That green '69 GTO was used as a ramp car in at least a half dozen episodes, one of the stunt coordinators said in an interview that in the end, it basically didn't have a back end left.
1981 paid $300 for a great '73 Plymouth Fury III 2dr Sport Coupe 360 4bbl, 1983 got a '78 Ttop Z28 from a bank repo for the payoff of $1200, 1985 got a Bandit Trans Am for $1500! In between I picked up a '70 Buick Skylark 350 4bbl for $500, '76 Chevy Cheyenne truck for $800, '67 Plymouth Valiant for $600
I bought a clean, matching numbers 73 340 automatic Duster in 1988 for $850. It had the famous "Abody broken K-frame. Fixed that and fan the hell out of it
At 3:48, in the Dart Driver's POV shot of the approach to the conveniently-placed ramp and the truck with the junk cars on it, the Ford Sedan on top of the pile has it's post-crash damage (smashed-in right side and crushed-in roof). They must have had to get that shot after shooting the crash, so put it back on the pile and backed the truck out into the road again.
That's 73 Ford Custom 500 was damaged in another chips episode it was the episode where the family from the Ozark Mountains were committing Insurance scams in Los Angeles. And it was used in one of the scenes where they were being chased by California Highway Patrol
What was the reason for a semi with a flatbed trailer hooked to it, loaded with junk cars, to be parked across a public street, and a ramp set up on one side of it????
Not sure why the Dodge Dart was escaping. All the cops wanted to do is give the driver an appearance ticket for operarting the ugliest two-tone paint job motor vehicle in the State of California.
had 360s in a '72 Plymouth Fury II, '73 Plymouth Fury III, '83 Dodge Ram & '96 Dodge Ram! Great motors, decent enough power, durable & with a few mods can be a screamer, I loved them
I'm sure those were 440 cars being CHP spec cars, especially how anemic the 440 was by then. '78 was the last year of the B body intermediate AND the 440. '79 onward to '81or so the E58 'HD' 360 was the top engine. It was a decent engine.

That black Javlen was nice. Sad to see it destroyed.
Took its time though, it was stopped, destroyed and then intact again.
The way that Dodge dart hit the ground after it did the jump. I don’t think those people would be talking.
that gremlin x tho 😮💨
the gto ramp car always gives me a laugh.. bizarre seeing a dream car used as stunt equipment lmao
Forget the Dart. They destroyed a GTO and Javelin.
Not to mention that '71 Pontiac!
And there was a 76 camaro lt type in the backround
Javelin had an airbag
That Pontiac had the optional trunk mounted ramps attached to deal with people who drive too close!
@DarrenMartin-x9v i use to look for gtos after i saw how fast they could burn rubber when i was a kid in the late 70s.
Those Dodge Darts were underrated for looks and power.
I kinda liked that Dart in two-tone.
The same Javelin was in two shots.
Three
Have one in my back yard, big lenning tower of power in it. Still runs.
I like this scene on Chip’s, look y’all, a bird, a plane, no a flying Dodge in the sky 😂😂😂😂
Just $500 used cars then. I bought a 73 340, 3 speed stick, space duster for $300.
I remember those days.250 for my javelin.300 camaros.....lol.etc...

And $100 if it was a rustbucket. I really miss those days....

Hmmm...🤔🤔🤔 bank job that requires a traffic jam to tie up the cops is this inspiration from the Italian job movie 😁.

Nice to see the RTD buses in their old paint schemes
GMC RTS-II, still looks futuristic especially compared to the '70s cars.
Looks like that Dart handled better than those motorbikes.
Best editing on YT 😆
Wonder if the Dart was supposed to land on its roof?
At 3:00 mark that dart got some air time 😮.

That was the first gto i seen in chips what a shame it had hideaway headlights slotted mags in the back.the good old days...
Geez, You'd figure they'd pick something with a little more pep and handling than an Al Bundy Dart for a getaway car.
Unless it had a 440 ...
Dodge dart Police package with a 360. Brown/ Beige car with blue interior. So this might have been a police car at one point that was repainted
@@chryslerelectronicleanburn1676 No way. Not a chance.
what was that jumpscare at the end

2:37 Was the wheelie in the script?
Haha, probably not - stuntman showing off! Actually, it's probably quite hard to wheelie a Harley, I'd have thought...
Also John's rear wheel slip as he comes to a stop. He released the brake to regain control.
@@FMFGUF Those are Kawa KZP 900 or 1000. Not hard to lift the front, compared to a hog.
0:51 nice to see green GTO's of the era helpfully towed ramps behind them on the offchance two pursuing vehicles wanted to do a flip
If that Dart had the slant 6 I bet it still started right up after impact.

Loved those Monaco square-headlight cop cars! Problem is, they had 360s, and I HATE 360s!

Darts didn't have the handling that most other Mopars of the 60s and 70s had
2:59
And they missed the landing!
How Stupid!!!!! FAKE!!!!!! POOR episode!!!!!! These actors can't act!!!! Terrible television!!!! NO BRAINS!!!!!!
NO Wonder Another boring CHiPS episode!!!!! Bad NBC!!!!!!
Chips. Stupid serie
