    The rich doesn't have two heads rather the poor have no proper information to multiply their income. Investment is the key, it has always worked for me and it can still work for you if you have the right information.

      From the look of things: money separates the poor from the good things of life. Not working for the money but letting the money work for you through investments should be in everyones mind.

      The best way to create and maintain wealth is by investing, investments saves one from not working all through their life time expecting to retire and enjoy their labor at the age of 60-65 as the case maybe. And my question is, will you be physically fit to enjoy the fruits of your working years?.

    My favorite book of the year. Surprisingly profound. Analyze your life under MJ's system and see how you look to yourself. The worst thing about this book is that I didn't find it in my 20s. Turns out I'm in a slow lane but I have a few interesting Fastlane traits.

    A major thing about mj demarco that most people don't realise is that he started a website which didn't require a large upfront cost/cost to scale. That's why he was able to become a millionaire young and also have time freedom. He did this during the dot com boom. If you created a different type of fast lane business you might not reap the rewards until a later age in life because of the extra capital required. Also if you fail with a higher capital business and go bankrupt you could be financially ruined for a long time. This is why if you do want to become rich young like the book suggests you should look for a fastlane business idea that requires low unfront cost and preferably an online business.

      I think the part about luck not existing was hilarious. He rode the dotcom bubble up and sold just before 2008. Hasn't done anything meaningful since. He's no different than Justin Beiber pulling out an acoustic guitar and posting a video of himself on youtube which ultimately led to a record deal and millions of dollars. JB had to learn the guitar for several hours the same way MJ learned web dev for several hours.

    Refusing to Settle! Thanks a lot for this video, I'm struggling to start an online business, I don't seem to find the time, my 9 to 5 takes most of my energy... Well it's not really 9 to 5 but a 7 to 5... So yeah, it takes most of my time. I know I'll get where I want to be, I'll never give up... thank you for the inspiration!

    Thanks for this video, Clark. I would like to add that it's also important to be wary of so-called teachers that provide online courses just for the sole purpose of scamming you. I had several cases where I was interested in an online course but did some research about it beforehand and found out that countless of people got scammed.

    Thanks for the informative video Clark. I've always enjoyed your book reviews. I got the idea about Lincoln and the tree, but the metaphor is sharpening his axe, not his saw. lol Just a little CC for your edification. In keeping with the message of your video I want to share something a rich friend of mine teaches. He says either you own your business, or your business owns you. He follows what he calls the DDD formula: Dictate, Delegate, and Disappear.

  • @aleksagordic9593
    @aleksagordic9593 5 лет назад +2

    All in all a nice and valuable video, thanks for sharing it with us! A couple of remarks/thoughts though:
    1. 1:15 "Getting rich quick does exist". Thankfully you talk in really vague and relative terms so I cannot say you're not right. BUT. That artist started singing when he/she was 10. Those professional athletes that signed a multimillionaire contract, or that guy that sold his business overnight to Google you mentioned, worked their whole lives on building their personal value and then a couple more years and only than was it an overnight success. So quick is relative yeah it's quicker than 60 years but it's still 10-20 years (a lot of which you don't acknowledge as work). It's kinda dangerous to say quick because for most people quick is 1 year. If you spent your whole life not working on developing yourself, there's no way you're going to provide value in 1 year, good luck with that. So quick = 10+ years. Even though those books you read, those online courses you did, gym workouts, etc. didn't contribute directly to your business, they were a part of the personal development you were doing and that takes time.
    2. 9:00 Fill a demand instead of creating a demand - people don't know what they need, Facebook didn't fill the need it created a need (why not share my personal information and connect with others creating a virtual world - MySpace did a similar thing but Fb was better and only than it became a daily need for many people), Dropbox (why not sync my files across multiple machines - there were a lot of similar products back in the day but Dropbox created a really good product and that's when people realized they need that something like that), Instagram similar thing, Uber also, etc. And now in retrospective, because you are aware of the need you say they filled the need. No, they invented it, it existed in humans but we were unaware. But then they also filled it so it kinda depends how you look at it.
    3. 14:25 I agree about the control point, you should be active in your life and in control (as well as knowing when to let go of control), but Google actually did a good thing, Google improved their algorithm, those people were just misusing the algorithm. They were the bad part of the equation so they could have expected "the slap". It's not like RUclips will close your channel if you are actually providing solid value to the community, they need you as well as you need them. We would be living in the stone age, thanks to those people, if we didn't have some kind of systemic regulation, unfortunately.

    There's quite a few fallacies in the book. 1. Survivorship bias - "I made it doing A B and C and so anyone who does A B and C can also do it, the universe had no impact on this and luck doesn't exist". 2. False dichotomy - "You must be in the fast lane or the slow lane entirely" as if working a 9-5 to feed yourself and save a small bit while working on that gizmo in your garage isn't possible. 3. False comparison - "Look at all these awesome things about the 'fast lane' and compare them to all these negative aspects of the 'slow lane'" as if there's nothing good about having a 9-5 with health benefits and job security.

    Barrier to Entry, if there's a Gold Rush, don't go to the gold mines, instead sell them something they need in transit like a Horse.
    Another example, Someone invented light bulbs, so sell them wiring to light the bulbs (need)

    I love this book but I disagree with the barrier to entry thing. And actually, YOU also disagree with it. Because if we really wanted to follow his advice about barrier to entry, we would NOT be on youtube where literally ANYONE can get started. 5 year old kids are getting started lol. After 4 years of struggling with that chapter, then talking, eating and interacting with actual millionaires in 2017, I just have to disagree with that chapter and I'm okay with it.

      Positively Udo Unfortunately, barrier to entry is an important commandment to consider when creating a business...however some people have managed to break a commandment or 2 beat succeed against the odds but that is the exception. You have better odds of success if you go commandments the book shows you. But, the choice is yours. Many people don't want to wealthy or aren't willing to do what it takes and that's completely okay. ✌
