John Taffer is a major player in the bar and hospitality industry with over 40 yrs experience working in, managing, and owning bars. In 1989, he patented an apparatus and method for selecting and playing music. Taffer is credited with creating the NFL Sunday Ticket pay programming package, which was launched in 1994. In 2010, he was appointed as president of the Nightclub and Bar Media Group which is responsible for Nightclub & Bar Magazine as well as the annual Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show. He was one of the first six inductees in the Nightclub Hall of Fame. In November 2014, Taffer developed BarHQ, an all-inclusive bar and nightclub management app.
Jon Taffer started his bar career as a Bouncer at LA's legendary music venue, The Troubadour. Eventually he became Head of Secruity, then became the General Manager. As someone mentioned earlier, he created the "NFL Sunday Ticket" which was used by the NFL to sell individual games to customers, including bars. Then he created a bar consulting firm.
That last guy is a monster. There are lots of people who think owning bars or restaurants is a license to act out. Did you notice how tired the place itself looked? I don't think he's put any money back into the business for a long time. Also, if someone starts throwing glasses around and shouting, I'd leave immediately.
I love Bar Rescue, at first it was a show that had the most hopeless bars you knew were going to fail no matter what, but after Covid he basically went around saving a bunch of bars that were doing well before. Plus it's fun to watch how crazy some of these owners are.
The host looks like a mob guy. Imagine him walking up to you in a bar, shaking your hand, and saying "So I've been watching you abuse your employees." Be scared shitless if you didn't know who he was.
I remember one episode were Jon Taffer helps a bar owner that had a pirate themed bar and when Jon fixed up the bar it started to make money again but the owner's ego was so huge she went and got rid of everything Jon fixed and brought back the pirate theme.
That pirate episode is one of the few where I though Taffer went too far. He took it from goofy pirate crap straight to buttoned down corporate, even named it The Corporate. It needed a big change to non-pirate but there was NO way those people were going to succeed trying to be a super straight laced corporate bar. It also had that owner/husband named Juciano. Juice-ee-ahhn-oh. That is a fckin creepy name.
@@mneugent7658 I agree, it was too much of a change for those people. When I watched that episode I actually thought he was joking with them and would reveal a more relaxed concept, but he never did.
That last owner, John’s team did an amazing overall on that bar and it was busy for a few days then the owner canned some of the better staff and switched back to the old theme and unsurprisingly it failed.
As for why they'd act this dumb on camera; the show's crew set up the cameras a week or so before Jon arrives. After a few days a lot of the staff just forget about the cameras and go back to their "default" mode.
Running a bar is not just a business; it's a science. No one knows more about bar science than Jon Taffer. This year, sixty-five-hundred failing bars nationwide will close their doors for good. If things don't change soon, [insert bar name] in [insert location] will become just another statistic.
I don't believe in a Hell, but if it does exist...I'm pretty sure it's just like regular daily life...except John Taffer follows you around 24/7 screaming at you.
I worked as a bar maid after my already full time day job & I was serving the owners sometimes more than the patrons. The customers would help me restock the bar at closing & clean glassware if I put music on the jukebox & gave them a couple of free scooners of draught. Total dive bar but the owners did zero & made bank !!!
If I remember right about the last bar it was a legendary bar in Vagas back in the 50s through 70s and that guy purchased it and turned it into a gay bar. Then ran it into the ground. Jon did a huge makeover on it and kept it as a gay bar but made it attractive to women. It started making money again but then that owner changed everything back and he might have lost the bar. Not sure about that last part. One good thing about Taffer is that if he feels the staff need to leave he will use his connections and help them find work at other bars in the area to get out of those abusive environments.
The owners ask Bar Rescue to come to their place. So there are no hidden cameras unless the production wants to see what really happens when they think they are not being filmed. But the owner knows why they are there to fix their business. A lot of it is played up for the camera but there are some really bad business owners out there. The show Daz is trying to remember is Hotel Impossible with Anthony Melchiorri. I have seen every episode of both shows. They are great.
That last guy at the end, Paul, died earlier this year. That bar rescue failed and he closed it days after relaunch and it was bulldozed shortly after.
That's like that show I mentioned, Mystery Diners, except that's where employees are screwing over bar and restaurant owners. People like this, that think they're superior because they're owners, not the low life's they get their money from, reminds me of landlords who take the "lord" part too serious.
If I’m not mistaken, in certain states in the USA, you’re not allowed to drink on the job if you’re a bartender. If you’re a bar owner, that’s a different story lol.
Heavy drinking or alcoholism is prevalent in police officers. Often times a result of the stress and having to deal with things they see on a daily basis.
Lads ya need to react to mark rober if u haven’t already, the guy used to work at NASA and now is a massive RUclipsr who makes some bloody mad things, he does 1 vid a month and works on them for ages
If somebody followed us all around with a camera all night as we got drunk and made us watch it the next day we'd all be mortified and vow never to drink again, or at least until next Friday.
That last one was very disturbing. How is he not in jail? Dave is right and it should be no different from if he ripped the shirt off a girl. Disgraceful.
Are these shows real??? Man this looks super fake First of all no person would behave like this in front of camera. And if they collected all this footage and released it after than we can say it is somewhat true but it this show is like multiple seasons than how come people still act this way in front of camera???
I've witnessed this sh*t first hand. My family owned a bar and my entire family took advantage of my aunt to hang out and drink free for years until it was run into the ground. It was successful otherwise
People don't actually believe this is real right? It's like watching wrestling.. Every show goes the exact same as kitchen nightmares.. Rude, careless and owes allot of money.. Then this lad or Ramsey comes in and after abit of resistance they eventually come to an emotional understanding.. The formula for these shows are written they aren't real!

Wow didn't know the part about him creating NFL Sunday Ticket, makes sense given his role in the bar industry but damn!
I did not know that Jon Taffer is a head of security before he is a bar manager of Bar Rescue. : 0

I stopped eating at most bars after watching that show.

That unfortunately happens often on that show. Including the last bar in this compilation.

Hotel Impossible with Anthony Melchiorri.
