Timestamp 4:00: it took 50 years to realize we need a NSA because of the lack of vision of the gandhi family politicians. Don’t try to lecture us that India had to learn about internal and external security and diplomacy for 50 years. What Sardar Patel achieved in terms of uniting the princely states to India was a masterclass in diplomacy and therefore we already knew what internal and external security needs were. Congress has given us Foolish defence ministers like AK Antony who thought the best defence against China is to leave the ladakh region undeveloped. Deep gratitude to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and his government who had the vision of instating a NSA 🙌🏻. I can however never trust Shekhar Gupta to give an unbiased report. He’ll always be a congress stooge. The thumbnail of the video showed Ajit Doval 3.0 policy and SG has spoken about him less than 20% of the run time and would much rather give me birth and death days of rn kao and other congress ministers. Stop using clickbait Shekhar. Shame on your team. Crooks

Till 1998 there was no NSA appointed because from 1947 to 1998 most of the Govt of Congress were headed by Gandhi & Nehru clan & their approach to national & international security was lackluster. As India becomes more prominent in the world, and our security needs and interests extend far beyond our border, look for more expansion of this position and other non-cabinet/appointment positions to increase. There is an ethos in the federal government, especially in the security and foreign services branches that the Cabinet level chiefs should handle all aspects of responsibilities that fall under their respective portfolio. We have to break that vertical power structure. There is a lot of value we are leaving on the table. The duties of the NSA, is an example of this. It is so important to spread out the duties and force agencies to focus with a narrow bandwidth so they get better at their purview.

Modiji's best decision in the 3.0 Show is continuing the Mr.Ajit Doval. Mr.Doval should allocate some time to resolve the long pending, challenging citizen cases that otherwise are not resolved by the local leaders or Cops. We have to leverage on your talents and Guts. No wrong in addressing them on request by the victims.

Hi Shekharji.. please make a video about Agniverr- is it a biggest foreign blunder, as china has a declining no. of youth joining forces this will be fulfilled by Nepali youth as they were snubbed b'coz of agniveer. this will give lifeline to China declining army problem and also their goodwill be bought among nepali society which till now was done through veteran gorkha of indian army. SHOULD INDIA GIVE EXCEPTION TO NEPAL TO COUNTER THIS ISSUE.

A good peep into the evolution of Intelligence Masters of India. However I thought a review of the role of Ajit Dowal in successes and failures of national internal and external security should have been more appropriate, since we want to know why he is undependable to Modi ji. Don't forget Pulwama, Attack on Pathankot Sir Base, Chinese ingress in Ladakh Region, demeaning of civil society ( he called them as internal threat to be dealt with by IPS officers) etc all happened under his nose as NSA. The backlash on the relations with the US and Canada on the issue of clandestinely killing the US and Canadian Nationals who were Khalistan supporters, was his creations.
So we need more information on the activities of this guy, on whether he is doing his job well or not. Or he is just providing security and cover to the doings of Modi ji.

Do we really need politicians to run a government? As finance minister you have Nirmala Sitaraman, as EAM there is S.Jaishankar then you have Shri Ashwini Vaishnav as minister of Railways and electronics. The only exception among politicians who knows about his job is Nitin Gadkari. As for the rest to put it mildly are a burden. One thing that Modi has done right is to place the right men at the right place. Mr.Ajit Doval and P.K.Mishra are indispensable in his scheme of things given the security challenges all around. However time has come to groom a crop of young people to take over from these gentlemen including Modi himself for after all men are mortal.

Dear @shekhar Gupta, I enjoy your u hyphenated journalism and really appreciate your efforts to bring clarity in the current muddled environment.
However, I want to give some feedback/suggestion.
In many of your episodes, there is too much stress on history and very little on the analysis of current events. Eg. in this episode 1469 about Ajit Dhoval, you have spent almost the entire episode on history of the chief security advisor position. I would have liked to know your views on what can we expect from the third term of Mr Dhoval, and hat are the challenges in front of him, and hat would be same or different compared to his past 10 year stint.
Can you spend more time on analysis of current events and less on history? I understand that sometimes history is important to understand but my request is to not make that as the central theme for the episode. Thanks.

There are some well written books by authors like Mr. B Raman and others who were actually involved in the operation of the Sikkim merger. There is no mention of Mr.Doval's name in any of these books. He appers to have been actively involved in resolving the MNF insurgency in Mizoram.NSAs over the years have been generally effective but there have been major failures like not foreseeing the Kargil invasion, the Mumbai attack and the Pulwama tragedy which still remains a mystery. Mr. Doval is 79 years old. How can your own career be in sync with his?

There are some gaps in your analysis… when Pakistan got the nuclear bomb in Lop Nor… we were surprised and Pakistan started the intifada in Kashmir and the push in Punjab… it was PV who just kept his head down and weaponised by 1994…. 91 to 94 was a brutal clearance by the security forces… of Kashmir and Punjab…
