- Welcome back to another video, in this episode, we have left the lures at home and have decided to fish for smoothhounds with live hardback crabs. In May the smooth hounds come close to shore to feed on all the crabs and shellfish, as the name suggests 'hounds' hunt in packs! So when you find them, you normally are into them one after another, until you run out of bait!
In the UK smooth hounds can grow upwards of 20lb, so make sure when you are fishing for these you are using decent equipment.

Tight lines
My favourite type of fishing is lure fishing for bass off the inflatable boats (sibs), they are perfect. They are super quick to set up, they are fast, and can go in such shallow water, it's amazing! Inflatable boat fishing is becoming more and more popular as people realise you do not need an expensive boat to reach the marks out at sea. You can buy a setup for around £2000-£3500 and this will do you fine.
I love going beach fishing, shore fishing but nothing beats boat fishing on these inflatable boats. You can find the fish a lot easier, they are fast and most importantly much more fun!

Thanks for watching, as promised the 3 key points:
- Use SMALL live hard backs, anything too big is not an easy meal and they will often leave it, whereas every small crab was being taken almost instantly
- Anchor up over a patchy ground where crabs would live, do not drift!
- Fish for them close to shore in calm weather
