You're an absolute beast dude, love the work ethic. On a platform where theres so many fake people, who give bullshit advice, its refreshing to see someone make real content and show some real hard work.
Hey the events typically provide you a swim cap. Practice these this week: Swimming in suit. Peeing in suit. Taking off wetsuit. Also: get some body glide for bike ride chaffing. Go get it man
Usually you woudl wear your trisuit under the wetsuit. If the water is cold you'll want the wettie. It also can help you swim faster as it has a bouyancy effect.
Definitely want a chafe stick and apply around neck and under arms and shoulders. Also get in for a swim with the wetsuit on before as it will feel restrictive. Relax when you start your swim...don’t go out guns a blazing no matter how jacked up you are. On the bike I set my garmin to alarm every twenty minutes to remind me to eat I then eat a third of my calories per hour. I save gels for the run if I have them at all otherwise I’ll eat fruit at aid stations. I’ve seen another racer actually pack b vitamins in his bento box as well which I haven’t tried yet but would be interested to see what vitamins benefits most for endurance.
In his video from a few weeks ago when he was discussing how much Iron Man prep has cost him, he said he wanted to get BPN branding on everything, I don’t know if he still will
I'm training for my first marathon next month, and the training has been crazy! Sometimes I'm out running for 2 1/2hrs and your right, your just building a tank, like a train you just keep going.
I have enjoyed all the videos you post man. Your an inspiration to me and all of us out there who choose to move forward or who are now deciding to look forward to a better us and better future. Very cool and amazing! Keep on keeping on ~
Hey Nick try use body glide on your feet it will lessen the abrasions and blisters . I did this on my ultra runs and don't have any issues with blisters
A runners trick to make sure you run mid foot or on the ball of your feet is to band aid a pebble to your heel. This will make sure you don’t heel strike. You should not be getting knee pain from running unless you heel strike. Your calves should be taking on the impact. Another trick is running barefoot on concrete, your body wont let you heel strike.
Great stuff sir! Currently training for my first full marathon and my hunger has been on another level! I can’t imagine how high your hunger is training for that Ironman
Definitely check on if you can use a wetsuit rather than a swim-skin for IM Florida before you buy one...I’m doing IM Chattanooga in September. I followed the measurements and got a size M tri-suit and it was extra tight! I have a L now and still really tight so don’t be surprised if you have to go up a size. Idk who put that size chart together but the M about popped on me
Just curious, Is there a reason you’re not doing an actual prep event? I found the experience of doing an event was so helpful. Getting comfortable with the morning set up routine, the nerves and tension, the mass of swimmers, the transitions, etc.
PLease make a video on how you avoid injury! Im impressed by the fact that you seem to have made it so far as a triathlon rookie without any major injuries when I look at your brutal training :D
We have a tropical/ hurricane coming so hope it doesn’t get cancelled because the panhandle will probably at least get the wind and rain. Good Luck 🏊🏼♂️🚴🏼♂️🏃🏼♂️
You can rent a wetsuit from Austin Tri Cyclist (in downtown area) for pretty cheap if you wanted one for this the weekend. You might call ahead for brands but they can get you sized up and everything.
Nick, going forward with your brick runs, you need to do them as soon as you get off the bike, and not 5-30 minutes latter. You need to start running on legs that feel wobbly. Other then that, your killing it
Aileen Crane Ryder is his dog though. And nick gave Leroy to someone back in Pennsylvania because he didn’t have time for him. But he didn’t take Leroy to the gym either, so idk.
Yeah i agree.. a buddy of mine just did the same thing but 10x worse. He got rid of his dog because he lives in an apartment and the dog didnt listen because they never took it out or cared for it much and they said he was too big for the apartment. So right after he got rid of it (literally like 3 days after) he went and got another puppy, thats bigger than his last dog. People just dont deserve pets.
whats your advice for shin splints? I let myself go for several years and the last 3 months I have been trying to get back into running. The only problem is I can hardly run and my shins will start throbbing, my cardio has improved so much from walking on an incline and HIIT bike but can't seem to get running. Any advice?? thanks man you are helping me push getting back to where I need to be!! thanks!
