Come back home is a remake/cover of Seo Taiji and Boys, from their fourth album Sidae Yugam released in 1995. Seo Taji and Boys are THE OG of Kpop. They basically invented the genre before it became an industry. Seo Taji has recognize BTS as their succesor in term of deep meanigful and socially engaged lyrics. BTS were invited by Seo Taji to participate to his 25 anniversary concert (the performance is super cool but will be 100% blocked on YT)
Come back home is a song for the young people who run away from home. This was very efficient cuz thanks to this song, lots of teens came back to their parents.
    JIN is amazing here!!!

I love this performance and Jin killed those high parts. Namjoon’s voice and presence is so good. He looks incredible too 🫠 I mean, when does he not though.

Tammy I feel you on Namjoon heavy lol😂. The way you're getting into bts was kind of similar to mine. Of course we had different biases at first, mine was taejoon, but I found myself slowly picking one out of the seven gradually and biasing them till I realized I was in love with all 7 of them and no longer had a bias😂. I truly found out I was ot7 when I would watch any clip of the boys and noticed that I would have something to say about all 7, when I found out I supported and was excited for all 7 of them solo endeavors, when I would always root for all 7 of them in anything they do. Things like that make you ot7💜
Namjoon still has my heart cause he was my gateway to the group🥹.
Please if you haven't watched this can you add Namjoon intelligent moments compilation videos. I don't have a specific one but if you can pick a recent one that would be cool💜

