The accuracy needed to dig blind under the earth from 2 different directions and meeting in the middle with a requirement that both tunnels must not be off by just a few millimeters is incredible.

Indeed, always thought the Afsluitdijk was a feat, but at least they had surface level observation and a larger margin for error.
Tunnels are even more impressive, besides GPS assist, there's also the height margins to consider. Don't want to drill through the sea floor and accidentally cause a flood.

I’ve installed over 17 miles of fiber optic cables and maintained them as other contractors yank them out accidentally or cut them during the installation of THEIR project. You have to go to a four month course to learn to repair the fibers individually so that there is >0.004% data transmission loss. Each repair takes forty minutes and requires perfect precision and steady hands. Then when you’re done if the data lost is too great…back you go (and you don’t get paid for the second repair)

One little error in the video was where you mentioned the sun being 142,000,000 miles away. That SHOULD have been KM, not miles as on average it really is only 93,000,000 miles away. I swear the mind is such a fascinating and really just amazing thing but I feel like a lot of us(possibly even most) don't really understand it enough. Hopefully that makes sense.

Great start, the Channel Tunnel runs from near Folkestone, not Dover... The method was correct though!

That "Ferris Wheel" is just a lock. They have them all over the world where one water way is higher or lower than the connecting one.

This channel fast became my favorite subscribed channel despite having subscribed to Infographics years longer. While I still like them a lot Be Amazed has everything they have, upload almost as often but cover a wider variety of topics. Lately it seems Infographics has been stuck on wars and military comparisons, while interesting it gets redundant quickly.

@ 10:40 Who was it that drove millions of heavy logs into the mud for the city to be built upon? It's such a labor and materials' intensive project, like building a pyramid.
