I love the back story, I always wanted to go after seeing Jamie Thomas skate it. But the buddies could never scrape up enough gas money to get us there from L.A to skate it back in the late '90's. Awesome job X-games hitting these iconic spots for events! Its got me still skating at 40yrs old.
@@TrollAlert-xv6qg Except he really did...didn't even need to watch the rest of the video I knew he won the moment he put that down in 8 tries you should realize how impressive that is
Went to school at Rincon. Also lived down the street to the left and up the hill from the roll up shots. Used to skate to school in the morning and hit it up after once everyone was gone (weekends were the best). Good times, pros always showing up. Me and the homies tagged back in the day too and would hit up the ledges in the front just because we knew it would get in mags and videos. Amazing comp.
That’s super wild … I remember watching Dylan back in 2014-16 watching how to tre flip tutorials in his backyard in Hawaii and he even had them steezy I should have known he was gonna make it big ! Good for him !
This makes me wanna go out and pull that trick that’s been in my head for years, or every time I look at a spot…. But then I remember I can’t actually do what these do 😂
yep it's funny how the old clips were better than anything in this contest. but then again they had as many tries as they needed to get the clip back then
didn't chris joslin 360 kick flip, blizzard flip this in the bones video friends section? it was before he got on plan b and was stuck in flow purgatory with mickey papa, greg myers and some other gnarly skaters
Skating is dope, don't get me wrong, but the level that the BMX riders have been bringing to this spot is INSANE, so many tricks that weren't even invented 5 years ago, they are throwing down at this spot and it just amazing how much BMX has/can progress just because of the capabilities of being on a bike and having so many options with 4 pegs, freecoasters, or no pegs... its BMX time to shine with the creativity and difficulty levels of the tricks riders are doing.
I think skating is just held back by the physics behind it. They pushed it to their limit years ago, but since then you can't really progress much in terms of how big or burly things are. That's not to say it's not still progressing technically or in terms of style, it is, but those seem like the only paths forward and even at that it's still slow moving.
skating is progressing at an insane rate thesedays, i don't know what you're talking about tbh. people are doing tricks that were once thought only possible in THPS and beyond. Comparing skateboard to bmx is comparing apples to oranges.
If you guys liked this I would highly recommend checking out the BMX event at the same spot. There is a channel called Our BMX where they filmed this contest in a behind the scenes format. It's much better than the actual broadcast because you get the inside look of some of the best riders in the world just casually changing between bangers. This event is legendary be it skating or BMX. By far the coolest thing X Games has done in a long time.
Ryan Decenzo is impacting to adjusting the flip tricks over the stairs gap and struggling to trying something different from changing the style of a better landing.
@@RKWDBMX It seems like Decenzo couldn't be able to separating the timing of switching over to the next trick since he tried to avoid the injury of landing instead of a difficult trick to judging on creativity, style, timing, holding on the tricks more longer, and efficiency??!
ive seen cole skate crazier stuff, this isnt the most scary thing he has skated. Thank you for showing some bails before lands. joslin backside 360 kickflip, switch bs 360, and fakie full cab over the rail and coles tre flip all stand out to me from this spot.
We're all related. Does it even matter? I don't see anyone getting oppressed in BMX. You must, to even mention it. Got what it takes? Send it ! Most people aren't interested in BMX, just cool people. You don't have to lie to kick it. It's all good here. Don't ruin it. I would call you a moron, but obviously, you've never heard of Courage Adams. High five, and a fist bump! Peace
Its crazy during the skate and bmx sessions the announcers just kept gushing on and on about how great and legendary the spot was. Meanwhile I'm thinking, this spot is hella overrated. Its too challenging. It would be better if there were easier obatacles to trick on as well. Then you could get people actually landing something. Instead what you got was four hours where hardly anyone landed a trick
Ryan doing the trick even if the contest is over is what skating is all about.
Not to mention he is still doing this at 37 no excuses real motivational
He is too sick
Ryan Decenzo has so many tricks at this spot
Yeah, he practically co-owns the place with Jamie
The old Zero team destroyed this spot !!! Legends!!!!
It's about time, X Games.
Been waiting, excited.
This was awesome! More iconic spots in the future please
Ryan like a sic skater he is shuts down the day,all killed it............

"That's was beautiful! This is skateboard!" ❤
switch big heel looked crispy!!! glad there was a different view!!
Alec absolutely deserved it! That’s the hardest trick of all
No he didn’t
True!

crazy watching this i used to hangout on those steps every day before school. i remember when some kid broke his feet jumping it with nothing lol.
Will there be more contests of this type? I hope!
There have been in the past, ( and meow that we are beyond covid) it would make sense to see more of these in the future.
This really good contest, everyone skated amazing
Best comp edit ever, respect 🙏
This just makes me love skateboarding even more than I already did.
Jamie Thomas back 180 to the Doors the End is perfectly perfect.
Skateboarding can change your life!
that jon allie kickflip is so so nice
Real street this year was amazing

At almost 40 still shredding decenzo is a GOAT.
MY CITY!
IM GLAD YALL MURKED DIS SPOT!
Is the full contest video posted somewhere??

