I liked your video on the teardown of the WII. I just want to let you know that you missed an item to check before putting the WII back together. I found the vent filter on my desk after I put the console back together. Now to put the filter back in place I will have to disassemble the console again. I think letting the prospective person know that they should make sure the filter is in place before putting the console back together. I for one was not even aware there was a filter in that location because the video didn't mention it. Additionally, I searched the web and only found one reference to the filter and that was a video for an case swap for a 3 party case that did mention moving the filter to the new case.😊
Followed along in real time with my Wii, which is identical to this one. Had to use a plain old utility knife, but otherwise it came apart easily following these steps. This is the one to watch if you're servicing your Wii.
@fishellb, can you please explain how you do the triwing screws with a utility knife? I struggle to remove them as I don't have a tri-wing screwdriver.
I just wanted to mention that you CAN find the security bits at a hardware store. Lowe's sells a ratcheting screwdriver (Kobalt brand) that has size 2 (the kind the Wii uses) and 3 triwing bits.
Damn it, I tried the only screwdriver I have handy and it was too big, guess I'm just gonna have to deal with the clicking sound for now until I can get a smaller one
What type of thermal pads should I use on all other areas already using thermal pads? Conductive or nonconductive for all consoles? Wii, ps2 slim, ps3 slim, ps3 fat, ps4 pro.
Ok, i have a two questions about the pads: I have to replace the processor and GPU pads. I was thinking about using a PRO COOLER MASTER Thermal pad, but i read in the comments that console thermal pads should always be non conductive. Would these work or not? And when i tried to remove the wifi module, that black square pad ripped. Is it needed or can i leave it without it? What kind of pad is that (i need the name so i can find online, buy and replace)?
Ok but can you do the 2nd half of this, which is putting it all back together again? And then testing it and running it? I have a dirty thrift store wii i wanna clean and retrobrite, and i want to actually be able put it all back in order without missing anything again.
My son's Wii is showing vertical WHITE LINES up and down the TV --- do I replace a Graphics Card or the WHOLE motherboard? I can hear - I can see the actual Wii Screen -- but the entire TV screen has a ton of white lines throughout from left to right ...
Your GPU is on its way out. I recommend replacing the entire mainboard since replacing the GPU is not an economical option. Link for mainboard: fasttechstore.com/nintendo-wii-parts/p/nintendo-wii-motherboard
hi is it possible for the Wii to boot and reach its homebrew channel without its game drive? Actually, I want to remove its drive to reduce its weight (light and portable).. kindly update me thank you.
Yes I believe it will but just to be safe leave the logic board of the disc drive connected (data ribbon cable and power cable) and remove the rest of the drive.
Sir, I have a Wii, I accidentally stepped on it and I pressed a little hard. Did something happen. Is the outer casing made of a hard material that does not bend?
@@fasttechvideo great, mine snapped when i was doing a disassembly to check for capacitors that might have leaked (console is almost 20 years old so it's only logical)
LMAO good and funny video but the parts you are selling cost almost the same amount as a used Wii. Might as well buy a different one at this point. Even if you are repairing them to make money its impossible with what you are charging.
I would disagree, our parts are much cheaper than buying a used Wii. I am also cutting prices as much as possible by buying in bulk. We did a recent price reduction recently.
