Definitely go up a size. I'm 9.5, ordered 10 and still tight.. I don't have the wide option in my country so returned it.. I stick to my Mach 5 and DN2.. I'll try Rebel v4 instead

Great review! One of the reasons why Hoka reduced the sizing for a more truer to size fit was so that the hallux (big toe) could hang over the rocker portion of the shoe more with a greater roll-over sensation during quicker paces when most people tend to run on their toes more (unless your predominantly a forefoot striker that is). The flexor hallicus longus which sits over top of the rocker works in conjunction with the gastrocnemius to provide plantar-flexion as well as additional force during toe off. Hence combined with the lower drop and shorter fit, the Mach 6 provides the feeling of a more traditional speed shoe vs the Mach 5. Although the problem I guess lies in stability where if you're feet are cramped this limits the ability of the hallicus longus to provide stability and support which may give some people arch issues or plantar fasciitis in some cases. I did hear that a lot of people have had great results with the wider version of this model so that might work better for you in this case. Best of luck!

Randomly stumbled across your channel and I couldn't agree more about the Mach 6. Even just trying it on in the store it felt tight in the mid foot. I am interested in the new Skyflow coming out soon though! Great review - I'm from Illinois too! 🙌

I’m a 9.5, and they felt like an 8. Size 10 corrected the length but the toe box was just as tight. So I decided to forget about this shoe and ordered Rebel V4 instead

This shoe really works for me, however, it fits unlike any other Hoka I have ever worn. More sock like than shoe.

That's not a standard eva foam. It's a supercritical eva. I have the Mach 5 also. Midsole is an improvement.

They have a wide version. Not necessary to go a half size up if the wide version is available to you.

I didn't see the wide version available (yet), but will be on the look out for this!

@@FilipLatochaRunning i’ve actually tried it on. So it’s definitely available. I happened to try it on at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

@@FilipLatochaRunning I just went to the Hoka website and there’s clearly a spot for the wide version. Five different colors.

I can't believe with the Mach 5, a best seller, and one of the best and original shoes on the market, how at Hoka, they gave us this bland and boring shoe..... they've gone from a BMW M5 to a Toyota Camry Hybrid. And they have made it too high..... 8 whopping mm difference. Who ever did this at Hoka should be fired 😮😊

M5 is a heavy POS, so poor example but I get your point
