My goodness, this video was jam-packed with all sorts of fun, from ghost birds to funeral banquets! I have to admit I'd not heard of of them, and I think I would have been quite frightened myself to be sat down in front of a coffin, lol! Fun to watch, and I learned quite a few things! I agree, today, we hardly see people actually taking the time to write a letter, let alone a romantic one. What a shame, it's such a lovely act to do, and save as keepsakes! I guess we romantics, and nightbirds will have to try to keep that grace alive. Thank you, Laetitia!
Thank you Carina ! yes the atmosfear of this banquet was very strange but it had been a massive success in Paris at the time, everybody wanted to join the next one he would organize. There are letters resistants hopefully but It's amazing the time back then, people were devoting to write letters because there were long letters with several sheetsfully covered , not 1page long.... It takes me around 2 hours to write a letter double sides , reading the letters they were writing is really humbling ! oh yes romantic letters are even rarer these days.... How sad....Absolutely !! well said ! you're welcome :)

I just learned that Otfried Preußler wrote also other books I used to read. The little ghost and the robber Hotzenplotz. These are generally books for very young readers. 📚
I adore that you brought up, À rebours. In the Oscar Wilde book, The Picture of Dorian Grey it is believed to be the "poisonous French novel" that leads to the downfall of Dorian. It certainly seems like it could be given its contents.. it's part of the Decadent period of literature, literally against the Natural movement of literature at the time. Great fun to see how it affected the writers in the 1890's!
I will have to reread The picture of Dorian Gray afterwards, I read it a long time ago and didn't remember that ! Yes I'm very intrigued about the passages I've read and what Des Esseintes accomplishes in his house. yes this novel seems to have had a big impact afterwards even to this day the old book shop in my town sells this book to collectors all the time.

I really like the way your skirt came together. The wide waistband makes such a good fit, easy to layer with other pieces. The skirt drapes beautifully. Our weather has turned cooler, following the severe storms which did not affect our area very badly. We have been so fortunate. Because your town is on higher ground, and your mother's home in the alps also, I hope the storm in France did not affect you badly. Quel temps! Fond regards to all.

Here in my town (touch wood) we are not exposed to too much weather extremes,we can't be flooded we don't have earthquakes only wind and bad hailstones once in while. be yes around Paris they had a lot of flooding and a lot of rain.
