatively inexpensive, offers mobile homes and guest rooms in addition to pitches, also a small restaurant. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to the central parking where you get to the spots
- The town itself is phenomenally beautiful and there are many delicious restaurants.
- The rock is mostly very good. Even older routes can still be climbed well. As mentioned before, there are a lot of washed out parts, which leads to good holds, holes and edges.
- The guidebooks / 27crags are up to date and mostly error free
- The climbing is fun and should suit boulderers who usually train in the gym.
- Many of the known problems are also in roofs, but there are also vertical and positive problems en masse.
In summary: For every boulderer Albarracin is an absolute must!
Thanks very much, very kind! So I hope to go there soon when the COVID-story will be over 🙏🏻
