    Very helpful and I will make some changes as a result of your advice. I would add - tell some one whee you are going, when you expect to be back and what to do if you over run by an agreed time.

    I always carry a sea anchor and one gallon of wave oil as required by SOLAS 1974. Strongly recommended.

      Good advice. I've heard of that but not seen it in use before. Will check it out. Thanks

    All good but number 1 has to be a PLB (PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON) IF IT ALL GOES WRONG!

      Yes I agree a PLB is very important! I actually need to look into these and see what options are available. Thank you.

    What is the best app for swell, tide times etc. I used to use Magic seaweed until it merged with Surfline which i cant get on with.

      Hi, yeah magic seaweed was great, shame it changed. For apple I'd recommend Boatie, and for android, I'd recommend Windfinder or SwellMap Surf.

    I hear it everywhere that you need chain on your anchor but it's never explained why. Also, what is a good length of rope to attach to it?

    • @inflatableangling
      @inflatableangling  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, yes the chain will keep the anchor parallel to the seabed and will ensure it grips properly. For the length of rope the general rule is to let out x3 the depth you are in. It does depend on the strength of the tide as well. The stronger the tidal pull the more you will need to let out. Best to have plenty spare.

      @inflatableangling  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, it depends which country you are in, but yes in the UK you do need one. VHF portable license - Find out here www.ofcom.org.uk/manage-your-licence/radiocommunication-licences/ships-radio

      You can take one in case of an emergency. I have one, and I don't have a license. You just aren't allowed to speak into it unless your life is in danger.
