      @@48pluto Everyone is different. Some people don't have that time to walk 5 miles or be active at all. It's not fair to say it's common sense, if you don't have the option. Calorie counting helps. Substitutions for slightly lower calorie options help. Slightly reducing portion sizes and or splitting up meals can help. It's a journey and not a quick fix.
      In most cases, fighting the feeling of being hungry, is the bigger struggle. Aside from drinking black coffee, most want to stay away from other appetite suppressants. The option that made the rounds, might be way out of normal people's price point. And I highly oppose the idea of trying to make it yourself.

    One note: Sugar doesn't have alot of calories. It has the same amount of calories as protein (4kcal/g), while fat has ALOT (9kcal/g). But sugar is much less satiating and also it doesn't keep you full nearly as long as protein, due to a number of factors. That is one of the reason why you want to avoid sugar, not because of the amount of kalories but because it's easier to overeat.

    The difference in calories between chicken and steak is rather trivial assuming the rest of your diet is low in sugars and junk you have easily used steak to accomplish the same results.

    • @borderlandsveteran
      @borderlandsveteran 2 месяца назад +18

      Not true. While the calories between 4oz of chicken breast, and 4 Oz of sirloin steak is only about 40 calories. (Larger difference with fattier cuts of beef.) the amount of fat and protein is wildly different. If you are losing weight your body is already flooding your liver with fats. Because you are in a calorie deficit your body must burn your body fat, and that all goes into the liver, which is already struggling for overweight people. So low fat is key, not to overtax your liver. And chicken has 10 less grams of fat per serving. Nevermind that Guga is weight training and working on building muscle. And you need protein for that. Chicken breast has 11 more grams of protein per serving than a sirloin steak would. Also that extra 40 calories difference can go a long way in vegetable sides to help get more nutrients, and stay full longer.

    • @LimitedState
      @LimitedState 2 месяца назад +5

      @@borderlandsveteran I beg to differ, this wasn't an opinion. I literally lost 90lbs last year doing exactly what I said. Not only that but I was mainly eating steak and fruit.. So you might think you have the data and numbers on it but you don't because I'm living proof to the opposite. I think the culprit is a misunderstanding of fat intake and content in the liver that causes the confusion. ?

    • @remnant24
      @remnant24 2 месяца назад +1

      @@borderlandsveteran Fat has accounted for nearly half our macro intake for millions of years of evolution, more than protein. The liver is a champ at processing fat and it will take a lot more than that to "overtax it" (barring some kind of liver condition). This is especially true of animal fat, which the digestive system is highly efficient at deriving nutrients from unlike carbs. When you consume more calories than your body needs, the excess energy is stored in the body as fat regardless of the macro type, so the OP's statement is very much correct.

    • @borderlandsveteran
      @borderlandsveteran 2 месяца назад +7

      @@remnant24 you speak of healthy people, not overweight people. And a lot of overweight people have problems with fatty livers. But I see you completely ignored the part of about Guga weightlifting and how Chicken has 11 more grams of protein per serving over beef. But go off.

    • @borderlandsveteran
      @borderlandsveteran 2 месяца назад +6

      @@LimitedState at no point did I say you couldn’t lose weight, I see you purposely misconstruing my reply. I said that it is not true that steak can be substituted and get the exact same results. You have to adjust your diet to accommodate steak because it’s got significantly less grams of protein, and much higher fat. Not everyone’s weight loss journey is the same, and you can’t just copy paste your results onto another. Someone who is trying to build muscle like Guga explicitly stated he was in his video is going to want to reach for chicken breast which is 79% protein. Which is much much higher than steak. It just is. Plain numbers. 37% more protein over steak for the same portion. If you don’t consume enough protein while losing weight your body canabalizes your muscles. For the amount of calories, (40 less than steak) Guga gets 37% more protein. And protein not only builds muscle through weight loss, but it keeps you full longer, so you don’t have as many cravings. You would have to adjust your steak diet to either consume more steak, or take supplements, or eat other foods (more calories) to supplement the diminished protein content. It’s just not a plain, “sub it out, it’s just as good situation.”

