Nah. Just look at the submarines they made to Indonesian navy. And they don't take the responsibility for the warranty.
Submarine is a serious weapon system. You shouldn't do the procurement as the same way you procure the surface vessel. Better ask submarines from German, France, or Italy.

  • @user-rd4uh6rh7j
    @user-rd4uh6rh7j Месяц назад +5

Korea's proposal to the Philippines regarding submarine acquisition is particularly inappropriate. There's a sound reason why many export submarine models are based on relatively old, single-deck designs: all submarines, including warships, invariably experience malfunctions or degraded functionality. The Type 212 submarine, for instance, showed an extremely low operational rate for a considerable period due to various issues, despite being manufactured and used by Germany, which produces almost all components domestically.
The real difference lies in how these issues are reported and exploited as political leverage. I've witnessed Japan's submarines, which the Japanese tout as world-class, arrive in Hawaii with functional failures, forcing them to remain docked throughout the entire training period. Interestingly, this wasn't publicized in Japan. I've also seen Singapore's Formidable-class ships, considered Southeast Asia's finest, participate in exercises with malfunctioning main radars.
These incidents illustrate a crucial point: while similar problems occur across navies, their perception is largely shaped by media coverage and political narratives. Japan's submarine issues went unnoticed due to lack of reporting, not absence of problems. Even Singapore, with its robust defense budget, isn't immune to such challenges.
The message here is clear: operating a navy, especially submarines, inevitably comes with a myriad of complex issues. It requires not just financial resources, but also extensive technical expertise and operational experience. Frankly, the Philippines lacks this capacity.
Therefore, if the Philippines is to consider submarines, the best option is not to introduce them at all. If they must, the next best option is to acquire the most proven and simple submarines possible. Hanwha's submarine is a new design with no proven model, not even used by the Korean Navy. It's too complex and expensive. I guarantee 100% that problems will arise, and this will be endlessly exploited and blown out of proportion by those just waiting for such negative issues.

    Indian Navy should consider KSS-III submarine for P75I project, with, Li-ion Batteries + FC-AIP + K-VLS [KSS-III-IN]
6 days on Li-ion Batteries underwater & 7 hrs to charge Li-ion Batteries means for those 7 hrs sub use FC-AIP to power the sub while simultaneously charging Li-ion Batteries, so if the AIP has enough H2 & LOX to do this say minimum 5 times, that translates to 30 days submerged underwater endurance at 5 to 6 Knots, what else does the IN need😮🙌👏🤘
Why are they even looking else where 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

That 4300 frigate should have two mk38 mod 4 30mm guns amidship above the torpedo launchers. I wonder why that section isn't totally enclosed and have a top deck including above the boat bays, so customers can have space for more effectors. That 5 inch gun is useless against drones and swarms.

Apples to oranges comparison. Missiles cannot even detect and destroy subs lurking beneath the waters. Most missiles nowadays are more on Air to Air, Air to Ground and Air to Surface.
Meanwhile in order to destroy subs, you need sonars, Anti-Submarine helicopters or aircrafts, seamines, depth charges and torpedos.
Meanwhile Submarines nowadays are now capable on attacking surface, ground, and aerial threats due to the existence of VLS technology and the existence of technology for missiles being able to be fired via torpedo tubes.
Having submarines is a great deterrence against a Navy having much more surface hulls than the Philippine Navy. Ever wonder why the Royal Australian Navy insisted on the AUKUS deal with US and UK?
Regardless, don't get me wrong. I'm not against the idea of buying more USVs and Brahmos. In fact, i support the idea of buying them its just... that it's an apples to oranges comparison, yes kamikaze USVs and more Brahmos are good but if you take into consideration the specs of submarines offered by Hanwha, Navantia, Naval Group and Fincarteri. You'll know it packs more punch than just torpedoes.

make the world laugh, they make and build submarines but they can't fix them if there is a system error and damage. funny thing that korea gives to consumers. but what's funnier is that there are still those who want to buy their products. is it because of bribes from officials or lures that will harm buyers in the future. from price, quality and time losses. my statement now, if the philippines buy this submarine, one day they will regret it after using it.take it and you can take my word for it now, how many times and years to come. you will feel the same loss. both loss of time, quality, poor defense and money. and we did submarine repair in Korea at that time. and some time later our submarine sank after their claim was able to do overhull service.

