    Can bathroom vent (like a boost switch) for one or two bathrooms optionally supply the return air to the dehumidifier (and signal the dehumidifier to turn on)?

    So an a whole home dehumidifier with an ERV. How often do you see ERV’s separately hooked up with whole home dehumidifiers?

    I have a sealed attic now on an existing house (would never ever do this again) and now predictably (except for the sales people) I have moisture issues. On top of this my 60 yr old house is pretty air tight per my blower door test and really need more ventilation than some bath fans. Can I retrofit this into my attic and would this work for me?

      @@aprilaireco Wow, that is really weak. He asked a direct question and you make him go fetch. Bad, bad move. Maybe he wants questions answered so that he can do this himself. He has a sealed attic, so this moves him to the front of the class. With a humid, conditioned attic, there is a risk of ridge rot and dehu should mitigate (but maybe not eliminate) that. The ridge also needs vapor diffusion.

    Is this product also an ERV? Does it transfer heat to/from the incoming air, or does it just pass through the system?

    • @aprilaireco
      @aprilaireco  3 года назад

      Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! No, this is not an ERV in that it doesn’t balance the air coming in with the air going out, but rather it positively pressurizes the home with fresh, humidity-controlled air. If you have any additional questions, we'd be happy to assist.

    • @ericgiesberg4179
      @ericgiesberg4179 3 года назад

      @@aprilaireco would you still need to tie this with an ERV or does it maintain the pressure automatically. For example, if you turn on the kitchen exhaust, the pressure drops, the unit detects it and then it pulls in outdoor air?

    • @aprilaireco
      @aprilaireco  3 года назад +1

      @@ericgiesberg4179 Thank you for contacting Aprilaire. The Aprilaire Ventilating Dehumidifier operates on a timer, meaning that it will bring in fresh air for a certain number of minutes per hour. It is not necessary to use with an ERV, as it will open the dampers in the ductwork based on the timer in order to bring in and dehumidify fresh air. If you have any additional questions, we'd be happy to assist.

    Does this unit have a MERV 13 filter?

    • @aprilaireco
      @aprilaireco  2 года назад +1

      Hi Jennifer - Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! This combination of products has a MERV 8 filter in the E100V dehumidifier. The filter’s main purpose is to filter air going through the dehumidifier to protect the internal components. It is not meant to be a substitute for your main furnace filter(s). If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist.