sorry for such long comments and so many youtube wouldn't let me post it all at once. hope it's informative at least.😅
the original come back home as said by other comments is by seo tai ji from 1995.
he was the first idol but he was 100% self made wrote and produced his own music with his group. there was no training no labels he just loved music he was in a rock band before learning hip hop and electronics which he then combines hip hop , pop, r&b, rap, rock with korean traditional music like trot and folk and ballads. he was one of the first artists on music shows along with whoever else was big at the time. theres very very little resemblance of kpop now vs when it started. highly recommend reacting to bbygangmags videos bts vs kpop and
after his group disbanded people started creating labels and searching for talent and debuting groups. (depending on your opinion of him YG was in seo tai ji and the boys like the yg the former ceo and creator of yg entertainment) so naturally he went on to create that label as well as the ceo of sm im not sure how he started if he was also a artist but he made sm around this time as well. and a few other labels that either evolved or dont exist anymore. jyp was a artist himself im not sure if he was considered a idol but he won on music shows. he tried to become a artist under either sm or yg but eventually created jyp and debuted his backup dancer as a artist named rain and quickly the big 3 were formed they all seemed like actual creatives who loved music but clearly along the way they all lost themselves and became greedy old men who wanted control money and power im sure the first generation had issues but compared to 2nd gen and after clearly something changed in their vision which lead to the mistreatment and mismanagement of so many that ive lost count. bang pd used to work with jyp and helped produce for his artists and managed groups with jyp so mostly under jyp but also under bighit which was very new and not really that successful he eventually didnt like the way the industry was heading and how other labels treated the idols so he broke ties with jyp still being friendly while developing bighit by himself and the rest is history you know a lot of.
the groups before bts mostly were comanaged by jyp but when those grousp disbanded some solo artists stayed in bighit like lee hyun who makes ballads. while bang pd focused on creating a hip hop group that were not gonna be idols but slowly as the members started training he realized the idol industry is where the money is and while money isnt his main focus it is still important to survive. so he made new goals to debut a hip hop idol group who will have the creative freedom of the underground while still participating in idol like things but not conforming to majority of kpop rules. like from my knowledge theres really only 4 kpop rules bts seemed to follow training/practice, diet 😢, curfews and agyeo (acting cute when asked)
training and practice were a given regardless so its not really a rule per say mostly what they have in common with other idols.
diet was something many armys especially internationally never liked in 2016 there was a gradual shift in bighits push for dieting and it was clear they hired professionals to keep it to safe levels they do still diet but its not dangerous anymore. and we can see from 2020 onwards they choose if they want to diet and if they do the consult the trainers, doctors, nutritionists etc to keep them at healthy dieting similar to professional athletes.
curfew some see them as oppressive i see them as necessary and something normal while the idols are underage. if the members were home with their families not becoming idols their parents would give them curfews automatically due to the strict school system and pressures to study and do extra curricular activities. being a idol isnt different in that sense and if the idols didnt have a curfew at such young ages they would get into trouble or not focus on whats necessary. when people especially international criticize the curfews i get confused cause so many kids in the west also get curfews ot just depends on the parents. like the common saying be home before the street lights turn on that is a curfew its not oppressive its not mistreatment its necessary to protect the kids. it was always odd how people would try to frame it as this weird thing only kpop idols go through and its because american child stars werent protected in this way so for some reason they think its odd when regular children would get it from their parents at least the good parents.
lastly ageyo idk if im spelling it right but this is a idol thing and it seems part of idol culture many non idol koreans say its cringey and they dont understand why idols have to do so and its because the former demographic of idols were teens and kids. before kpop went global kpop was mainly for teens and kids and they liked the ageyo. but most idols do not like it at all and its become more normalized for older idols to stop doing it or reject it when asked. in 2018 when i became a army it wasnt at that stage yet it was starting to transform into the boundaries but so much cringe happened back then. i remember in 2019 was when jungkook had enough when someone brought a baby bonnet to the fan sign and made him wear it. jungkook has been seen as the baby since debut cause he was literally a child so were jimin, v rm and jhope. but being the youngest jungkook got the ageyo request much more. especially since the rest were adults by the end of 2014 so jungkook had to deal with being a kid until 2016/2017 even tho most boys dont like to be babied after age 14 he had to deal with it until 19/20 and even after in early 2019 was the incident with the bonnet. he had already started saying he wasnt a baby and he is a grown man but some didnt listen. thats when he started getting his tattoos and changing his style and saying he wants to be seen as sexy not cute etc and that public shift in 2019 being the biggest group at that point helped shift kpop idols from staying in their cutesy phases or personas and slowly stopping ageyo and standing up for themselves more and more.
i remember never really liking twice because the cutesy style isnt my thing and they later came out with cant stop me music video and it was a clear shift that they were grown women. a lot of the 97 liners also started not being as young and there was a clear indication of 3rd generation idols and 4th generation starting because the 4th generation were teens mostly and 3rd gen were adults so it was easier to tell. of course not every group but a good amount. and then the cute concepts turned into still colorful but not childish if that makese sense. while newer younger idols had more childish concepts. for example txt crown. you can tell the difference between bts boy with luv and txt crown. both colorful but boy with luv clearly more mature. both concepts were age appropriate for the age ranges. and this was when jungkook started to be called hyung forcing those that wouldn't let him grow up to accept it. the tattoos enhance that while encouraging other idols to get tattoos which is helpful to tattoo culture in korea being more normalized. if you didnt know being a tattoo artist is still illegal in korea unless you have a doctorate degree. most do not so while getting tattoos isnt illegal being a tattoo artist and opening a shop is illegal due to tattoos being historically linked to gangs/mafia in Japan and korea. but its slowly changing with a lot of help from idols showing them off proudly. it's why it gets censored or covered in music shows and award shows thats not from the labels thats from censorship laws and the government. by 2020 - 2022 jungkook clearly found himself and changed his image. but seven and 3d solidified it.
kpop now and kpop in 2018 are so different there were some things that weren't allowed that are now and there were some freedoms and free energy that isn't present now. for example encore performances used to be cause the most chaos and act the most silly and dont worry about sounding perfect just have fun with the audience no pressure. now you have to basically sing and dance perfectly otherwise you get crucified after you already performed who knows how many times to film the music show performances. encore used to be fun carefree with everyones personality shining through now if youre not perfect you ruin your image and possibly hurt you groups reputation.

