This fan film was dope. I actually hung out with Vince (The guy that played Jason in Never Hike Alone) and Brandon Bugsey from the Friday The 13th video game in Vegas about a month ago at this private FT13th event in this strip club. They were cool as hell man. Met Kane Hodder, Shelly from part 3, Tom Savini, Harry Manfredini & the creators of the FT13 game. Epic ass night! Lol
I really enjoyed this fan film as well. I’ve found some really good fan films on RUclips (as well as some real stinkers) and this one was definitely one of the better ones, if not straight up the best one so far. I really appreciate what the film makers were trying to do with this fan film. By only having one character going up against Jason, they were able to focus on building tension and suspense rather than trying to just add to Jason’s body count. This is something that the professional film makers who worked on the actual series had neglected since at least Part 4. In Parts 1 & 2 Jason and his mom killed only 9 people each. In Part 3 Jason upped the number to 12. And then in Part 4 the number went up to 13 or 14. After that the numbers got ridiculously high (20 in Part 5, 18 in Part 6, etc). Plus all of the fake out jump scares that they put in between the kills. The audience became so desensitized to them that they stopped enjoying them. Never Hike Alone was roughly an hour long, nearly half of which was a game of cat & mouse between Kyle and Jason, and virtually no kills until the very end of the movie. THAT is how you build suspense. THAT is how you develop tension. And THAT is how you make a great horror movie. So bravo to these guys for making an awesome fan film. If they ever decide to go pro and start making original content that they can profit from, I foresee them becoming great successes.
I almost forgot I watched this on RUclips this week. I really I just appreciate the fact that this was done more than anything. Say what you want about the F13 franchise but fanbase is dedicated. I’m sure it didn’t take much (I’m not tech savvy) but it looked crisp, the overhead/landscape shots were great and I personally love the more Frankensteiny movement of Jason they went for, it was chilling watching him lifelessly pummel down the cabin stairs. Nothing amazing but supremely appreciated. Would like to see more projects like these happen.
This review played after I saw the movie. First off, I really enjoyed the movie. Then I see your review and everything you say is what I was already thinking. This is a fan film. It isnt better than the other entries but I do think it should be included in the series in the big scope of things. Tommy Jarvis brought it all together. I also agree with Jason X!
I have my issues with Never Hike Alone but I would easily rank it above part 5, 8, 9, X, FvJ and the remake, just for enjoyability, seriousness and cinematography alone. Even as big a fan as I am, when I upgraded my collection of films from VHS to DVD, I only kept 1-4 and 6.
Same. Then I picked up the BluRay to watch on my TV instead of my phone. Much better! Loaned it to two people who also loved it. Looking forward to their upcoming projects.
Their were a few things that really bugged me about this though it was still damn good. Like its got the same cannon from part 6... But its back to being called Camp Crystal Lake? Though the guy that runs the YT channel told me that though its in the same universe that Forrest Green is in a different section of the lake and no one went back to Crystal Lake after the first one. It also bugged me that Kyle got away from Jason though hurt... Instead of just using his bandana to tie off the wound and get the hell out of there.. He goes BACK to the camp where he knows Jason. Again he told me it was because he was a hiker he knew his injury was to bad to get away so he had to go back for the first aid... I also hated the sound that jason made as he walked around. Edit: Oh his name was Cal? I thought it was Kyle hahahaha. Edited out a little spoiler :3.
This fan film had good interaction with jason, i like the fact that he was more aggressive with charging and choke slammin, but that also made some points awkward. . . And then second the two ambulance people in the back were fucking bad actors, just cringed
I just watched reactions for the trailer of the fan made Freddy remake and then saw this vid. Their reaction: it was over the top. Too much hype and praise for fan made works
Fan films like fan fiction are good and terrible like anything amateur is, at best they are homages. At worst they are loosely identified “fans” play acting with I phones
The way the movie went, it seemed to me they treated the series as though only the first movie happened, hence why our hiker friend could take even a couple hits from jason and still get up Was kind of neat seeing someone who was probably as skillful as jason, his only downfall not being able to shrug off those solid thwacks that jason could
Great review , I didn’t like the music all the way through , kinda the cliche hackey ( no pun intended ) horror quest but they did a good job , also why do Jason’s footsteps sound like he’s in a mech?! HAHAHA I liked it though , much respect to the filmmakers
I'm a huge Friday the 13th fan i grew up on these movies I enjoy 1-8 and i love 1-4 , so we know which ones are the classic ones 1-4 that's.it the rest are just kind a fun but not great, this fan film is good i enjoyed it but no it's not better then any Friday the.13th movie come.on well actually its better then Jason goes to H ell, but Jason was pretty good not bad
The friday movies are slashers, you cant have a slasher with 1 main charecter. Thats why i did not enjoy the movie too much, it was good, just not what im used to i guess. I like to see jason kill people, the only 2 kills that happened in the movie happened off camera only to show the bodys afterword.