Pinoys can do research what kind ORE package they tryna offer to Indonesian Navy then you'll be much more aware what's the issues is. By now all cooperation between ID and SK submarine is pretty much gone, severed by poor response to addressing the issue.
The 3rd submarine from the first contract was ready and scheduled to launch in 2018 (see my short) after they found problems, later it happens in 2021. 3 Years wait worth of nothing.
I remember some officials still trying to save Korean face, by buying time for them and hope them to resolve it. Gaslighting the issue with too shallow depth and mud issue surrounding the launching facility, yet three years after they did it without even single dredger ship doing their job.
Indonesian leadership were furious, got additional funding after Nanggala accident and severed the deal. Guess who is the one who lost of trust here? Philippine Navy better be prepared and manage their expectations.

If we really take Ukraine into this discussion. The Ukrainians are pushing for more conventional weapons to strike back at Russia, i really don't think there's any problem acquiring them if AFU commissioned their 1st MILGEM Class Corvette from Istanbul, Turkey, Stress for more Air Defense, Push for more F-16s, and push for more conventional weapons to strike deeper into Russia.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the idea of getting cheaper and economical weapons. But your average Kamikaze drones cannot intercept enemy missiles like MRFs or Air defense do, your average Kamikaze USVs cannot even function as both a offensive and defensive asset like the MMCFs, as it's possesses VLS and C-Star AShMs, and these drones are subjected into electronic jamming by enemies.
Id say we should push for both.

Don't waste money. Not a single country in Southeast Asia can properly operate submarines. When the US offers support, focus on building as many coast guard vessels as possible. The Philippine military is powerless against China, but the Philippine Coast Guard is useful. And don't have illusions about submarines. They're not the ultimate decisive weapon you imagine them to be. Don't envy Indonesia, Malaysia, or Thailand just because they have submarines. Their navies are just as amateurish as yours. Now due to this, Indonesian cannot even overhaul submarines they've got from Hanwha. This happens when you tried to short corner. @@Juanleonardo-w5q mate, the arms world doesn't work that simple. Indonesia simply doesn't have much cash in hand, everything they deal with involves government's soft loans. Indonesia already operates 2 Type 209 from S.Korea, they'll need that operating for next 30 years and Indonesia still need Hanwha to perform full overhauling maintenance in 7 years time, they can do that with German contractor who knows Type 209 architecture but all the onboard systems are integrated by Hanwha and using some Hanhwa's own sensors and system as well. Indonesia shutoff Hanwha from 3 more Type 209 nagapasa model (which is specifically built for Indonesia's requested specs). That two Napagasa subs have no issues. So I don't know where you pulling that fake story from? There's no report of faults from that Napagasa sub as it's proven 209 design. It's small sub without AIP, enchanced 209 napagasa sub is good, otherwise it won't be in operation. There's very aged 209 class sub that Indonesia is operating which had full overhauling with DSME done, 1 unfortunately sank during the drill mission and other 1 is still operating but due to its age its not safe enough to go full mission. It serves only as training sub for now. Originally, Indonesia wanted replace all two ageging subs and buy 5 or 6 new subs, and this was when DSME contract was signed. Indonesia never proceed after the accident. Stop comparing the Napagasa subs that were produced in DSME dockyard - they're good. Just that other aged sub needs to retire. Overhauling should have done when sub reached 7 years of operation. Usually sub's within 30 years of lifespan, it must go through 3 overhauling maintenance - cut into pieces and clean and repaire, and replace the battery every 7th year and even replace equipment & sensors & systems. Stop complaining with over 50 years old sub. Indonesia still need Hanwha. Type 209 is still good sub for coaster defense. Good luck with Sporpene sub, they also has many issues too. Every submarines has issues - no submarines are perfect that is why making & operating submarine is very hard and expensive. Look at China and Japan, they have massive issues with their subs too. You think French and Turkish are perfect? they also went through hardships operating their subs.
