Yeah, but it is still basically a T-72 - no matter how much "buff'em up". SCRUB'EM ALL and start producing the new K2PL based on the "Black Panther" - as soon as possible and replace ALL MBT-platforms with ONE. Hyunday-Rotem agreed not only to make it, but to make it on Polish soil - they provide the technology, but we'll mass-produce it - with Polish subcontractors, for many of the electronics and opto-electronics, with Polish SPEC-s and they even opened a CREDIT LINE for us. FFS! - I seriously do not understand what our government is still waiting for - you cannot get a better deal than this one - NOT EVER!...
The Polish army didn't need German Leopard II tanks or American M1 Abrams tanks at all. It is a mistake that Poland bought these tanks. Leopard II and M1 Abrams cost three times as much as a PT-16. Polne should have simply ordered Polish PT-16s for the money spent on the Leopard II and M1 Abrams. Because 3 PT-16 are certainly just as powerful as one Leopard II or one M1 Abrams. This is also definitely the case with 3 PT-91.
Not even that, tanks in Poland are obsolete due to terrain type and size. Poland needs fast wheeled AFV's with proper anti tank and anit air armament. Rosomak with modernised everything will do just fine. It's proper ubiquitous platform and relatively cheap and produced in PL for years.
@@lm157 Okay, thanks for the hint! Is the terrain in Poland so very different than in Ukraine? In Ukraine, tanks are used in battle on both sides. But don't know the AFV's so well and can't assess that.
@@GreatPolishWingedHussars There's body of water every 40km (roughly) and Poland is one big plain, densily forested, tank got their use, but it's limited and they're expensive, besides tanks cannot swim and Rosomak can, so does Borsuk. Save money and made state of the art platform out of them, plus proper long, mid and short range air defence plus tons of well equipped light infantry and no tank will enter this land :). Additionally Poland is much smaller than ukraine, there's no strategic depth, no space for big tank operations.
@@lm157 OK. The Polish government obviously disagrees and has bought 250 American Abrams tanks. In addition, the Germans are also said to deliver more Leopard II tanks.
Great on paper, but this is Poland. So I guess this project will never come into existence. A lot of talking and making hype about something that will never see the light of day.Like many other projects such as PL-01 .Yes, I know it was just a concept but the principle is the same

The comparison with the PL-01 is absurd, because the PT-91 has already been upgraded several times!
