And about the Grand servants, they are the original type of servant summon by the counterforce to protect humanity against a great evil, the servant summon ritual we are used in holy grail wars is a downgraded version of this one. Grand Servants are in their own league and not something that a regular servant can defeat, there are several Grand candidates but there can only be one for each of the 7 classes and will hold the position unless decide to resign.

about the GRAN SERVANTS and this is my favorite concept on fate, all normal servants are summon by a master like you already know, but GRAND servants are summon for the world with no master with the only porpuse of save the world they in a scale totally different from a normal servant, FGO the game has a quote that put up the different of scacle of power:
"If [Servants] are weapons meant to fight individuals, [Grand Servant] is a weapon meant to fight the world." so one grand servant going in the wrong path would mean a ton of problems