    Looking good, sir.
    Might I suggest looking into tagine. While the term now include the dishes classically cooked in one, the conical Moroccan slow cooker brings juicy to a new level. Give your meat a sear; then add diced onion. To this add spices, longer cooking veggies, and liquid. At the end, add your fast cooking veggies. Done right, the meat will be succulent due to the unique braise/steam cook while the veggies will be tender or crisp and the remainder cooked into an incredible sauce.

    Ive always been a chicken lover, ive found the beat way to make chicken breast is to pan sear in a good bit of olive oil, once bith sides are seared put a little water in and cover it to steam (carefully, oil and water and all that) then at about 163 or 165°F set on a cutting board, pour over the excess oil, and cover for about 5-8 minutes. If done right it will be dripping with juice when you cut into it.

      @Jcewazhere all I've done is calorie deficit. I (was - haven't been consistent lately, but maintaing at 209) eat around 1500 calories a day. It consists of a lighter snack / small meal in the middle of the day, and a feast for dinner! I've been eating Chinese take out, pizza, fried chicken - whatever I want so long as it's under my daily calorie count. It certainly slows down though. Pounds fell off at first. It got to where it was just averaging a pound or less a week the last couple weeks I was pushing

    I started eating more chicken again recently in an effort to lose weight as well. No other changes right now, been trying to do everything I can with diet beforehand since I have other issues with my diet to resolve other than too many calories, and I have physical limitations that make additional exercise rather difficult. You're 100% right about it being more filling for less calories. I noticed immediately I was getting filled up better for longer. I've been making pan seared chicken thighs with salt, msg, pepper, garlic powder, and italian seasoning rub, and a lemon juice drizzle, both before cooking, during cooking, on the onion slices for the sandwich (helps tame their bite as well as the flavor add), and then a final drizzle when the chicken is done. That way you get both the cooked and raw lemon flavor, tons of sour bite (which I love) to complement the fattier thigh meat and 2 bacon slices, and it's just the best. Fills me way up on a single sandwich, when I'd need two burgers to feel as full for as long, while eating way more calories as a result. I've been eating truffle oil and sea salt kettle brand chips with it and it's to die for, and at a 500 calorie reduction from my previous meal while getting to eat more food, so I'm full for WAY longer. Also getting a whole serving of veggies per sandwich between two whole lettuce leaves and 3-4 3mm/1/8" thick half onion slices, something that I wasn't getting eating burgers. I still make the burgers occasionally though, to save the fat from them, because that's the cooking oil i'm using for my chicken lmao. Oil is oil and burger fat tastes delicious. I just keep a mug by my skillet when i'm cooking burgers, with a strainer in it, and i pour off the extra fat like bacon fat to use for later, in between burgers. I've been planning burger nights with friends just to get that extra fat for flavor lmao. Some things you never give up entirely. I could just use wagyu tallow instead, but that's not as tasty as burger fat from a well cooked burger.
    What got me super addicted to chicken again though wasn't my sandwiches, it was learning how to smoke chicken properly from Jeremy Yoder's channel (Mad Scientist BBQ for those not aware). Dude's smoked chicken thighs guide is the perfect starting point for smoking a whole haunch (leg and thigh) as well, and that's what I've been cooking once a week for me and my parents. They got me a smoker last summer and I promised that I would learn to cook something for them in it as well, and they don't eat red meat for health reasons, and my mom only eats fish, so I had to learn to do something for her, be it fish or cheese stuffed mushrooms, and chicken for everyone else, to get them to try my smoked foods. Been making smoked veggie skewers as a side dish as well to go with it all. Super delicious, 10/10 would recommend getting a smoker to anyone who enjoys cooking outside.