"Not exactly sure where that blood came from" *proceeds to pull sock off* "NICK WERE AT DINNER!!!!" *continues vlogging pretending not to notic* *waiter is throwing up in the background...weak stomach*
Dont sweat not having your wetsuit for this weekend in Florida.. If you are swimming in teh Gulf, the water is in the 80s right now. You would HATE wearing the wetsuit.
Tom Cameron he’s doing a half iron distance on his own. It’s basically an intense training exercise not an actual race. He’s still doing the full as planned.
David Laid's timbre is slightly higher than Nick's, but you're right, it's close! David has a NJ accent slightly, and Nick has a PA accent; which are regionally distinct, yet similar to the average listener.
Huge kudos but maybe having those huge muscles won't help you much in resistance sports. You don't see Usain bolt running marathon distance and biking. But keep it up anyway.
do not go sleeveless seriously you are doing yourself a diservice espeically if you are not great at swimming. You will swim so much faster with a full sleeve wetsuit
2 different sessions after each other with no more than 10-15 mins break inbetween. mostly done with bike -> run, like in competition, but you can take any other order aswell, like 3 times bike -> run or swim -> bike. the idea behind is to get comfortable to your legs feeling like jelly after a hard bike at the beginning of the run aswell as starting your run with fatigue and higher HR
I drove by Nick running on Sunday. 100 degrees, black asphalt road 4:30pm, Texas sun beating down. You're a beast Nick, keep crushing it!
So refreshing to See somebody on youtube walking the talk.
Can remember Steve cook sayin he is going to do a Triathlon competition 😀😀 Never did it
Every time I wanna eat my breakfast nick decides to show his foot blisters
Ryan Beazley 🤣🤣
Hahaha
I watched his video from Big Bend Texas watch out he shows his toe nails 😳🤮
😂😂😂 true story

Practice these this week:
Swimming in suit.
Peeing in suit.
Taking off wetsuit.
Also: get some body glide for bike ride chaffing.
Go get it man
Vasoline everywhere bro. Even down there. Thank me later
Agreed! Forgot to lube my neck up the 1st time I swam in my wetsuit for the year and had for chaffing.
Do the swim in your TriSuit if you can't get a wet suit, it's made for swimming as well
i had the same idea, but i think he will order everything in one order, when the wetsuit is in stock again
Usually you woudl wear your trisuit under the wetsuit. If the water is cold you'll want the wettie. It also can help you swim faster as it has a bouyancy effect.

Leaving for marine basic on Tuesday 🤘🏻💛 been a long time sub nick kill it while I’m gone
Xerxyys bless u 🙏🏼
Stay safe
why not deck out your tri-suit with BPN logos?
In his video from a few weeks ago when he was discussing how much Iron Man prep has cost him, he said he wanted to get BPN branding on everything, I don’t know if he still will
No matter what happens race day, you are already a winner. Keep up the good work.
I'm training for my first marathon next month, and the training has been crazy! Sometimes I'm out running for 2 1/2hrs and your right, your just building a tank, like a train you just keep going.
Oh man I am STOKED to hear about how your half marathon goes Nick! Best of luck on your performance and recovery!
I have enjoyed all the videos you post man. Your an inspiration to me and all of us out there who choose to move forward or who are now deciding to look forward to a better us and better future. Very cool and amazing!
Keep on keeping on ~
You can't change at a half. Swim in your tri suit and get a swimskin to go over it
Good luck in your 70.3 this weekend. I’ll see you and say “Hi” in Florida.
I feel like your pretty deep into the prep that You’re training and discipline with diet is just something you do. Lifestyle change... love it!
Love watching your content Nick, keep up the good work 💪🏻
You're doing great dude!! Almost there! Following your progresses!!
