Knox, what I’m seeing with most of the reactions on this is heads are indeed using this moment as a catalyst to talk about mental health. They’re cracking jokes and talking shit up to a point and then the narrative flips. I love that. I’m glad heads are not kicking dude while he’s down and still showing him love even after all the crazy shit he’s said and done. Stay healthy everybody and take care of each other, including yourself!

I'm a 36 year old white Canadian from the suburbs and I bought so many hip hip albums I never would have if I didn't get into rap because of hearing Eminem and I know many people like me that I can say the same aboit.. it is what it is.. some people don't like that but MANY rappers after Em eat because of him and thats a fact
LOL! I'm 35, the rest of that rings true. And yea when he said that, I thought back to like grade 6-8 when ALL of my friends, of all races were discovering and exploring hiphop. SOO MANY discovered legends like Tupac and Biggie. I wouldn't know artists like JID or Coast Contra. The race card is stupid, all Em did was open doorways for TONS of artists to get discovered.

That's how obsessed he is with race. Everything is white people's fault, according to Benzino (even though he's 1/4 white). He's b-tching about his lack of funds and trying to live off his daughter, yet still hasn't worked out that alienating a large part of the planet will affect his income...
50 Cent said it best when he said that Eminem made hip hop a viable career (eg that would set them up financially for life, if not for generations) for a lot of black artists because, whilst people in the hood are the taste makers, they're not buying the records. They're getting hold of the music, but they're not necessarily paying for it because they don't have the funds. Whereas Em introduced hip hop to a much wider audience, including a lot of middle class white kids who have access to their parents' money. All of a sudden, album sales and merch sales are at record highs, and they're able to sell out arenas instead of clubs. If that had only happened to Em, Benzino would have a point about his race, but he always forgets that Em opened the doors for a *LOT* of black artists to access that audience, too.
A lot of Em's early collabs had people like Benzino calling the black artists collabing with him sell-outs (look at how much sh-t Dre took for signing Em and collabing with him... Now he's one of the richest men in the game), but the reality was they were helping each other. They gave Em legitimacy in the hip hop world, and Em gave them exposure to a far larger marketplace. Loads of artists have said they've benefitted financially because Em opened up the audience - from Dre, 50, and Snoop, to Jay-Z, to Kendrick, to Lil Wayne, and many more. That's why the 00s were filled with pop tracks having the third verse as a rap feature - people saw what Em was doing and found other ways to get hip hop artists that exposure to the masses that brought the money in.
Benzino made a really bad business decision by trashing Em, and he's lived to regret it since. He underestimated Em's skill, reach, influence, and pettiness, and it seems to have made his racism even worse. His ego just can't accept that he was bested (in talent, business acumen, and success) by a white guy and so his brain won't move past that 1980s racism. He still thinks that anyone who rides with Em does so to get access to the middle class white kids, but that was a 00s thing. Em only needed to open the door, hip hop then came through on it's own. The fact that Benzino still thinks like that shows how old and out of date the man is.

I discovered rap through eminem when my father would put his old hits on repeat. since then i discovered the history, groups, styles, important people and conflicts that made up its history and i'd say right now i listen to almost anything, except for excessively autotuned, mumbly trap bs, like most of the clout culture guys that blew up in 2017. hell, my top 10 has evolved and changed at least 5 times in the last 2 years as i discover another part of an artists discography i never heard or find out about a new (at least new to me) artist

He change what he says becouse of pressure from people. Rasism is REAL but making himself victim just to be a victim is not helping. Not only white people must change way they think about people another race, but also people with different skin colour must start to think about themself not through the lens of this. We all are people, not difference.
We should treat people according to whether they are good people or bad people. This is the only way to justify treating someone differently.

I definitely feel sad and empathy for benzino. He’s been through hell and still trying to escape. It’s 100 percent a cry for help. I hope someone reaches out and helps him.
This is just wild. Eminem has to be laughing hard. But at the end of the day benzino is trying to cause a divide, and therefore i don’t feel sorry for him. He says one thing and does another. Red flag!

I could see it hit you different when he turned and props man for not instantly roasting him but looking for what might be underneath (at the end, actions will speak as you said). Just thought I’m in line with a lot of your points and was a really mature way to articulate your thoughts and beliefs.
So tragic to see... I hope he makes sure to get help. Regardless of what people think of him, I feel uncomfortable when I see people laughing at someone who obviously is very unwell.

Yeah it was uncomfortable to watch. I feel sad for him
I want to say "about time!" but that sounds mean... What I mean is, that a rivalry this long sounds exhausting to be a part of and I hope this is a turning point for Benzino. And that he feels better now that he got this off of his chest. (At least when I break down like this, it's a sort of "cleansing" experience and I feel a lot better afterwards.)

I can tell you exactly. This is what happens when a narcissist gets his ego crushed. Narcissism caused by his traumas.
They were discussing Em. They completely dismantled every argument he had, using irrefutable facts. This is the result. The narcissist worst enemy is facts. They put in a hard exterior. Which is a protective, defensive reaction. Inside that shell is an extremely broken weak person. Its actually sad. Its also rampant in Hip Hop and society in general today. Because its truly not their own fault. Its nobody elses responsibility to carry his traumas though.
