I have seizures now. Post traumatic epilepsy after I was shot in the head at 17. My nieces and nephew are HELLA overprotective of me. Don't want me leaving alone especially in heat and always wanna be with me. It's a Blessing.
I started having seizures at before and after guillaine barre diagnosis and then after ALOT of physical and mental therapy i still am prone to one here and there i do have attacks of myoclonic jerking where my body seizures but my brain doesn't. Im fully aware, but i feel and hear everything. My body just wont cooperate with my brain. I had a terrible myoclonic jerk early this year and because i couldn't speak to the police they gave me 9 rounds of narcan thinking i was a drug user and when the fire department showed up they were MAD beyond belief. I then spent 2 nights in the hospital for respiratory because of narcan and then spent the next two months on an inhaler because of narcan. I have never coughed that bad in my life and ive almost died due to a bad spout of pneumonia. Id take pneumonia over being ridiculously narcaned just because of assumptions. I wven wear a medical I.D. bracelet.
The skydiver who had the seizure was training to become a skydiver instructor. He had a breakthrough seizure. Thankfully he wasn't hurt. I think that they brought his seizures under control once again. He can still skydive. However he must have someone with him just in case.
I once went camping with my mom, niece, and granddaddy. My niece knows I’m epileptic but I explained to her what she would need to do if I have a seizure while we were swimming. I think I scared her because she didn’t know how fatal seizures could be until then and she began watching me closer, and I mean she almost didn’t let me out of her sight. Sweet girl. Especially since it was mid summer. What I didn’t know is my granddaddy had been helping his neighbor with her epileptic daughter. So knew instantly the moment I began having an Absence Seizure while we were outside hanging out with friends. It made me happy when I realized just how much he really does pay attention to and loves me. One of those strong, rough, stubborn, old mules with a heart of gold. God bless him.
Also are you on any meds?? I'm asking because I am 40 and I had never had a seizure until my ankle was broken in 4 places and they put screws and plate in it and I was taking prednisone for my Rheumatoid arthritis ( big No-No) prednisone is known to weaken your immune system and causes you to not heal properly and causes infection and well I did go to my check up at that time everything looked good but then as time went by my ankle was slowly becoming infected and it's slowly got to where it was extremely noticeable and I didn't go see a doctor I didn't do anything about it I had my daughter to take care of I had my grandmother to take care of I had my dad to take care of both of them were very sick my dad's heart was at like 20% my grandmother had her own issues and eventually was puking up blood just everything was a mess so I put off taking care of myself everyday I would just take a Band-Aid after I would use peroxide and bactine I would clean it real good and then slap a big Band-Aid on it and I did that every day and for a year and a half it was that's how I did it and then April 17th 2023 I had my first seizure and it was due to my infection and my daughter got my uncle and they called 911 and I went to the hospital and they did emergency surgery and took out the metal stuff and all that so I had no plates in the screws and anymore and then I spent six weeks getting IV antibiotics the pretty strong ones so I was in rehab getting that done and then after rehab you know I came home and I was good for like a month month-and-a-half you know 2 months something like that and then all the sudden I ended up having another seizure and then once again my daughter got me help I called an ambulance and while I was in the back of the ambulance I ended up having a second one which makes it total of technically three including the first one and then ever since then though I've been on keppra which I don't think I'm epileptic because I have no reason to be like it's not something you know I've ever had to do it I know that due to the infection I did have a seizure because of that it's all good it's all healed but I can't seem to understand why I had that second seizure / 3rd seizure because the infection was good it was clean like it was all taken care of and at first somebody tried to tell me that because of the strong antibiotics that I was on my body was trying to restart itself or somethingso anybody on here who is epileptic or has had a seizure due to an infection please comment and tell me your story
@@AyeYoTay an Absence Seizure is basically where somome has a seizure. But it doesn’t cause the person to collapse or shake. The person could just be sitting there with an empty look on their face. Stop in the middle of a conversation for a moment or two and go right back to the instant of the conversation they stopped at as if nothing had happened. Or even just stand there staring off into space, or times when they just stand there holding something or even doing something like petting the wall or whatever. Even pulling their own hair. They are still unconscious which means they don’t feel pain. My husband has told me that I’ve stopped in the middle of a conversation with him on the phone then shortly begin the conversation right where I stopped. Never knowing it happened. So they are Absent for a bit. There are actually different kinds of seizures as well but I think I’ve bothered you enough.
@@AyeYoTay yup I’ve got meds. I was even on keppra for a bit. And you may have had those two seizures because once the system has had one.. you are more likely to have another. Stress can trigger one so that is probably the reason for the second one in the ambulance. They can get really bad. Almost violent. I’m glad you were in an ambulance when they happened. I take Lamotrigine.
