I was only lucky enough to see them live during the kickoff of the True North tour. It's a pity because, as you said, their live performance was amazing. And I've been a fan some 1994 right around stranger than fictions release. RFH was my first purchased album from them though
I Get the chills almost everytime i hear this song... specially at the last seconds of it. Black Flag, Minor Treath, Bad Religion, are my favorites bands of the genre...
Greg is smarter than all of his fans, but still loves them all. I've seen them many times and every show is grade A, from 1987-2011 and beyond for me. Greatest punk band ever!
I had this playing in the back ground and on another tab was reading some news story about Pope Francis and as I'm listening to Greg sing about "sinister rouge" I'm looking at a cardinal in the back ground with his red outfit and it finally clicked.
A nerd? For the love of...have you listened to their lyrics? Their *collective* intelligence and insights into society is so much of what makes them one of the best punk bands ever. If this is the result of the lead singer being a nerd, I wish MORE bands would start putting their heads in books instead of whatever's responsible for churning out countless bands who say and do nothing of merit.
Bad Religion whose songs take on an epic feel many many times. Aside from the fact that they are political in aspects, they are also truth bringers from a very basic level and a a pleasure to listen to.
Lol, he was actually a Life Science/Biology Professor at UCLA when I was there back in the 2004-2008 time frame. Not sure if he still is, but the guy really smart and a greater person to learn from.
aw yeah so I saw BR live a few months ago... their performance was nothing short of fuckin perfect! I honestly just can't get enough of this band. Bad Religion For LIFE!
I've seen them live more than once. Greg kicks ass and is a very entertaining frontman. Man just listening to it makes me want to jump and pump my fist in the air.
I went to the Edge fest 2007 in AZ and they rule! they played Infected, 21st centrey digital boy, Los Angeles is burning, supersonic, and Atomic Garden and lots of other songs too. so punk isn't just rock and roll... I had an awesome experience that taught the punk that I really am. Heaven Shedivy
THE MODERN WORLD REJECTS YOUR HAND! Love that lyric, about sums up my feelings towards religious leaders that want to control the world. Religion is a relic of an earlier age that I hope shall eventually wither and die.
that cd is a great way to start listening to them. You should listen to stranger than fiction next, then No Control. Those are generally considered to be their 3 best cds
I'm seeing them in November & I'm so FUCKING EXCITED I have tears in my eyes & my heart is thumping a mile a minute!! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
Man Greg's voice is fucking spot on. Even if people like the whiny new pop-punk singing voice (we the kings and the like), they gotta admit, those singers couldn't be this spot on live. Autotune = their crutch. Love this song.
Hell yeah he is. It's kind of funny looking how far he's come from playing bass in Minor Threat to tearing solos in Bad Religion. I also love how much fun it looks like they're having when Sinister Rouge starts.
It's easy to see how much fun Greg GRAFFIN, not Gaffin has fun with this song; just look at his face one minute into this performance haahah the guy almost starts cracking up in laughter! That all by itself is punk rock. That he really enjoys it and doesn't perceive it solely as work is a real testament to their (hopefully unstoppable) longevity. Impossible to fake Epic punk rock and what you're seeing here is Living History, people! So killing it still, after all these years; unreal.
Npoc is correct, no matter how much you want to disbelieve it, go check their official myspace, link is on their official website. "I think a lot of our fans are just angry nerds like us,"Gurewitz says afterwards. "And that's really who we write for. Being a humanist and an intellectual is about as rebellious as it gets these days." -BR myspace
I can't imagine any other voice backing these songs. All the bands that cover BR songs give me chills because the vocals just don't match the demeanor of the lyrics. It's like Greg has a professor's (which he is) voice that matches the content of the lyrics. It's a perfect fit. I grew up listening to this guy!
I was speaking about Sinister Rouge. I agree it isn't heavy metal per se, but it seems to me it's BR take on heavy metal. It begins with melodic singing, then metalesque drum roll at 1:11 followed by double kick drums and repetitive fast guitar picking, heavir riff than BR's usal at 1:21. 25s of normal BR then back to the heavy stuff at 1:47 , the list goes on... It isn't heavy metal nor your usual BR, it falls in between, and that's why I like it so much
I couldn't disagree more about Greg's voice. He's always been a favorite vocalist for me. His voice is smokey and ominous, PERFECT for their music. Singers don't always have to wail when they sing.
@laughingskull931 Yeah, I know BR and heavy metal well enough to know they're a melodic harcore band: that why I used the word "does" instead of "is". But come on, have you heard the song? This is not punk rock/hardcore, this one is pure heavy metal. This one song only. That's what I meant. I like it very much.
I've been backstage with them in Montreal when they played with Dropkick Murphys (DKM got me back there) -- Greg and the rest of the guys are awesome, definitely not drunken assholes.
@br00t4lpowermetalomg Yeah, it's BR for sure, above it all... Thanks for the support, I wonder why an inocuous comment like this brings so much hate! I guess "it's the way of the modern world", if you'd quote BR's Greg.
@MrBatManIsAPunk Heh, I almost forgot some people are decent human beings and use their brains. Hopefully others follow suit. Thank you, sir, for being a decent person and not persecuting me for having a different opinion.
Bad Religion thank you for waking me up before it was hip to be awake.
PUNKS NOT DEAD
SO TRUE
They are amazing live. These are true musicians whether you agree with their message or not.
why wouldn't anyone agree with a message against political corruption, war mongering and pedophilia?
I was only lucky enough to see them live during the kickoff of the True North tour. It's a pity because, as you said, their live performance was amazing. And I've been a fan some 1994 right around stranger than fictions release. RFH was my first purchased album from them though
I Get the chills almost everytime i hear this song... specially at the last seconds of it.
Black Flag, Minor Treath, Bad Religion, are my favorites bands of the genre...
brooks rules. one of the tightest punk drummers ever
Music Perfect!!! Bad Religion is a excellent punk rock band!
Zerocyde Dude thanks to you now I understand
Best voice in melodic punk IMO!
one of the few bands that can still get it right live... kicking ass almost 30 years later!
one of the coolest songs of bad religion
A nerd? For the love of...have you listened to their lyrics? Their *collective* intelligence and insights into society is so much of what makes them one of the best punk bands ever. If this is the result of the lead singer being a nerd, I wish MORE bands would start putting their heads in books instead of whatever's responsible for churning out countless bands who say and do nothing of merit.
one of my fav songs, such intense beats and riffs
Bad Religion whose songs take on an epic feel many many times. Aside from the fact that they are political in aspects, they are also truth bringers from a very basic level and a a pleasure to listen to.
Greg Graffin is the modern Joey Ramone he stands there with one simple movement and its still badass

