- Over the Memorial Day 2023 weekend, Roy Wulf participated at the Manassas Battlefield in National Park Services event called "Raising the Regiment." It was an interactive living history program where visitors learned about the process of recruiting and mustering in a new regiment in the U.S. army during the Civil War.
Congratulations and beautiful video, you are a virtuous and brilliant person, thank you for not letting our history die, God bless America.
Yes, God bless America! Thank you so much for your kind comments! When I get the opportunity, I will be uploading more videos.
I just now watched all of your RUclips videos and I must say that I am incredibly impressed by this young man. Kudos to him and to his parents for doing a fine job raising such a well-rounded and talented young man.
Thank you very much for your kind words, which are much appreciated. So glad you have enjoyed the videos!
Looked like a great event.
It was a particularly excellent day. Other than being a bit windy, the weather was perfect. Memorial Day weekend on the battlefield this year was also fine, but more low key for some reason. There was just a lot less happening this year.
Very nice video. I also like that Roy blessed himself after they said a prayer. His parents did a good job of raising him. God Bless.
So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your kind comments! God bless you too. We will post more in the future.
Wonderful but solemn remembrance. God bless all who lost their lives for our freedoms . Roy, you’re an excellent musician!
It's an honor to participate in living history to help the public, especially kids, learn about the sacrifices made by previous generations to allow us to live in freedom. Thank you for watching!
Great job young man! Keep it up and God Bless the Union
So glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, God, continue to bless the Union!
This is too cool for words! Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it! I hope to post more videos in the future when I can find the time to do so.
So how many instruments does he play?@@mr.roywulf
@@denniscahill9683 Well, it depends how you count them. For example, a bugle is a bit different from a cornet, but they are very similar. A bugle is like a cornet without valves, but they are used for different purposes. Perhaps ten or eleven!
I don't really think a bugle and cornet...the lack of valves makes the bugle a limited and difficult instrument -- and he comports himself quite well with it!@@mr.roywulf
@@denniscahill9683 Thank you again. When used in reenacting, the sound of the bugle really brings back history.
Just found your channel pard *LIKED* and *SUBSCRIBED* .. and thanks for playing the bugle calls ..... I've got to brush up on these for the upcoming marching season.
I just subscribed to your channel also! It looks as if you have a lot of great videos that I will enjoy watching. Yes, get your embouchure ready for the season! :)
Very nice guy
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I know somebody else would be interested in this Ralph Nader!
Thank you for taking time to post a comment. However, I confess that I don't comprehend the connection to Mr. Nader. Sorry to be missing your point. :)
@@mr.roywulf he's a civil war buff
@@mistervacation23 I see! I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the clarification. :)
Wonderful Video. God bless all people that died in this terrible war
So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, God bless all the Americans, North and South, that were lost.
Nice job with all the music! All the bugle tunes are very interesting as well! Kind Thanks! I subscribed! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
So glad you enjoyed this! I'll be posting other videos pretty soon! :)
That kid is very talented and intelligent.
Thank you so much! He's very enthusiastic for music and history!
I WAS THEREEEE DUDEEEEE
Excellent! It was a great reenactment!
He looks like the real deal in that uniform!
Thanks so much! Roy is aiming for authenticity! He is attempting to recreate the uniform worn by his own great great grandfather, who was in the 177th OVI in the Civil War.
Thanks for sharing
You're most welcome!
What is even more truthful and sad at the same time, it’s the fact that young men like this fine reenactment actor would have been sent to an almost certain death,..
You make a very important point, and that's certainly not lost on us. On our channel, we have made a video where we visit the grave of Roy's great great grandfather who was about Roy's same age when he went to war. Lots of young men died or were terribly wounded in the Civil War, and this is obviously true in all wars. War is hell! :(
Great talent!
Thank you so much. We're glad you enjoyed this video!
What an incredibly talented young man! I’ll try to create a link with your pics in the next day or two. Hope to see you both in the future!
Thank you so much! We will look forward to seeing your pictures and, as you see, seeing each other again in the future!
Excellent
Wow what talent that your trooper has is there not any instruments he cannot play, bugle, flute, and fiddle i havent seen the whole video yet but was so impressed had to put it in words before my old mind forgets what i wanted to say
We typically say that he cannot play the alpine horn ... yet! :) Glad you enjoyed the video! We will post other videos soon.
Awesome can't wait to watch it
Good to see your interested in history , so many today wouldn't be able to tell you anything significant happened in Gettysburg unless it was a new burger joint opening.
Thanks so much. Of course, I do like that there is a burger joint in Gettysburg called "The Gettysburger Company." I only wish that someone would open an Italian restaurant called "Spagettysburg!"
@@mr.roywulf Clever names! A good old school red sauce Italian restaurant is always good. The bugler seems very well spoken and knowledgeable as well.
Pup tents haven't changed in 162 years, back in 1861-65 ' they where called dog tents we today are called pup tents and only difference is material and collar but it's still the same. I remember when I joined the Army back in 79' got issued one half and another guy got half in South Carolina in the winter of 1979 it would of been farely warm except my tent mate was 6'9" tall and he had his feet poking out so all the cold air just flowed through making getting warm very hard
Thanks for your post! Yes, the system of having two soldiers each carry half of a tent apparently worked pretty well because the Army stuck with it!
Hi Douglas, are you again in Cedar Creek this year?
Jens the GER
Ja, das hoffen wir! Werden Sie da sein? :)
Where did you get the 1840 musician sword?
Hi there. We got that sword from Fall Creek Sutler in Indiana. Their website is fcsutler.com. Scroll down to the link for swords and sabers. Good luck!
OK...I bite - -- What instrument do you NOT play??
The alpine horn ... at least ... not yet. :)
I love your talent🤔🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 and how are you doing? I wish I could be a soldier.
Thank you so much for your kind comments! I'm doing very well and enjoying the summer. I hope you are also fine. Actually, women can also put on a wool uniform coat and go out and portray male soldiers. Quite a few do that. Reenacting is acting, after all. In a long row of soldiers at a reenactment, everyone looks much the same. There are also a few interesting roles for women, such as portraying a vivandière.
Both the battles of Manassas (first and second)…or “bull run” battles…had been a Confederate victory… How come we didn't see a single gray soldier…or a brief view of the rebel camp ??
So, there were quite a few Confederate reenactors at the First Manassas event in July (which we may turn into a video), but this was a Memorial Day event, and there were no Confederates near us. We encountered a small group after the presentation at the New York monument. You can hear them firing a volley across the street when we were climbing the hill, but they were far away at that point. The Manassas Battlefield has Confederate reenactors at events. Obviously, without soldiers wearing gray, Civil War battle reenactments would not be possible.
Where’s the Confederates? They ran the Yankees off twice
It is a little known fact that the Confederacy developed an invisibility shield toward the end of the war. It nearly turned the tide! :)