Wanted to also ask if you would add (to your already long list of requests) one of Jimin’s fave Idols… TAEMIN ! Songs: Criminal, Advice, Guilty (any others are great too). I think you will enjoy him… fantastic singer, incredible dancer, unique artistry & super nice guy! Keep up the fun reactions! 💜🫰🏻

I always say that I'm true ARMY because though I would only marry my bias (Hoseok) I would fight even Hobi, for the other members. Having a bias is fine as long as you love and respect all of them. 💜

its infuriating these new idols cant experience any break or any carefree fun in public they can only do so without cameras or for content. if you want to see a difference watch bts encore at music shows or 2018 encore kpop vs 2023- 2024 encores.
back to seo tai ji himself he seemed to break ties with his former members and clearly didnt like the way the industry turned out he had to wait over 20 years for a idol group he could be proud of and claim as his successors people he passed the torch to and told this is your generation.
which is why all the arguments and jealousy from some idols, many labels especially the big 3 and kpop stans are useless and opinion based only because korea saw seo tai ji pass the torch he never considered anyone else so that proved bts paved the way. and the only ones who accepted it are the ones who respect both seo tai ji and bts. took it with dignity and saw it as pride and admiration rather than jealousy or animosity.
very few big 3 groups fall into the category of respect and admiration but the label with the most is jyp. so while jyp isnt that good at least his artists majority have dignity and respect and want prosperity even if it means not being the ones at the very top they know that good karma will come their way if they accepted their challenges as well as appreciate the road of opportunity they can now walk on. for example stray kids and twice.
some other labels and groups are doing well but they could be doing better if they would change to fit the times the west does not like the controlled idol approach where so many arent given freedom to not only participate in their music but just be themselves. other labels feel very controlled even in concerts and award show performances while bighit, hybe and jyp idols seem carefree and be themselves mostly of course theres still professionalism and some control in jyp and some hybe groups but for example the difference between bts, got 7, stray kids, mamamoo (small label artist) vs many large groups from other labels in award shows. most sit still smile maybe clap but bts and got 7 especially literal chaos in award shows. newer generations i haven't watched a lot of award shows so idk if they have that same level of carefree in public. but there was a time when it was expected for some idols to goof off and be chaos and others were clearly not allowed to do so. the ones who did were typically small label groups who were given more freedom creatively, personally, or both. and then there was a few where i was rare so im not sure if they were told to not and then told to try to stand out by doing what others did or if they simply had the choice and just felt awkward or not as comfortable and the times they did was just a coincidence. i dont know these groups in depth or how deep their labels go on control but ive heard many examples from former idols plus controversies like lawsuits and blacklists and idols leaving their labels to know its clearly not full freedom in those labels.
i used to think it was simply culture difference when i first got into bts and saw so many idols who sat still not showing much expression or interest in the performances and just clapped when it was over. especially in interviews internationally. i learned for the interviews many follow their leader and stay quiet to not do or say anything unprofessional to not harm their image in the global music markets that they're trying to enter. which is 100% understandable.
but in korea many do the same when they should be able to be carefree at least a bit. so at some point its not cultural and becomes rules they were told not to break. which imo is wrong and can make the idols miserable.
i also want to mention how important come back home was in 1995. so many teens and kids had run away from home prior and during 1995. seo tai ji made this song to encourage the kids to come home. bts rappers rewrote many new lyrics themselves which is why this is officially their song while being a remake it has similar instruments to the original and similar chrous however the lyrics and melody is very different. think of old school hip hop how it sounded like run dmc its tricky or maybe beastie boys the way they used to rap in the 80s - 90s thats how seo tai ji was as well its hard to explain but if you listen to the original youll understand. anyway come back home influenced thousands of kids to return home and was labeled as a miracle.
bts still leave some sentiments of the original meaning but also make it personal to them and their story.
sorry for ranting lol. i want you to be able to see and know what kpop used to be because its so different in so many ways now. again sorry for such long comments.
