Just watched again , I’ve been away but recently re-subscribed. I’m working towards a setup similar to yours so am enjoying catching up on all your vids, would love a review of the other guys ski’s in the group, what they like or don’t like etc. keep it up, especially all the advice.
Thanks mate. Most of the guys I go out with have similar skis, and the others all have Fish Pro skis! They all have the positives and negatives, but safety and reliability is the major concern for the solo Jetfisher. Let’s see what we can do in future videos! Thanks for coming back!
Thanks for the vid. Some great info in there. How good is a decent fish on the first drop!? Takes the pressure off the rest of the day. But that's why I sold the boat for a jet ski, even if I catch nothing, gonna have fun either way 🙂

ya when you are ocean fishing on a ski you are sure to get wet . fell in behind a 2+foot windwave the otherday and nosedived ,wasnt going very fast but i got a couple of gallon down the neck. woke me up real fast
Thanks Cartos. The rod is pretty long but doubles as live bait rod, trolling rod, and top water caster! It’s a Shimano Bluewater something.., 7’2 heavy. I got it on FF points 4 year ago from the Qantas Store and has caught more big fish than you can imagine. It’s a good live bait rod but probably I should go with something shorter! Funny thing is it’s also good for the big mackerel. You’ll see it makes regular appearances when catching the big Spaniards, not to mention the Mulloway. The trick is the Stella, also purchased on FF points back when I could travel for work. That reel makes a lot of difference between landing big fish or not. A very smooth drag is very important for landing big fish on lighter braids and leaders. And there’s really non better than a Stella!
Hey Paul I’m looking to head out to the banks this weekend on my ski with my brother. How long did it take you to get out and how much extra fuel did you take. Love the content mate
Hi Harry, it doesn’t take too long, maybe less than an hour. But check the weather as this weekend is definitely not advisable. Anything forecast over 15 Knots would be a no go. You may not need extra fuel but I’d carry additional for peace of mind. Maybe 10 litres. It’s only about 30-40km, so that’s really only around 15 litres each way. I’d say you’d need 60 litres depending on how far you go once you get there. But taking the extra 10 will allow you some leeway. But as I said, I wouldn’t be going this weekend with strong winds and large swells.
@@Jetcast yeah I just checked and this weekend is defiantly a no go. Haven’t had much luck this summer with the winds and the rain on the Sunny Coast. Hoping winter is a different story though.
Great info, new sub here. I just got an old yamy gp1200r. Freshly rebuilt. Its a smaller hull than 4 strokes but looking to fish with it (im in Gold Coast) currently building a rack. Do you know anyone who's gone out that far on a 2stroke? happy ski-fishing!
Hi Phil, thanks for watching the video. No I’ve not heard of anybody doing that! If the ski is reliable, and you’ve got the right safety kit, there’s no reason why not I guess! If you get the fishing bug you’ll want to upgrade one day as there’s nothing like the comfort of a new ski to let you push your limits! Good luck out there mate.

@@phildawe7172 no worries. I made my first rear mounted esky and it seemed to work fine for while. You eventually outgrow things I guess! Incidentally pool noodles were the orginal inspiration behind Jetski Collars according to the inventor, Rico from Jetski Fishing Mob!
You’re not wrong! Adding Tubbies or collars can take away that concern... or maybe consider a different brand if the seal issue is playing on your mind. Nothing worse than feeling unsafe. I take my yammy up to 70km off 1770 on my own. Safety gear, pick the day, extra fuel, plenty of water and logging on with VMR and she’s all sweet.

That happens to me quite often! You end up with gallons of water going down the inside of the clothes!
What's your water temp there here is about 11 deg
No we are subtropical, so was around 20 degrees C!

Always should go in pair's if you have a carbon seal leak that would be the worst thing that could happen unfortunate part of owning a jetski