Lovely format!
This was sick but I want Real Moto! Rahas part will be INSANE! Axells too. Also RIP Pat Casey.
Let’s gooooo X games!!!!!
5:29 absolutely blow my mind
Congrats Alec!!
This makes me wanna go out and pull that trick that’s been in my head for years, or every time I look at a spot…. But then I remember I can’t actually do what these do 😂
just hit it bro. close your eyes and hope for the best 😂
Safe decision
As soon as Alec did that I knew that was it, looked so dope
really cool idea to pay homage to street spots
Was in SD that day. Had no clue about this contest sadly
X games!!!! Yeeesss
They absolutely need to do a contest at Hollywood 16
Bringing out the heavy duty 💪
Alec Majerus with the comeback
The laser flip was the best trick he should have won with that easily
man gary is everywhere. must travel so much
billy marks nollie inward got no love, that’s the most memorable trick to me at this spot 😎
Wasn't that in the hilight package? There was something inward heel.
Late bigspin was the best
switch big heel from Art got bronze!?!? He got fuckin ROBBED
jon allie was so ahead of his time seeing him frontside flip over that like 15 years ago lol
Very true, his thrasher kf back lip cover is the best.
yep it's funny how the old clips were better than anything in this contest. but then again they had as many tries as they needed to get the clip back then
just shows how difficult skateboarding is, the progession off skating over that last 20 years really hasnt changed like in other action sports
It’s crazy Braden didn’t podium with a kickflip krook
Nice event but forget Steve Berra Back Lup( Yeah right )
Kairi's big spin was poetic
Cool, that Jamie Thomas commentary this. Because he started the Rincon craziness with his ollie melon grab over the rail gab❣️
Great contest, similar to Thrasher’s Bust or Bail, some spots are sacred but can still play host to sessions if you grease some palms 😉
Definitely not the gnarliest street contest lol but that was sick
Seems like the announcer has been humbled some after the recent X games. He was horrible. He is getting better.
Arts switch big heel should’ve got him 2nd place
Yeees Ryan!
Feels so weird seeing nyjah grown up
Man this makes me wanna be in a comp ❤
Switch back 3 is nuts
Art Cordova 🔥
Every trick that went down was a black hammer.
1st place trick was well above the others in my mind, well deserved.
I feel like the switch big heel should’ve made podium at least
Ryan doing a suicide kickflip lip after the contest ended. So so sick
S/O Art, put it down fasho 🔥
I knew the kickflip front nose grind in 8 tries was going to win the moment he put it down there's just no denying how impressive that is
Rip Phelps! Bust or bail!!!!
When's the street ?
didn't chris joslin 360 kick flip, blizzard flip this in the bones video friends section? it was before he got on plan b and was stuck in flow purgatory with mickey papa, greg myers and some other gnarly skaters
IMO this spot is way harder than wallenburg- especially on the body impact
decenzo-pilled
Listening to this commentary makes me wanna quit skating, we need Phelps back ASAP
i sadly dont think phelps will be returning anytime soon...
we'll be meeting him
@@jackboa22 My bet is that he and Jeff Phillips have already reincarnated as one of those kickflip-McTwisting super babies
3:14 Is that really from Dying to Live? I watched that video everyday and I don’t remember Ryan Smith frontside flipping that.
I would’ve broken my ankles on the first try
Wasn't this on yesterday
megalithic banger, reminds me of Cusco for size, better quality video fantastic comp stay knee strong fellow skaters Lol.

Hate to say it, but BMX, blading, and scooters are the new undergrounds sports. Skateboarding is mainstream.

Jamie Thomas was the reason I go skateboarding
Man the zero team tore up this place in the early days definitely left there mark on this spot 💀
Why can't dylan close his mouth
Did Peter Smolik ever skate this spot?
I live here what the heck 😂
ole Jos broke hims phoot
Art Cordova should’ve gotten 2nd

5:32 thats alot of hair
takeaway is how hairy dylan jaeb's chest is
SW back 3???? 😵😵😵
hard to watch tbh, don't think it works to contest this. worth a try but yeah
why is Logan Paul on the thumbnail
gary is just a sal masakayla jr
Gnarly
Dudes put their bodies on the line, just to win a worthless necklace. Skate cuIture is ridiculous
It’s the X Games and they have to skate on board boards over grass….
Gary is cool, that other dude is annoying tho

@sr-kt9ml It’s called “Real Street” for a reason. This is what street skating is. Hours and hours of a session spent on that one trick.
Did everyone forget about the back lip by steve Berra back in 1998
Bro i had to pause this video what tha!!
