These trucks are the best that the Military has ever used. The m-35 is also the longest serving wheeled military vehicle ever produced. They were built from 1952-1993 and continue to serve in many National Guard, State Gaurd,and Reserve units.
Well thats a double edged sword there, It's a whole lotta fun in the snow, Man it goes through it like nothing Ive seen! But Kinda like to think I'm preserving the truck than running her in Axle high snow. I'm lucky too for having a heater, that was important when I bought it. And yes I lowed the fronts and rears to about 25 psi, I see the dash tag says 15 but the 25 worked Damn well. Thanks!
@91W350 Hey Bud, Thanks for the tip but I knew that from Steel Soilders site, and also from driving it around. Typically I'm not driving anywhere but on my rural road in the winter. And at that 2 miles tops, just got to get to neighbors property or mine aacross the road! Ha! The road has traffic at times but most often is clear. Ive also got 2 sets of chains that I have thrown on and that helps grab quite a bit more going down the road. I can tell the tires arent spinning as much.
@oldschoolbbass Canadian army has been buying up internationals to replace their old Dueces when they die but even after over 10 years of doing that I'd still say a majority of the trucks are Dueces. epic vehicle.
Glad to hear it, God Bless you for your service, My bud's bat numbers are stenciled on the bumper from Vietnam, everywhere I got they ask are you a Marine? Sorry to say Ididnt serve but my friends young and old have, always respect them for that!
Actualy I do have 2 sets of chains, so that would surely help, but as for now I havent needed them. Yeah I did have to drive 14 miles to a bigger town where the salt up that hill, it was a dry road day but you still get it. The station in town close by is down so being it wasnt bad out and I was low I took her up there, Much easier than the gas can 5gal at a time, I already have to do that for the plow!
@kenfo0 Yes it was, but the story is it was a undriven 2 foot high snow bank on the road to my gate (where truck stops) plus its a sharp up hill, the day before and the truck walked right up, the day of the vid it slipped more cause the snow was matted down, cheers! john
Snow Axle high isn't the problem... The salt, now that's a problem... But your truck is very nice looking. I would buy a set of chains for the truck, that is what I plan on doing for my truck...
@HighTQCummins Not to my knowledge, It may be possible to have something like that done, could have sworn I seen someone like that on you tube, Good Luck! And actualy mine was a National Gaurd truck, the stenciled numbers are a dedication to my godd friend.
So why don't you like it in the snow? I know my truck is cold as hell in the winter when it is 20 degrees out it is 20 in the cab... No heater... But I've never had any trouble in the snow or ice with the truck... I use stock NDT's I just lower the air-pressure for a extra traction.
Really didnt need them, I do have a couple of sets and that helped get more traction down the road, because of that mat but Theres nowhere it really ever got stuck, thanks, later!
@Spelunker0211 At the end? If you notice I was running the Blackout light in front, I was in hostile territory and was not going to invite snipers or mortar fire to my location. Thanks!
@MWFrontier Also If you notice I had a bad bearing on the fan pulley, thats that clicking you hear every once in a while, after the vid I tore it open and ordered the parts.
Thank you. I served in the ARMY for 4 years during the Regan years as an electronics technician in a HAWK anti-aircraft missile system.

@stevesai Mine does, so if your going to get one and need it make sure to check, many from the south west seem not to have it.

I don't care what they cost, I want 3 of them.
They are actually fairly cheap
@@drummerdude0314 10k for three maybe 12k
Yes they do at least they did when I was in the but we only had 5 ton In the early 90's .
Not sure where in the description, but to my knowledge they are all manual, at least these style trucks have always been, no problem.
@91W350 yeah, just stock. could use some more treads!
they call em NDT'S for a reason haha. I'm sticking some Michelin 395/85/20's on mine soon.
Actually I have been reading SS for sometime now, I just never became a member because I had no reason to. Nice truck BTW.
Our Canadian version of the deuce is a 4 speed automatic.

ALL Marine Corps 5 tons have lockers on both back axles. Not sure about the deuces.
You shoud try tire chains, its like day and night.

NO... the newer M35A3's were Caterpillar diesel motors with Allison commercial automatics!
do the marine versions have lockers or is that only a rumor. I'd love to pick one of these up one day
Start going to Steel Soilders, learn what you can and w/ few grand you can find one.
@MWFrontier Also If you notice I had a bad bearing on the fan pulley, thats that clicking you hear every once in a while, after the vid I tore it open and ordered the parts.
@oldschoolbbass what about the CCKW?
sweet!
@Knhtwolf Yep
does this have the multifuel motor
Would do even better in the snow with something other than those NDT's
talk about a tree skidder
