    Risk Disclosure:
    Futures and Forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing ones’ financial security or life style. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
    Hypothetical Performance Disclosure:
    Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below.
    No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. for example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.

    OK this is the second time I've heard you talk about me having to care why someone would take the opposite side of my trade. Balderdash. I have no way of knowing who is on the other side or what their reasons are and to spend any time at all wondering is a waste of energy. It might be a market maker, a retail trader on a beach in Hawaii, an HFT in London or an institution. Each one of those entities will be operating on their own time frames and using their own methods and none of that has any bearing at all on what I am doing. The only thing that matters is what the market overall does and how I handle it.

      I cant help to also agree. What others do have no effect on me. I dont control the market. I am only reacting to it. In real situstions you cant analyse every move in detail like he does. I try to keep it real simple.

    You mentioned limit order and stop order bears 34:49. How can you tell from the candles which bears are they?

  • @cosmicbandido8186
    @cosmicbandido8186 2 года назад

    @ 34:46 Hello Al, how do you differentiate limit order bears and stop order bears. How do you see a difference just by watching the candles?

  • @Longlostpuss
    @Longlostpuss 2 года назад +1

    At 16:11 - you're not mentioning the fact that these Bear bars have extremely long wicks at either end at the beginning of the trend, so even though the candle bodies do not show overlapping price action, the actual traded footprint left in these bars shows there was extreme overlapping price action in the first two bars after the first signal bar.
    That means if you were day trading that price action in real time, you would have had absolute no idea when or where to get into that trade and there was an extremely high possibility that you would have been stopped out twice in a row and given up on the trade and probably thrown something at your screen.
    It would be more interesting to actually run a replay of a chart with a similar pattern and illustrate frame by frame the correct way to have entered and exited the trade. Even doing it that way is sort of cheating, because it's all hindsight, but it's the theory that counts.
    This is why most traders lose money, because alot of the price action is too extreme at either end and it's nigh on impossible to trust your trade. Signal bars are just no longer signal bars anymore and there are so many combinations that can be thrown up to fake out traders. Even extreme price action bars can be reversed by a similar or even bigger bar on the next pass, there's just no way of telling that your trade is safe.
    I personally never take trades with wide stops for this reason, because you can no longer sit there and think "this won't retrace all the way back from here".

  • @overplayed3553
    @overplayed3553 Год назад

    so i don’t short retracements in a bull trend, i don’t use my bearish levels for shorts when in an uptrend. i should use bullish levels for uptrend. so decide trend to play, then decide the levels to use. which trend am i looking at? and the market is always in a bull trend, bear trend, or a trading range. candle close and short to next PT even in an uptrend ? NO

    I'm a little confused by why Brooks considers breakouts high risk. If you're quick enough to move your stop up with the BO, it's no more risky than a trend. Or, if you're fast enough to configure your trade correctly, a trailing stop limit with a sufficient margin behind the BO would quickly become zero risk. Sure, I see that if you get into a BO and leave your stop at the bottom (for longs) that's high risk if there's a quick reversal, but there's no reason you have to do that.

    I think it’s better to trail stop loss in break outs moving it under the previous candle low. if candles don’t overlap the risk of being stopped out is low and if breakout ends and reverses you will get the max profit vs leaving your stop at the bottom of breakout

      There are no false / true BO, it’s all traders confident to take the entry…stay your stop loss as planned. If you revise the stop loss there will be chance of hitting revised stop loss on bull trappers. A single bear bar in the BO may hit your revised stop loss.
