    Tips to preserve/build collagen:
    1. Use sunscreen every single day
    2. Use a topical retinoid at night applied to clean, dry skin (except when pregnant or breast feeding) & then apply a moisturizer on top
    3. Use a silk pillowcase
    4. Use a beauty pillow, like Sleep and Glow
    5. Prioritize sleep - at least 7 hours each night
    6. Exercise
    7. Diet - protein rich and well balanced
    8. Collagen supplements - the data is mixed (I personally use Vital Proteins unflavored collagen peptides daily mixed in my coffee); Dr. Sugai does not routinely recommend to his patients
    9. Apply Vitamin C serum in the morning (antioxidant); apply your moisturizer & sunscreen on top (such as LRP mineral)

I am almost 39. I have been using Retin-a, glycolic acid and sunscreen religiously and consistently , since I was 20. I have basically preserved my skin over the last 20 years. I have not a single wrinkle and am told I still look in my early 20’s.
To the younger people reading this... start when you’re young, don’t wait until you’re in the 30’s to take skin care seriously

@@nadinenaveena5424 I was getting in-office glycolic acid treatments at a medical clinic starting at 20. They are called “glycolic acid fruit peels” . I used to get them done once every 3 months, and where I live, in Victoria Bc it cost about 90$ per treatment.
Over the last 4 yrs, I have learned through RUclips how to do it myself 🙌 . In my late 30’s, my skin requires a bit more maintenance, but I typically use glycolic acid once every 3 weeks. It really depends on how old u are, how much or how little sun damage one has. I do peels not to correct damage, but to keep my skin preserved 🙏

Thank you, Doc, your présentions are a perfectly balanced combination of clinical/ medical / ingredient specific information and honest product reviews and recommendations. Thank you also for always including affordable yet efficacious options. Last evening, per one of your precious videos / reviews I purchased a trial size of Olay retinol 24 moisturizer ( purple jar ) to alternate with my rx tretinoin and I am instantly in love with the texture / way this feels on my skin. I also purchased Mae Love Glowmaker vitamin C serum a few months ago but unfortunately it oxidized much sooner than I could use it. After this video/ review tomorrow I’m going to purchase Naturiium. I am 58 and recently just incorporated vitamin C serum‘s within the last six months I have seen a huge difference/improvement in the overall appearance of my skin and as always thank you so much for your Sunscreen reviews/ recommendations - the most vital of all products/ prevention… oh how I wish I could turn back time…my generation sadly just did not use sunscreen or at least I didn’t - until my 40’s 😱 when I was a pharmaceutical rep and begin calling on dermatologists - and sadly saw/heard some horrific cases of skin cancer and that’s so pretty results of Mohs surgery- an eye opener for sure. I recently answered a question if you could go back and tell your younger self one piece of advice with regard to your help what would it be my answer was broad spectrum SPF daily, head to toe / rain or shine.
I am a now better informed skin care / product junkie but none of these amazing antioxidants/products are worth using if not using sunscreen every single day. Thank you for reiterating that and for all of your amazing content. Truly a pleasure to watch- and also thanks for reiterating the importance of 7 hours of sleep preferably uninterrupted - I went to bed at 11:30 is -I’m on PStT Northern California / SF so still a few hours of that beautiful wee hour peacefulness / stillness so I’m going back to sleep until sunrise. ✌️😴 🤙

Dr. Sugai thank you for the informative video. I agree with your recommendation of using vitamin C daily in the morning. I’ve been using Skin Ceuticals for a few years now and never thought of using any other product. I know that it’s pricey but well worth the investment in the long run. I stopped purchasing skin care products from Department stores (also super pricey) after an esthetician’s recommendations. In the summer months, I sometimes omit moisturizer and only apply Vit. C followed with sunscreen. This works well for my combination skin.

Just came across your channel. Very informative. I look forward to future videos on collagen supplementation. I've been using the Vital Proteins powder in my lattes for about 6 months. Love the stuff. Is it working? Who knows. My skin is looking much better, but who's to say why. I've been using my Retin A consistently for over a year. I just recently had a chemical peel by my derm. I apply and reapply my physical sunscreen daily. All things considered, I'm happy with how things are progressing (I'm in my 60s).

When I attended Cosmetology school waaaay back in the last century, I met a gorgeous graduating student whom had gotten "Scotch Tape eyes" or "double eyes".
She is/was (if the latter, R.I.P. luv) of Viet heritage and her blepharoplasty looked amazing to me. Almost natural... but not quite.
(And to this day, I don't have enough hands to count on, too many Asian women that I encounter on the daily have had this procedure done. It's very obvious to me and like fake eyelashes worn in the daytime , "Gurrrrl! You ain't foolin' me!")
But what she told me then, in which I've kept in mind all of these years later is that, as Asians, trust Asian doctors, surgeons, dermatologist/skin care specialists over other ethnicities as they understand our bone structures and skin types and will provide/dispense appropriate surgical/skin care routines that are strictly for our ethnicities.
    So, a well deserved 🤙and ✌

What kind of retinol should I be using for my age?? I'm 65 years old. I don't use any retinol at all. I use eye cream from Loreal for women over 55 years old. So far, it works great!! I only started using an eye cream in my 30's. I never used sunscreen in my 20's. I wish I did!! No one said anything about skin cancer back then. Now, they do. I went to a dermatologist a few years ago for a skin check. She told me that the brown spots on my face are freckles. It's the pigment coming out in my skin. I have olive skin. I get a tan every summer living down here in Houston. It's hot and very humid most of the year. I wear the Neutogena sunscreen for the face with an SPF of 55. That's what the dermatologist told me to do. I drink a lot of water, too.

Maybe a video about sunscreens available in Europe? Like lrp, avene, dr.sam, korean sunscreens. Wish I had an opportunity to try MD SolarSciences or EltaMD...

You could try and checkout channels based in the UK/Europe: Dr Sam Bunting, Dr Sarah Tonks, Glow by Ramon, DrLiv, Doctor Anne, Cyrille Laurent, Caroline Hirons, etc.

Dr sugain Do I have to apply moisturizer after rentiol or just put retinol without moisturizer is fine as well?because I thought the rapid wrink cream was not a serums so it already has the moisturizer fucation inside. Thanks

Hi! You don’t have to but I do to reduce chances of dryness/irritation esp with prescription retinoids. I have a text overlay at 5:15 of the video that answers your q about the neutrogena rwr specifically- you def don’t have to moisturize after this one.

I would recommend closing your eyes when you are applying since it is very irritating if it gets in the ayes, and apply it slowly so you get it applied uniformly.
