  • The 2nd tune is Addie Harper's "Barrowburn" reel, still very popular although this clip would have been recorded nearly 30 years ago. Tich was a superb guitar player , and a member of "The Boys Of The Lough" until he was tragically killed in a car crash.

I truly miss Tich 😢 Got to know him in the 80s when he played with you all on the peninsula. Thank you for this.

Wonderful fiddle and wonderful guitar playing - the lovely Shetland swing I like being accompanied with :)

Before his death Tich was a regular at his local session in Durham's Colpitts Hotel. A splendid chap and great musician.

I wanted to bring this up again in case anybody out there knows the answer: What is the title of the first tune in this video? Also, is it of Scottish origin, or specifically Shetland, or from some other tradition entirely? I really like it but unfortunately cannot find any information about it anywhere online, in any of the albums put out by Aly Bain and the Boys of the Lough, nor from contemporary Scottish fiddlers. If you've got any info, please reply to this comment.

Does anyone know the name and/or locational origin of the first tune in this recording?
