  • If you're looking for a budget friendly commuter eBike, this one is worth a look! Single speed, belt drive, disc brakes, 32c tires, 18-55 miles range, top speed of 28mph... so sick!

    I changed out the fork and handlebars for Carbon Fiber, went for a lightweight front wheel and 28cm gatorskin tire with known puncture protection; and a thomson elite seatpost with light weight saddle. My eBike rides with no vibration on chip seal pavement, tis now 32 pounds, and I find it much easier to carry up and down three flights of stairs. I love my neighborhood, amenities, but I could not leave this bicycle at street level it would disappear in less than an hour. I like the looks of the KBO hurricane eBike only change I would make now is to change the cadence sensor for a Torque sensor to climb a bit better with the small 250 watt motor. I hope KBO will release a V2 of this bicycle with a carbon fiber frame to reduce its weight below 26 pounds, & maybe add a gates belt drive and drop bar option.
    I really like your basket bar upgrade, they look interesting, but reducing weight was a priority to carry up and down the stairs easily, as my building does not have a freight elevator.

    Great review ,thanks. This bike seems ideal for me. Wouldn't have found this one on my own .

    I like the sleek look and your mods. I would just want a torque sensor, throttle, and at least a 500w motor. You say a 28mph top speed but it looks like you were topping out at 20mph.

    Good review brother I think this is a great value bicycle just one question; it's one size only or they have different frames sizes?

    Is it possible to remove the battery with a screw driver? Wondering if carrying a spare battery makes sense?

    • @thegravelist
      @thegravelist  2 года назад +1

      Good question. You could, but it would take extra effort as the battery is well integrated in the down tube. Making quick swapping a bit of a pain, especially while you’re out riding.

    I already know it's still going to be extremely difficult to change gear ratio on that thing. It seems the PRIORITY ACE is the only belt drive bike that's gear changing friendly.

    would have been great to seen a handle bar basket install. would have made your review stand out from all the others.

      @@thegravelist you could still do it. I just purchased one of those bikes. I like it a lot and suits my intentions. However, the handle bars are not adjustable as I would like them to be. However, at the price point, that's a small gripe.

      @@checkeredflagfilms totally agree about the bars! Adding the basket totally changed the functionality for me. Unfortunately, I’ve since off-loaded this bike so I can’t make a video about the bars. Pretty easy to install them though! Best of luck and have fun out there 🙌🏼🙌🏼

    How much shock on your wrists?

    • @thegravelist
      @thegravelist  3 года назад +1

      You can feel the bumps if the road conditions are bumpy. But it's not that bad, the oversized grips and keeping the PSI around 45 on the tires is a huge help!

    This is a great bike and started me looking to others like it such as the Babymaker II, Ride 1 Up Roadster and V Volt Alpha and l decided on the Aventon Soltera for its greater payload capacity and throttle. While it has a chain drive, I can live with that.

    I think you just sold me my first ebike. I live in Chicago which is very flat and I also plan to carry groceries along with commuting in general. Is the back compatible with a back rack ?

    • @thegravelist
      @thegravelist  3 года назад +1

      Right on Mark! This bike rips on flat surfaces. It’s pretty affordable (for an eBike) and the belt drive is so smooth. Especially for you in Chicago during those winter months 🤙🏼

    • @thegravelist
      @thegravelist  2 года назад +1

      Varies depending on the hills in your area. But I got 24 miles with about 800ft of elevation and 30% battery left. That’s what my commute is to work. Had to charge at work to get back home.