Hey Nick try use body glide on your feet it will lessen the abrasions and blisters . I did this on my ultra runs and don't have any issues with blisters

I’m excited for you. I’m sure you will do awesome keep pushing it man!
Great stuff sir! Currently training for my first full marathon and my hunger has been on another level! I can’t imagine how high your hunger is training for that Ironman
you should get zwift bro... makes the indoor trainer a little more bearable
Definitely check on if you can use a wetsuit rather than a swim-skin for IM Florida before you buy one...I’m doing IM Chattanooga in September. Awesome work man. I signed up for my first half next year!
Me too. Nick and Goggins are outstanding motivation.
Should be interesting with that storm heading for Florida..... Looking good Bare!
I love this guy! Super excited to see how you do on the half iron
Just curious, Is there a reason you’re not doing an actual prep event?

Idk about anyone else but nick I appreciate your sweet edits and transitions!!!!!!!!!
Your editing skills have improved so much. Great content. Your series are always engaging, making us want the next video!
Oh man those parking jobs in 4:12 made my OCD have a heart attack hahah
Didnt even notice lol, was too busy wondering what those yellow stripes were on the roof lmao, but now you made me suffer too. Thanks.
10:00 called a cable pull over.
Might not even be able to wear a wetsuit in Florida water temps. You should check that first.
it's no competition so he could be wearing it for training purposes, if he likes
NICK!
how the hell do you not get injured??
Smart Training, and hes been doing this kinda stuff for years, im sure our definition of "injured" is his definition of "sore" lol
Nick, going forward with your brick runs, you need to do them as soon as you get off the bike, and not 5-30 minutes latter. You need to start running on legs that feel wobbly. Other then that, your killing it
Nick is going to run the iron man in a hurricane
No need for a swim cap! You will have to wear the race cap on race day.
Still pisses me off that you have new dogs but you got rid of LeRoy
Keith L what happened to Leroy?
@@panamenom i cant remember. I think when he went to Korea he had someone watch him and then they ended up just keeping him or something
Hank isn’t his dog. It’s Preston’s.
Aileen Crane Ryder is his dog though. And nick gave Leroy to someone back in Pennsylvania because he didn’t have time for him. But he didn’t take Leroy to the gym either, so idk.

Im in rotc rn training for my first raider meet on September 21st
I’ve always wanted a 32” waist.
Idk I found that so weird
GET IT NICK! 💪🏼
Its nice to see someone living a happy life :(
Damn I thought I was the only one who did the butter + jelly thing
Kyle Beats bro Kyle you be watching nick vids 2😂
I know I am kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Rocky Rene lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Boone Jalen yup, I have been watching on FlixZone for since april myself :)
@Boone Jalen Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it!!
Yooo Nick you should compete with Bradley Martyn since he said he could take on any bodybuilder in his own game..!
Yeah let's see them both in an ironman.
Whoa lookin so athletic than from before the older videos
Butter and jelly on an toasted English muffin is the best
"I'm not exactly sure where that blood came from" well I think this describes this series very well
Did you get a bike fit? Your hips do move a lot while riding, which can be an indicator that your saddle is too high.
You got this. As we say "too easy". Best of luck during the Iron Man
whats your advice for shin splints? I let myself go for several years and the last 3 months I have been trying to get back into running. JDeGolf Ice after run, stretch, massage. Keep hammering. Had them for the first few weeks of training for an ultra marathon.
@@matttwitchell6585 thanks so much! I'll keep pushing!
Really looking forward to that performance-focused diet video
"Not exactly sure where that blood came from"
*proceeds to pull sock off*
"NICK WERE AT DINNER!!!!"
*continues vlogging pretending not to notic*
*waiter is throwing up in the background...weak stomach*
The way hes training I thought for sure he was doing a full ironman. I'm doing a full one next year and training half the rate he is. I'm so fuckd
Jacob Hirsch He’s doing a full in November. Mentions it around the 18 minute mark.
butter + jelly is a must
I’m a simple man, I see Nick Bare video I watch
Simple man by shinedown. Better than lynyrd skynyrd's version imo.
