Meccano got me interested in Engineering, so what was marketed as an "Educational toy" provided a very interesting (and comfortably lucrative) career choice . . . . . .
Whats funny is *steel tech* was a real line of toys in the early 90s. I had gotten one as a kid and it was cool, came in a tool suit case looking thing with a battery powered screw driver, and a lift to put your builds on (ahhh the memory's)
Oh God.I laughed so much at the text on the box I spewed snot and spit and tears and was rendered temporarily blind while also in literal blinding pain.
I'm sure somebody already mentioned this down below, but that looks similar to an Erector set. ...actually, I just looked on Wikipedia and it turns out that is the US brand name for Meccano. I learned something new today.
Here in America, those were called "erector sets". And with a name like that, they sold as well as you'd expect. "Hey Billy, you wanna go to the movies Friday?" "Nah, I'm gonna play with my erector set" *Cue massive laughter and pointing of fingers*
Too bad the wheels don't work. Too many kids these days have no idea what the fuck to do with a wrench, it's sad. There should be a mandatory class similar to shop, but you just learn how to fix broken shit so we don't just throw stuff, and by association our money; resources; and environment, away.
I had 8 or 9 sets of these things. Each with different shaped parts...didnt build any of the sets, just build things like a remote caddy, a cellphone holder, and stuff for everyday life
I recommend the Panasonic Lumix G or GF or GH seriese as i have a Lumix G2 and it is absolutly wonderful for video, and also you could invest in a mounted microphone as well which is compatable with the said ALR's. sorry for my typo's and multiple posts; touch-typing on an iPad is dire.
Ending the video on a blurred image and when you're about to kill your camera....that's really scary! :D BTW, there were a series of construction toys called Steel-Tech, I remember seeing ads for them (one I have on video I believe), they were sold during 1995-1996.
Mechano sounds like the metal version of an Erector Set. Not sure which one was the original version, but since the Erector Set was plastic I will assume it came second.
When I was little I got an erector set that made a sailboat. Since it was made of metal and couldn't float, which negates the whole point of a toy boat, I took it apart and made it into a sword. After a week of playing with the sword, one day I was hitting it against a tree pretending I was fighting an evil knight or something and the metal that made the blade got bent. I bent it back and it broke off down the middle making an actual sharp blade. That is when things got interesting.
Who wrote the things on the box?Someone in China who has been in England/America/Other English speaking place once or twice and then went on to make this thing?
jeez, what did your camera try to focus on? a microbe on the lense? :O anywho, i think id have some fun with this. not by playing with it but just by building it :P it has quite a lot of parts and it doesnt look THAT bad. and when it sits on my shelf it also doesnt need working wheels :P
I'm looking at the misspelled "kit" contemplating the "j" key in between "h" and "k". Not saying it's not possible, it's just unusual to miss by 2 keys.
The Swedish one says: "Not suitable for children 8 years due to Small parts." They didn't bother to make proper åäö's, they forgot one word and the S in "Sma" should be lower case, but I'm still rather impressed! A lot better than expected anyway.
Good doctor, the video game "The Binding of Isaac" features a power up called the sad onion that looks just like the warning icon. I didn't know if you were aware of that.
my grandpa gave me a big metal box full of meccano pieces from the 50s when i was a kid, thousands of hours of fun while dodging tetanus
Meccano got me interested in Engineering, so what was marketed as an "Educational toy" provided a very interesting (and comfortably lucrative) career choice . . . . . .
Who's Tet, and whys he trying to attack you with his anus?

Ashens did not take care to make sure that finger, hair or cloth did not get trapped in the paoduct.
In his defense, it DID say 0-8 on the back, so he should have been supervised...
"Accidental Hurts" is the best Engrish EVER
Isn't he related to John Hurts?
false advertising, it didn't assemble itself
You assemble it yourself.. holyshit you are stupid :p
StupidLlamaGaming duno who's stupid here, but I'd bet it's you, because you obviously know shit'bout jokes, do you? ohwell *facepalm*
StupidLlamaGaming And the award for stupid goes to...

I will never get tired of listening to Ashens reading out Engrish. Hilarious stuff.
Always enjoy these videos, one of my favourite channels to check out!

In GLORIOUS AMERICA they're called "Erector".
HinataChan30 Giggitty

"Experience the joy of participate in youself"? You mean masturbation?
Well, you do it by hand, so, yeah...
I thought the same thing! XD I'm surprised ashens didn't mention that!
You make baby Jesus cry!
I'm sure somebody already mentioned this down below, but that looks similar to an Erector set.

He's the perfect person for reviews on things like these!
I had Mechano when I was younger! ...I just got frustrated with it because it was too difficult to put together, though x3
Seeing comments like this is a time capsule, back when people used "x3" unironically.
Funny how that trend has returned with the discord femboys.
@@Prodawg it never fell out of favour in some furry circles though

couldnt agree more!! :)
We have an Auto Tech class at my school where they teach you how to fix cars. Does that count?
"Similar to shop"
you have shopping classes?
Shop is the common US name for classes that involve wood or metal working.
"Too many kids these days have no idea what the fuck to do with a wrench"
*raises imaginary Sunglasses*
Really... Oh god...
A 0-8 SAD ONION?! BAH! IT WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN ME!
In the US it's known as an Erector's Set...
+TheIronNinja The danger of swallowing must have whole other implications with those. lol
The...."OuUU've" bit made me me laugh more than i should of XD Also...the "get to work and have fun...OooUUUuww" XD
I had some Steel Tec sets when I was a kid Hills Department Store used to sell them when it was in business.
The engrish on these packages is always awesome
Experience delight of participate in youself - This just made my week.
I've got one of these. The best part is the screwdriver. Nice, small and useful.
This was the most hilarious video I've ever seen ashens do
The pigeon english just makes my day......so funny. Well done sir. Thanks!
I had 8 or 9 sets of these things. Each with different shaped parts...didnt build any of the sets, just build things like a remote caddy, a cellphone holder, and stuff for everyday life
the warning on the bottom says ComponenRs. Surpised he didn't catch that.
This was one of your best reviews, too bad it's so short

