The insanely expensive games on steam are actually a pretty common attempt at money laundering through steam, no one is intended to buy them except for the "developer" themselves. Sure they might get one or two joke purchases from curious people but it's not expected of people.
I've actually seen a video covering this game in detail and finding out where the cover image is from. It's literally just a cover image for a premade asset pack with a chattering teeth toy slapped onto the clown's head. Look behind the teeth and you can still see the clown there lol
I've seen those monsters in the first game before! They're models you can buy to put in your games, animated series, ect. I think they were meant to be creepy toys or something.

200 hundred dollars for a mascot horror is nuts. You know what else is a nut? Preston from Preston's Hourglass, and its a free game, you should play it
steam isn't the only one, the amount of bait shovelware on the switch is absolutely insane, whilst not as expensive, $30+aud ($20+usd) for a freaking solitaire mahjong or anime slide puzzle game is still absolutely disgusting (though it usually ends up around $3(aud) for the first 2 weeks, then like 3 weeks later they'll re-release the game.), and the titles don't even change, they just slap on a new edition in the title, make minor adjustments to the screenshots and call it a day. Not sure if these companies are still going, but when i was actively playing my switch, they released a new edition of their games (2 main companies) 1 every 3-4 weeks for at least 6 months (not sure if they're still going)
What a lot of these developers do is release a game for a few dollars, buy a few copies to get a very positive rating, then up the price to a something so high that nobody would purchase it on steam. Then they get steam keys to sell to resale sites for bundles like "very positive game guaranteed" mystery bundles. If someone gets it and plays it, they would probably leave a negative review, but reviews from steam keys don't change the percentage so as long as nobody buys the game for full price they keep the rating.
So, I got a brand new computer that can run spec heavy games, and I still have an idea for a Mascot Horror game. I just need to figure out how to use C# in Godot, how to 3D model a PS1 style creature, and tweak the FPS template controls to where it feels like how I would envision the movement be. Oh, and to figure out how the $@#! do I recreate the RE4 inventory, since that is part of the idea.
Almost forgot, I also need a authentic Ps1 Dualshock controller just so I could get a authentic feel with what I'm trying to do with the concept. Heck, make it have controller + mouse as some Ps1 games allow you to do that.
