  • Amid a raging fentanyl epidemic, drive-by shootings, gang violence, open-air drug markets, nuisance properties and illegal homeless encampments, law enforcement in Snohomish County is taking a pro-active approach to meeting the concerns of the community. The Spotlight’s cameras take viewers on a ride-along where arrests are made and services offered for those ready to accept help. Plus, Everett Police Major Crimes Detectives are asking for the public’s help to solve a mysterious death after the partial remains of a missing sex offender were found. The Spotlight’s David Rose joins investigators as they excavate a property looking for clues to determine a cause of death. And, go behind the scenes with the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office as forensic investigators try to identify five John Doe’s. How your DNA can help put names to their faces and bring comfort to their families.

    Glad that did a spotlight on Snohomish County it's gone so downhill here I work graveyard at a 7 eleven on hwy 99 and oh man it really gets to me. The ish I see on a daily is insane. It's really like a lawless land out here. They run everything and we just have to adapt. What about us law abiding citizens!?! We are literally being harassed on the daily, drug use out in the open I can't even count how many times I see people using drugs outside my store. Un capped needles, foils and drugs themselves I've had to sweep away. And on top of all that the trash! They just trash my store. Some of them are great people and I will buy them food and a little cash to clean the parking lot. But others just steal it or act entitled like they deserve it for free. I get freaked out on daily for not giving free food or cigarettes to them like I work 7 days a week for my money damnit I don't want to be bullied out of it. I just don't put up with it anymore I tell them what's up and not going to bully me or do that shit/hang out in front of my store and to move along. It's really depressing and also makes me just angry. For everyone having to witness this and the CHILDREN IN THE AREA they Have to watch people using drugs and the trash everywhere. Just disgusting and maddening. Law makers, police, the community and business owners we all need to get together and figure something out because it's just going to get worse. They don't go to jail and if they do they are out right away. So to them uts okay for them to continue to do what they are doing. And don't get me wrong I sympathize with there situation but when they are harming not just themselves but us in the community.

    The sickness is why I'll never go back to heroin or street drugs.
    I spent 3 months going cold turkey off heroin. It taught me how strong I was. It was I beat it or I die, well I'm alive and better off then when I started 15 years ago.

    My wife and I just lost everything we owned thanks to the horrible mess Everett has turned into. We had our truck vandalized to the point of no return. They tried to steal it and completely deatroyed it. I caught them in the act.Couldn't get their faces on camera but they were driving a white toyota minivan with temporary tag on the back window. They were mexican, one was short, fat and in his forties wearing a dark coat with stripes on the sleeves, the other was short with tattoos all over his face. Our RV was stolen at a little after 7, when security left this morning from the motel parking lot BY THE SAME PEOPLE. Only this time they were in a dark crossover. So if anyone sees a white Toyota Sienna CE with temp tags and license plate CAS6914 or a white 27 foot R Vision Sport light weight trailer being towed by a small dark crossover around Everett, Please call 911 immediately. Everything we owned is in there. We don't even have clothes. They cannot get far with that vehicle towing that trailer. Also would be very grateful if people could pass the descriptions on. I'm not on social media and I have to work so at least we have a warm place to stay. I cannot believe this is what we get for Christmas. My wife has a huge heart and always gives food to the homeless, helps anyone in need and has influenced me to do the same. She's the best person that I know and she doesn't deserve this. Thank you in advance.

    Wouldn't it be spectacular if thorough investigations were done for the victims of the sexual predator instead of investigations "for" the sexual predator!
    Major FAILING Right out the gate is "He was released!" Perpetrators are regularly bonded low & released!! They go right back out and something usually happens!
    The scourage of Institutional betrayal & Systemic failure in the "injustice system"!
    Wouldn't the time and energy and passion be just spectacular for the actual victims of crimes!??!
    Unfortunately it does not happen like that. Its quite contrary!! 😔

    When those interviewed admit that they are offered housing and other help, but then tell you that they refuse it, that is pretty much the end of the story. That needs to be the well-understood part. They refuse help towards "normal" life because that requires being responsible for progress towards normality, whatever services that means that they need. Until and unless someone is more desperate for food and life and change than they are for the drugs, "help" is not going to make a positive and lasting difference, no matter how compassionate the police or anyone else wants to be. It's one of the reasons that giving money to people in those situations is nearly always a bad idea. The people that help really needs to focus on are those who are not doing hard drugs, at least, and are doing everything they can to work but still can't afford housing while still meeting their other basic obligations.

Ask anyone who has lengthy experience on the streets why so many aren't reached sustainably, and what the difference is with those who are.

    • @ReluctantPost
      @ReluctantPost Год назад +1

      The last killer who thought that would be the outcome is doing decades of time instead. The reason the Founders didn't allow for vigilante justice is that descending to the level of any criminal only proves that you (or the whole society) can be a criminal, too. Countries where it is common are not civil and orderly. They are a mess. It's different than someone protecting their family in the circumstance where someone is committing a crime, or attempting to. There are also high rates of misidentification in vigilante actions. A registered sex offender in the US can include someone charged with urinating in public and 12-year-olds who have been charged with perpetrating conduct that they can't even legally consent to. That sounds like something future generations are going to scorn us for.

      Then their cry wolf tactic forces their victim to spend a weekend in jail, & possibly even have to register as a sex offender, though they never ever committed the crime! (I've seen it happen!)