That sounds wonderful! So cool man

@Musa Drew I use flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Torin Carl Yup, been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
@Torin Carl Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it !

Whaaat? There were young adult novels?! That is totally up my alley.
Yup. Halloween and Nightmare have them too.
Nice fair review. I was actually a little unnerved by this movie. The suspense was great.
Damn your collection is impressive!!!!!
I just watched Never Hike Alone. I really liked this movie. I thought this was a pretty good fan film
You liked Freddy vs Jason but not the remake? Well, I respect your opinion, even if I don't understand it
Brainhorn haha. I reviewed all 12 on the Channel
I hate both

Hell yeah man! People over praise fan films but that’s fine.
eat pink

Even as big a fan as I am, when I upgraded my collection of films from VHS to DVD, I only kept 1-4 and 6.
I've seen Never Hike Alone twice. I liked it even better the second time I saw it.
I haven’t seen it since. That’s awesome that it got better with a second viewing
Same. Then I picked up the BluRay to watch on my TV instead of my phone. Much better! Loaned it to two people who also loved it. Looking forward to their upcoming projects.
Really enjoyed your review. You can tell how much you care about the franchise. I enjoyed the flick.
Awesome video bud, subbed!
I just ran into the fan film and never heard anything of it, so points did shock me and really surprised my expectations

Kyle. The lead character’s name is KYLE. Not “Kowl”. His sign of is “Kyle Out”.
This fan film had good interaction with jason, i like the fact that he was more aggressive with charging and choke slammin, but that also made some points awkward. . . And then second the two ambulance people in the back were fucking bad actors, just cringed
Your Jason tattoo is awesome. Do you have any more horror themed tattoos and are you planning on getting more?
I have Jason, Michael, chucky, leatherface, and obviously Jason. Plus I have the Halloween poster pumpkin
Very cool. Horror themed tattoos are my favourite.
Hardcore F13th fan, Jason X was awesome.
No. No, it wasn’t. If I were Kane Hodder, I would have run away from that production screaming. Fucking Afro Jason.
the markings on the mask arent cracks the dried blood streaks
Sean Vany oh cool. I’ll look again
yea imake masks and thats a key element i have to focus on making a good quality replica prop mask
of you look close enough the color is brown red tinge blackish maroon look lol
Great movie...I'm actually gonna watch it again with my fiance...she hasn't seen it yet
I just watched reactions for the trailer of the fan made Freddy remake and then saw this vid. Their reaction: it was over the top. Too much hype and praise for fan made works
People tend to exaggerate a little with fan films haha
Fan films like fan fiction are good and terrible like anything amateur is, at best they are homages. At worst they are loosely identified “fans” play acting with I phones

Well, technically here only Part 6-7 happened due to Tommy.
Do you think we'll get a sequel? Cause they kinda left it off the hook.
UnstableBastard 9495 it’s definitely possible with how popular it is
never hike in the snow.... a prequel
Jason Rising is the best fan film, but Never Hike Alone is second best.
Great review , I didn’t like the music all the way through , kinda the cliche hackey ( no pun intended ) horror quest but they did a good job , also why do Jason’s footsteps sound like he’s in a mech?! HAHAHA I liked it though , much respect to the filmmakers
Kane hodder isn't hulking
The books!
3 is my favorite...
Alex Zith I’m reviewing that tonight
TOMMY JARVIS!!!!!
Ahhh shiz we got a highlight! Appreciate it, another big F13 fan!

That fan film was awesome. This guys way off. Coming from the guy who likes Jason X. Okay. Cmon bro

FYI the guy that played Axl was the Rabbi on Seinfeld
Uncle Pill never really watched that show
Can you stop being salty about the low body count
It's better than 5,7,8 and 9.... So that's almost half
Kevin Strom nah it's good but not that good