When I was 18 I had a seizure while driving on the highway I was in the middle lane and seized. I managed to hit the barrier on the right, right as that barrier was about to end and somehow managed to not hit any other cars or hurt anyone else thankfully. My car flipped over and I woke up in the hospital somehow unharmed with nothing more than a messed up shoulder (wear seatbelts people they truly save lives). I don’t remember the incident but doctors told me other drivers pulled over and worked together to safely pull me out of the overturned vehicle. I don’t remember the incident but think about it often and wish I could track down every person who helped and thank them and let them know I’m ok now.
I've had bad seizures at work, They make me work alone many evenings and I have woken up in walk in freezer's and coolers at work not knowing how long I've been their, or just randomly walked outside to wake up thinking "what am I doing here". My boss gives me shit all the time for my daily seizures, but it's hard to find a job when the last one fired me for having a grand mal. Can't get a raise for a seizure that happened at work, and didn't get a dr's note. They called the ambulance and I called them when I was out of ER
I’m glad others come out of their postictal state quicker than me because mine can last anywhere from five to ten minutes of me just lying there staring at nothing. My husband will sit there trying to get my attention while I apparently just stare right through him. He says it’s the creepiest thing. I had a few seizures before 2021 but now I’m diagnosed with epilepsy because I have them a lot more frequently and am on high doses of meds to keep them under control. Wouldn’t wish these on my worst enemy.
I don't have seizures, but I have conditions where I faint often and am constantly some level of dizzy. These conditions werent around when I skydived from 13000ft (tandem), as we believe that it was a head injury that prompted them to start. I wish so much that I could do another dive, but I know that I would at least faint on the way down, if not provoke my already unsettled brain into perhaps more than just a faint. Skydiving is a LOT of fun.
I had a seizure behind the wheel with my newborn in car. We were both ok but I ran into the front of a little Caesars pizza and now everyone calls it “little seizures “ And no I’m not joking lol

Hahah I've been skydiving (before I was diagnosed,) but I didn't have a seizure and I was attached to an instructor. From what I understand there are secondary parachutes connected that will automatically shoot out in emergency situations. Landing is still hard, but you shouldn't turn into a pancake. My worst seizure was when I drove off the interstate, praise the LORD I let off the gas and went off at 5mph. Nobody was injured, not even my car, praise Jesus. I have since sold my car and no longer have a license. I was also very blessed that the police and EMS were on scene very quickly so I didn't walk into high speed traffic post-ictally, they did a beautiful job protecting me even though I'm sure it probably seemed to them like I was just on drugs or something. It was a very traumatic and very humbling experience.
Similar story bro. I almost hit the shoe store off the bypass here , somehow dodging in- between the huge concrete sign and store itself, I hit 3 curves, blow out all my tires and knock some shit loose underneath, and Duke's of Hazzard the last curve into a field where the found me..... I am epileptic since 20 years. My age now 33 last episode happen on 1st October 2021. I was taking Levetracetam 500mg 3 times per day. Before last episode I was very active and convulsions free. Now I feel convulsion sometimes even taking Levetracetam 500mg 3 times per day. My doctor suggested me clobazom 5mg at night with Levetracetam. But I am taking clobazom only when I feel I will get seizure. Bcoz I don't want to continue extra medicine. This is cause any major issue in future?
My dad has the worst one he had one at school yesterday and the whole school was there watching he is a principal luckily my mom is a teacher and she realize before he fell
I was told if it lasts the mind or more it's a serious problem. That came from my neurologist. He said it's due to oxygen deprivation during the seizure. Plus the longer it goes on, it can have extreme lasting effects.
Do seizures normally have time patterns of when they occur or do they just happen out of the blue? Cause that's pretty sad how they can happen at the most unfortunate times like during swimming
I started having epilepsy at 4. I was just naturally born with it. I did not have an incident to the head. Since I got through high-school I have been having a lot less seizure and I started junior college this year and at age 18 I have not had a seizure this hole year so far.
Oof. Post-ictal states are fun. I still can’t get my mom and sister to understand that just because I’m not in a seizure doesn’t mean I’m gonna be the least bit coherent 😂 after one of mine, I was so disoriented with time I kept telling my son Rory to get ready for school or he’d miss the bus😂 sweet baby just kept reminding me I had had a seizure and the time of day. He’s a trooper:) my mom couldn’t figure out why I was arguing with her concerning the time and though I looked at my phone for it, I was arguing with her legit right after looking at it 😂 I’ve tried explaining it to her, but I think it’s just very frightening for her and my sister because it’s not something they can fix if that makes sense, but it’s amusing in its own way because this has been a thing since adolescence 😂 they forget I can’t see though which is a sorta compliment I guess, but I wish they would remember after seizures ALWAYS go like this and to just go with it. Also, funniest situation for a myoclonic seizure… threw a pencil at a teacher… 😂oops 😂
