Trading When a Market Is in a Bull Channel | Al Brooks

  • Based on his 30+ years as a trader, Al Brooks will discuss how he classifies and trades a variety of bull channels. He will use E-mini examples, but the same principles apply to all markets and time frames. Tight channels are strong trends, but the broader a channel is, the more he trades it like a trading range. Al will talk about setups, entries, and trade management.

    Questions: how can I identify the channel when its forming? Most of the time the channel is clearly visible when its ending.

    I find that for intraday forex trend trading most important relevant (Guide)trend direction is ON 15 minute, 1h and 4h charts only-- For intraday trading weekly & monthly trends do not matter much(too far removed from intraday field of activity) & can be ignored. For simplicity sake if 15 minute ,1h & 4h trends are in the same direction, you have a trade set up in the same direction (one could fine tune entry 0n 5 minute charts). In general if daily candle be in the same direction for any trade it is better but not A must.--Sir, what do you have to say?

    Hi Al! Thank you for being such a good instructor! I want to know what is the difference between a channel and a wedge when you say three pushes Up or Down? In channel there are pushes and so is in a wedge. Should we be considering the high probability end of a channel after 3 pushes as in the case of wedge?

    • @MostIntelligentMan
      @MostIntelligentMan 3 года назад +3

      why problem, break out, initial strong surprise like those big consecutive 3 green bars in this video, thats it u assume trend started, u will be right half the time at least, sich strong moves prob have more like 60% chance of trend starting, how u make money? your risk at such begining stage is low, ur stop loss would be bellow those 3 bars initially, potential profit would be at least 2x bigger comoared to ur risk, so even u right half the time you still consistently making money as long as u trade every surprise break out as potential trend start

    • @mauriceamaraggi8098
      @mauriceamaraggi8098 3 года назад

      @@MostIntelligentMan thank you. But if you get in after these three bars most probably you will get a retracement that may hit the stop loss. Why would market not evolve in a range set up rather than trend or even reverse?

    • @MostIntelligentMan
      @MostIntelligentMan 3 года назад +4

      @@mauriceamaraggi8098 as i said u will be wrong half the time, dont matter, the half the time u right u will be getting massive profits which will cover all ur losses and more, al brooks always says 60-40 ur chances are always somewhere inbetween 60 or 40%, its all about ur average loss compared to ur average win, ok big surprise break out failed? u stoped out? ok no big deal, half the time it wont fail and potentialy u will be at begining of massive trend and make 10x ur risk

      @@mauriceamaraggi8098 then you should enter after the first breakout candle and put your stop loss below the low. Or you can just simply wait for a pullback to buy again near the high of a bull bar.

    The whole logic makes no sense
    what happens in reality is either funds sell some shares and buy some( on the rotation) depending funds activity market mostly range bound .
    on same days they keep buying in big quantities 3 or 7 days a row or sell
    bulls or bears dont watch 5 min candles to trade

    Does everyone not see how this guy is making it up as he goes along? A channel is not defined as a breakout and a pullback. That alone should raise red flags that this is a conman, and not a very good one.

      In your case Jonathan, I'd say its a simple case of pearls before swine. You clearly dont grasp what he's saying. Which is a pity because there's serious value here. You're just not smart enough to get it at the moment.

      Don't try to be toxic! Uncalled for remarks

    • @JonathanNovacktv
      @JonathanNovacktv 2 года назад

      @@LitoGeorge I mean, you have to be dense. I'm watching again, and after less than two minutes he's: a. said says every bull trend begins with a breakout, because that's a sign that buyers are aggressive and sellers are giving up. But some trends are more gradual than he's describing, and common sense should tell you this. Sellers don't need to be giving up for there to be a bullish trend! And if identifying a new trend was as easy as spotting breakouts, we'd all be rich! Are you rich from trading?? b. He says a bull channel is a series of higher highs and higher lows, then, before nervously clearing his throat, he says once you get a pullback from a breakout, you have a channel. Which is it?? Is a channel a breakout and a pullback, or is it a series of higher highs and lows? I mean, you're calling me 'not smart', and you can't see what's right in front of your face my man. . c.he says he thinks of every bull bar as a breakout. WTF is he talking about? Therefore, a large percentage of every chart would be a breakout..bullish breakouts would be happening all over the place, even in downtrends! This was just after two minutes! Such utter nonsense, but how's your account doing following his advice, hm?
      Also, he's used the term two legged pullback, and that's Mack's terminology from Price Action Trading course. Mack may or may not be legit himself, but the two legged pullback was not Al's concept.
