I've known Anton since the Anarchy Beach days at 43rd street in Newport Beach. One of the craziest coolest artistic fun guys you'd ever meet. Last time I saw him was in at a Hollywood hills house party which neither of us was probably invited. I hadn't seen him in years since the old Anarchy Bch days. We were both on things yet we sat and talked for hours not really probably wanting to be there but he's well aware of his influence on the music scene of many types. Funny story....Anton I'm sure you don't remember this, we were all sitting in a circle one day in the sand at 43rd street and Anton walks up and sits down with a little Casio keyboard and starts singing some song and us all being punk rockers (as well as Anton) we were interested yet dismissive. He pulls out a joint and we all pass it around and a cop walks up.....Anton shoves the joint in the sand...Cop sees him do that and starts sifting through the sand hand above pouring out as we all waited to see it drop out eventually...He must have done that a dozen times and could smell it (this is '82 kids so no it wasn't legal at all) until a rock fell out of his hand and the cop grabbed it...Anton says "that wouldn't get me stoned" we all started laughing the cop got pissed knowing we were doing what he thought. "I'll be back and I'll catch you punks" as he walks away Anton pulls the joint out of his sleeve and says "Ok...where was I" the Casio started up again and so did the joint.......He never gave two shits about what you thought (I'm 100% sure still doesn't) never sacrificed integrity for selling out, believes what he believes and is unforgiving in doing so and there's very very few people in Hollywood especially that have the verve while being authentic. Lemmy Killmister also had this. Two guys very different yet the same you'll never see on Entertainment Tonight and thank fuc*ing god. Dave "nOwheRe" Marriott

I re-watched Dig a couple months ago.. When I was 13 and I first saw it, I looked at Anton almost as a god-like figure. I was so frustrated because I felt like everyone misunderstood him. Watching it at 33 years old I felt way differently. Everyone involved just seemed endlessly pretentious and douchey. It's funny how much you change without even realizing that it's happening.

Just keep in mind that both the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols have both been heavily critical of the movie. They both agree that it painted the BJM in a really unfair light and was unrepresentative of the actual (very mutually-caring) relationship between the bands. Both the BJM and the Dandy Warhols came out against "Dig!" saying that it painted the BJM in an unfair light and was unrepresentative of the actual relationship between the bands. Ondi Timoner had 9yrs of footage and was basically able to edit it into whatever "story" she wanted to make. Still a cool movie, but not true-to-life. Anton never took his foot off the gas pedal and is, right now, making some of the best music i've ever heard from the BJM.

Ah, Roland Kirk, what a choice! One of my utterly appreciated jazz artist. I have no idea how many jazz records Anton have listened throughout his life, but it must be quite a lot. In fact, the guy shows _A Love Supreme_ and _The Best of Rahsaan Roland Kirk_ vinyls, those who familiar with both of them, probably knows why I'm being impressed by these picks.
_A Love Supreme_ happens to be one of the most complicated jazz records, believably so.
And pick anything from Kirk's discography, it always amazed me how vigorous it gets from each and every listen. Kirk possessed this 'free jazz' spirit wherever he goes. Blind man, who dresses like a shaman, spreads and shares his own cocaine to his audience, whilst playing with three saxophones at the same time. Nothing is more eclectic than watching Kirk's eccentric performances, making people travel to his psychedelically fueled trance-portals, such an experience! I have to get this
_I, Eye, Aye:_ Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival, from 1972 at all costs! Thanks to Amoeba for the quality content as always, and thank you Anton, for a nice remind!

This is so f**king COOL because I was recently alerted to Anton's success in the music biz( We grew up on the same street) This is perfect as I have been looking for musicians to promote and give a shout out that have came from Costa Mesa CA, and especially from the street I grew up on! We now have a local nut job on the street that HATES live music and wants to shut down a live music venue which is located directly behind where Anton used to live and I wanna stick it to that music hatin' A-hole! LOL I am also very impressed with the shout outs on this video to John Coltrane and Roland Kirk!! My Father Tom Margitan was the first Professional Musician to hail from our old street, aJazz saxophonist and John Coltrane was his biggest influence and He was also inspired by Roland Kirk and also played 3 saxes at once. So now, we have: Anton and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, My Father's many bands and then there's me, just a local metal head with a band that's only played a couple paying gigs, we don't have a official band name, but last gig we played we were introduced as the "Laura Jones band" which it appears I can't use anymore because there can't be TWO bands hailing from Center St. With Jones in the name! Anton seems cool though. I like that he's into my hometown hero Lee Hazlewood, Port Neches, TX baby.

I like to imagine he yelled at the camera man.. and told him to film better... Then proceeded to float above the store with his arms out and yelled out "I'm God's Son!" . Then they filmed this successfully... and he went on to play a killer show that evening.