You're the f*cking man, Nick!
Good luck on Saturday
There is a hurricane coming to Florida this weekend
Nick, you might want to get a "trainer" tire so you don't wear out your race tires.
Someone is watching your channel on my account and I'm sick of seeing Nick Bare on my watch history. It has to stop immediately
Dont sweat not having your wetsuit for this weekend in Florida.. If you are swimming in teh Gulf, the water is in the 80s right now. You would HATE wearing the wetsuit.
You might want a Large Tall instead of a large.. I am 6 foot tall and the large was just too short for my body, so I had to reorder a large tall
I'd love to move out there and have you train me for a month. I'm sure my results would be amazing
so is it a taper week or peak week? should be a tapper but you said both.
Which Half Ironman are you doing? I didn’t see any going on Labor Day weekend in the US. Traverse City was last weekend.
Crazy your size despite all that cardio
A Iron Man Diet would be epic! #keepgoingman
Nick got a hat for every workout. 🏋️♀️
Are you going to make a video during your iron man competition?
I thought you were Toby Alderwiereld w/ muscles!
what half iron are you doing? Im in Lake Placid in 10 days......also didnt know you were doing a half. Gotta try the full next time!
Tom Cameron he’s still doing the full in November I think
Someone obviously didn’t watch the video 😒
@@earthlingathlete1943 youre right! I was at work and saw the title. commented before watching. So what race is he doing?
Tom Cameron he’s doing a half iron distance on his own. It’s basically an intense training exercise not an actual race. He’s still doing the full as planned.
How do you overall, from lifting to endurance work? Has it helped you mental, physical health or hurt?
pure inspiration
I feel like you are avoiding your swims :P
Kaushik Donthi it’s the hardest part
I call those back exercises straight bar pull downs
Lake Placid or Santa Cruz 70.3 Nick?? I'll be at SC so be rad to be on the course with you!
Roka make great sunglasses too
Nick, soak blisters in vinegar, water and Epsom salt.
Rip anyone that hate feet
Good luck!
Proud of the pronunciation of Hoka One One 💪
Hey Nick, How do you go about working out after coming back from being sick?
Workout while sick
Slowly please, it can take days to get back to where you were, even for an elite conditioned athlete.
Ease into it. Your body probably doesn't have as much energy since its been focused on fighting your sickness so go slowly back
The pull downs are called straight arm pull downs 👍🏼
Hey Nick. Would having you're own brand running shoe be possible?
crazy to see nick so much skinnier
Muffins and jam is the way to go
If you close your eyes he sounds like David Laid
David Laid's timbre is slightly higher than Nick's, but you're right, it's close! David has a NJ accent slightly, and Nick has a PA accent; which are regionally distinct, yet similar to the average listener.
your Vlogs are very inspirational
after ironman, maybe pursue powerlifting meet!
I know you said you strength training 3-4x a week, how do you split everything?
Huge kudos but maybe having those huge muscles won't help you much in resistance sports. You don't see Usain bolt running marathon distance and biking. But keep it up anyway.
do not go sleeveless seriously you are doing yourself a diservice espeically if you are not great at swimming. You will swim so much faster with a full sleeve wetsuit
Do you have time goal?? Good luck!
I may be stupid for not knowing this, but what does the “brick” in brick run mean?
2 different sessions after each other with no more than 10-15 mins break inbetween. mostly done with bike -> run, like in competition, but you can take any other order aswell, like 3 times bike -> run or swim -> bike. the idea behind is to get comfortable to your legs feeling like jelly after a hard bike at the beginning of the run aswell as starting your run with fatigue and higher HR
Why did you have shredded feet like that after a marathon?!
I was wondering the same! I have done 3 full marathons and my feet have never looked like that.
You are a machine🔥
How will the arm blaster help me in my IM training?
When did it turn to a half marathon? Thought he was doing a full marathon?
