Me too, Ronnie! 😊 High school class of '79, here. There was a lot of crappy music, but also some great stuff, including anything Firefall ever did. Hard to believe that's going on almost half a century ago. I have kept a journal since age 13, and I occasionally enjoy breaking out an old journal from my youth and strolling down Memory Lane. Those were largely very happy times, but, now is good, too. 😻
I guess I was in ninth grade in the spring of 77, and I was in shop class, it must've been late May or June, 8th period (end of day) and Mr Eastman would let us listen to the radio as we worked, such a treat. I remember Jimmy Ackert singing this intensely, I was smiling at him cause he was so into the song. That summer, before we came back in September, he was killed in a car accident. To this day, iI think of him every time I hear this wonderful song.
I remember when I first heard this song on the radio it made me think of my wife and how she made me feel. I always sang this song to her back in the day.

When I was Ten....(1979) I was out of the dentist, still 'Feelin IT'😎 and in the car...this song came on at a red light and I saw her in the car next to mine.. My ANGEL,.... I'll NEVER forget those SEVEN PRE-PUBESCENT SECONDS.(in retrospect, I feel as if I peaked early because I'm like,.....an over achiever or something) Its 2022 now and the world is about to collapse into total anarchy and I cant help thinking.... Is she as fat as I am now? (What.!? I hate being the ONLY ONE)
Whenever I hear this song it brings back memories that a both sweet and extremely painful. I was in grad school and began going with a girl that I fell head over heels in love with.......some of the most sweet and tender times were spent nights in each others arms. It came time for me to graduate and take a job that would start my career. I couldn't wait to take it for two reasons: 1) After 7 years in undergrad and grad school I was poor as a church mouse with both a double masters and double undergrad degrees. I had to take a job pretty much across the U.S. 2) Long distance relationships are very difficult most times and we both yearned for each other. Well, this love surrendered to distance and somewhat the attraction to other people. Generally, I would say I can listen to Firefall, no problem.......but there are day when it sneaks up on me and it just breaks my heart. We're both happily married to good people and have lovely families but the saddest words are "What we could have been together." Peace.
