Lately I've been making mine with 1oz Balvenie 12yo OR Redbreast 15yo AND Wild Turkey 101. I put it over two big rocks, 2 tsp of simple syrup, 1/2 tsp Luxardo juice, 2 dashes of Agostura and 2 dashes of Orange bitters and garnish with 2 Luxardo cherries and orange peel after torching and zesting in the drink. Try it!
I've been drinking Buffalo Trace old fashioneds since I was able to get my hands on a bottle recently and I'm with Jaime on that one for sure. To me, it might be better as an OF than neat. I gotta get a bottle of OF100 and try that, though. I'm still pretty inexperienced with the variety of bourbons I've had.
I’m with Jaime… love BT! But also love WT101 too! If you like cinnamon I’ve torched a cinnamon stick and then put the glass over it to smoke it… fantastic! 🥃
My favorite whiskey for an OF bar none, is the basic bottom shelf Four Roses! I haven’t found better! Buffalo Trace is good too but four roses is a little better
Early Times or Old Forester Rye are my go-to's for an Old Fashioned. Plus Angostura and Orange bitters, and either a sugar cube or simple syrup. Orange twist and luxardo cherry.
For whatever reason, Rye works so well in an old fashion. I think the spiciness of the rye compliments the sweetness of the cocktail. I almost never grab a bourbon anymore for one. It's funny that you guys tried using JWBlack. I tried making one like that before, and it was terrible. I try to like Scotch, but it's not easy.
Sazerac for me but I have only tried a few with others. i didn't like Evan Williams BIB old fashioned but i enjoy it neat. recently made one with Kirkland BIB and it was fantastic. Will venture out to other brands. I love my old fashioneds. I add a bourbon soaked cherry to mine. Cheers.
@@andreslucero4976Sacred Bond bottled-in-bond brandy. It might not be the best brandy out there, especially if you're a brandy geek, but I like it as a change of pace. Plus, it's only $23 bucks by me.
Pappy's or bust. Kidding. I actually don't really have a preference for OFs, but I'd be curious to see this lineup done with Manhattans... except the Walker. Haha
i bought a bottle of Old Pulteney Scotch and I hate it. Tastes like Listerine. On a whim I tried it in an Old Fashioned and it works fine. At least I don't have to throw away the Old Pulteney now

I came up with my own version of this cocktail. 2 oz Evan Williams BIB, 1/2oz simple syrup, 4 dashes Angostura bitters, 1/2 oz of Gran Marnier.
For me the best whiskeys for Old fashioned are OF100 RYE and Old Grand Dad BiB and 114. The Bookers expensive option great as well
The best old fashioned I've ever had was made with Four Roses single barrel barrel strength.

High West Double Rye! is my fave for Old Fashioned.

I like OF 100 for my Olf Fashion as well. But lately I"ve really been liking Old Grand Dad Bonded.

For me it’s knob 9 or makers mark. Wt 101 and OF 100 are solid options as well.
I second KC9.
I love the Old Granddad Bonded in my Old Fashioned. But I have also used all of the bourbons you selected and they are fantastic.
I second the OGD Bonded
I made a wee beastie maple old fashioned. Surprising. Thanks for the recommendations y’all!

I love an old fashioned with Saz Rye!
Jameson is magically delicious ☘️
Great review. I don’t drink many mixed drinks but when I do Old Fashion is my go to. I usually use Elijah Craig or OF Rye
Enjoyed this review. I’m an old fashioned guy that loves an old fashioned. I like mine with Old Forester Rye.
Rittenhouse Rye is my goto!
OF100 is my go-to for old fashioneds, but I use blue agave for the sugar to “richen it up.” Give it a try!
Try old granddad bonded in an old fashion. It’s incredible
The Jameson Black Barrel is amazing please try it
Old Granddad 114 or Rittenhouse Rye both make great old fashioneds. Today agree on both of your the Old Forester choices and the WT101
I can't possibly fathom making old fashioneds with Irish Whiskey. That is hierarchy!!
@@casey3831 ha. Yes! Autocorrect…
Here's one: Redwood Empire Pipe Dream - its pretty not bad in an old fashioned
2/3rds whatever bourbon you like, 1/3rd Old Forester Rye is the move.
Scotch and Irish in a old fashioned sound bad to me haha, Bourbon and Rye are the best! I love Rare Breed in my old fashioned. 😋
Templeton rye 6 year is where it’s at
Have you tried BenchMark Full proof .... makes a fantastic Old Fashion
Oooooo! I might try that out tonight. Cheers!
Jaime “if you like Christmas 🎄 “… who doesn’t like Xmas!??
Might be a sin but I’ve always liked woodford double oaked in mine and if I’m not going for that I prefer a rye.
As a viewer from WI I am very disappointed you didn’t have a brandy option 😄. That’s the only way my Dad makes them!
What's your go-to bitters? 1821? Maybe the most important ingredient.
You forgot the brandy. That's how they drink them in Wisconsin. Heaven Hill puts out a bottled in bond brandy aged in ex bourbon barrels.
What is the name of this brandy?

Old Grand Dad BiB is my go-to old fashioned. Love the nuttiness and the 100 proof gives it that oomph. Elijah Craig would probably be my second.
Maker's 46 makes a good Old Fashioned
Buffalo Trace for me ❤
Can't go wrong with that
I haven't yet..lol😉
Basil Hayden is a good one.
i bought a bottle of
Old Pulteney Scotch and I hate it. Tastes like Listerine. On a whim I tried it in an Old Fashioned and it works fine. At least I don't have to throw away the Old Pulteney now
You forgot knob creek 120 proof
Early Times BiB makes a great OF.
Best Old Fashioned is one made with a full proof bourbon.
I tend to agree I like Old Fashioned's made with 115+ proof stuff
No Woodford 🤔 blasphemy 🤦🏻♂️😂
Agree
Basil Hayden Dark Rye. Try it and thank me later.
Buffalo trace or bulleit
woodford bro.. woodford
Rittenhouse Rye is the best whiskey for an OF
handsome lad and a lovely lady :)
wtf no knob creek?