Last time I experienced the delight of participating in myself, my mom walked in a d told me I was making baby Jesus cry.
Assembled parts manual, rig it oneself! Construct fantastic models with your assembling kit! bing! :D
After watching numerous Ashens videos, I now say "hello" with the Ashens logo at the beginning. Does anyone else?
6:32 Best car noise ever.
In my country, Mecano was actually called Erector (giggle). Not sure if it was a whole different brand or just a rename.
THANK YOU! I was running out of things to watch, I even came across the Weird section of RUclips.
"Never put into the mouth to avoid" cracks me up so bad
@GiantGenesse Yes, Whatever happened to that caterpillar who sang obscure beatles songs? I remember he sang "Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite!"
Ah, the rare Naught-to-Eight Sad Onion. Such magnificent creatures.
My name is Johnny. I am 23-year-old.
I would have loved this 13 years ago :(
Ending the video on a blurred image and when you're about to kill your camera....that's really scary! :D BTW, there were a series of construction toys called Steel-Tech, I remember seeing ads for them (one I have on video I believe), they were sold during 1995-1996.
poor boby
That Cat Steven's reference xD I guess 99% of viewers didn't get it
#yusufislam
He literally says Cat Stevens. You might underestimate his viewers
The thumnail for this video looks like Ashens is reviewing a Tech Deck!
The US brand for these is "Erector Sets" because we like our construction toys with a bit of innuendo.
there was a construction toy in the US called Steel-Tec if i am remembering right, very similar to Erector/Meccano, wonder if thats why they say that

The writing on the back was interesting...each line began with a capital letter suggesting they'd written it in Word and had pressed enter each time.
Participating in oneself is always good fun.
That back thing is to keep it of the side of the tracks, which is not included.
never change man, never change
Who wrote the things on the box?Someone in China who has been in England/America/Other English speaking place once or twice and then went on to make this thing?
Google translate vomited on a paper, then twats farted it onto the box
Holy, that sounds like how The ShitBoxOne was made!
by god this new channel got partnership fast
Mother:*knock* knock* *knock* "what's going on in there, son?"

Oh fuck. Watching this in half speed is fucking hilarious!!! I am going to try it with more Ashens videos.
"8 +....ooooohhhhh…...iiiisssss verrrrrrryyyyy hhhiiiiiiiggghhhhhh………" LMAO
No, not if little Johnny likes it, but if little Boby likes it!
I have one of these (the car) but it's a bit differently colored and the package is different.
when he said "uou ve" i couldn't stop laughing for approximately a full 60 minutes
Ah, the competitor to the disturbingly named 'Erector' series of building kits. :-)
jeez, what did your camera try to focus on? a microbe on the lense? :O
anywho, i think id have some fun with this. not by playing with it but just by building it :P it has quite a lot of parts and it doesnt look THAT bad. and when it sits on my shelf it also doesnt need working wheels :P
Aw yeah, something I've always been looking fo- ARGH THE SHARDS HAVE PIERCED MY FLESH, MOTHER.
I'm looking at the misspelled "kit" contemplating the "j" key in between "h" and "k". Not saying it's not possible, it's just unusual to miss by 2 keys.
come now, you couldn't expect a product like that to work. itd be too good to be true.
In the states they are called "erector sets"

If you're looking for a panasonic, you should get a lumix GH2.
Currently, it's the best DSLR, quality wise.
Well, technically it's not a DSLR.
Dear Mr. Ashens. If it weren't for Meccano, there wouldn't be a British Empire.
The Swedish one says: "Not suitable for children 8 years due to Small parts."
They didn't bother to make proper åäö's, they forgot one word and the S in "Sma" should be lower case, but I'm still rather impressed! A lot better than expected anyway.
These were great~
I expierenced delight of participating myself since I was 8.
i have since I was 3
@citizenhal I can assure you that Panasonic do not make any Single Lens Reflex cameras. Yes, they are interchangable lens, but they are NOT SLR.
the binding of issac made a sad onion reference
We had Erector sets. Well they did, I was poor so I could only get one toy. Always opted for transformers.
at my house, we have plastic Meccano.
By "house" do you mean asylum for the criminally insane?
+Alex R kek
The boxes are better the the product, just for the entertainment of the hilarious misspellings! xD
I remember clear as a bell when I was 96 months!
I was worried Ashen might swallow tiny parts. Thank china for the sad onion!
Good doctor, the video game "The Binding of Isaac" features a power up called the sad onion that looks just like the warning icon. I didn't know if you were aware of that.
Did anyone notice that vital, ever-present part of Meccano kits? The three screws left over when you've finished? :D
accidental hurts are worst hurts
I'm glad he's reading it out.I can't read, and didn't understand the humor in poor english till he pointed it out.

does poundland have any good products? they must have some, how else could they still be around?
Am I correct in assuming that Poundland is basically the UK's Chinese Embassy?
I've seen the extremely rare and far-between 0-14 sad onions. I am serious. It was on an inflatable toy.
The Cat Stevens joke was cute. is he still around btw??