their lyrics are brilliant, something to think about....
I was there. I just thinking about this show, and thats what prompted me to search for this.
What a trip.
I think Greg's voice is fine. And he makes up for it in vocabulary.
i love this song!
I've seen them live more than once. Greg kicks ass and is a very entertaining frontman.
Man just listening to it makes me want to jump and pump my fist in the air.
I went to the Edge fest 2007 in AZ and they rule! they played Infected, 21st centrey digital

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Autotune = their crutch.
Love this song.

Hell, as long as Bad Religion's not broken up I'm happy.
So fucking good...
Hell yeah he is. It's kind of funny looking how far he's come from playing bass in Minor Threat to tearing solos in Bad Religion.

does anyone else think that greg hetson has the coolest play style ever?
I couldn't disagree more about Greg's voice. He's always been a favorite vocalist for me. His voice is smokey and ominous, PERFECT for their music.

1:11 is when the awesomeness starts
Serves him right. We're also his creators.
I've been backstage with them in Montreal when they played with Dropkick Murphys (DKM got me back there) -- Greg and the rest of the guys are awesome, definitely not drunken assholes.
He's name is Greg Hetson if you don't know.
@br00t4lpowermetalomg Yeah, it's BR for sure, above it all... Thanks for the support, I wonder why an inocuous comment like this brings so much hate! I guess "it's the way of the modern world", if you'd quote BR's Greg.
Their vocalist is Bill Paxton
@MrBatManIsAPunk Heh, I almost forgot some people are decent human beings and use their brains. Hopefully others follow suit. Thank you, sir, for being a decent person and not persecuting me for having a different opinion.
